Sat May 12 201213:10Reid not worried about Celek's Week 1 status
Eagles coach Andy Reid isn't worried about Brent Celek's (shoulder and hernia surgeries) status for the regular season, but stopped short of saying he'd be a full participant in OTAs.
"He's actually doing very well," Reid said. "We'll take it easy with him and see how he does." The Eagles have been curiously coy on Celek's status all offseason, but there's been nothing to suggest he won't be ready for Week 1. Celek's health will come into sharper focus as camp approaches.

Sat May 5 201216:46Eagles GM 'evasive' about Celek's health
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Eagles GM Howie Roseman was "evasive" when asked about Brent Celek's health (shoulder and hernia surgeries) this week.
We've heard nothing about Celek's health since his January operations, and the Inquirer considers his progress "an issue worth keeping an eye on." In the absence of evidence to the contrary, Celek should tentatively be expected to be ready for camp.

Wed Jan 4 201211:58Celek undergoes hip, sports hernia surgeries
Brent Celek underwent concurrent surgeries Tuesday to repair a sports hernia as well as a torn labrum in his left hip.
Celek deserves props for playing extremely well through the injuries down the stretch. In a fine bounce-back season, Celek finished 10th among fantasy tight ends with a 62/811/5 line, including a top-three closing over the final five games. He's without a timeline for a return. It may be optimistic to expect to see Celek before training camp.

Wed Dec 21 201110:47Celek was a pass-catcher vs. DAL last time
Brent Celek stayed in to block on just four of 35 pass plays when the Eagles played the Cowboys in Week 8.
On the season, Celek has been asked to block on 25 percent of all pass plays. But on that day, the chains were taken off and he racked up seven catches for 94 yards with a touchdown. Celek also blocked just 12 percent of the time against the Jets last week. He's trending in the right direction as a low-end TE1 in Saturday's rematch with the Cowboys.

Sun Dec 18 201119:37Brent Celek goes off for 156 yards, TD
Brent Celek caught five passes for 156 yards with a touchdown in the Eagles' Week 15 blowout of the Jets.
Celek's 26-yard touchdown in the first quarter was spectacular. He tipped the ball to himself on a crossing route, gathered it and then muscled his way into the end zone. Later, he broke wide open and got tackled one yard short of the end zone on a 73-yard catch. After a slow start to the season, Celek has averaged 5.1 catches for 69.7 yards with two touchdowns over the last eight weeks. He's on the TE1 radar for next week's game against the Cowboys.

Fri Dec 2 201100:12Celek held to 21 yards in Week 13
Brent Celek was held to 21 yards on three receptions against the Seahawks in Week 13.
He was on the receiving end of just four of Vince Young's 29 pass attempts. Celek fought hard after the catch, but he was unable to go through or around tacklers. This was the first time in five weeks that he's failed to top 50 yards. Celek will be a TE2 option against in Week 14 against a Miami defense vulnerable to tight ends.

Sun Nov 27 201120:57Celek turns in another strong effort
Brent Celek caught five passes for 75 yards in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.
Celek is now averaging 5.5 catches for 64 yards over his past six games, and has very much re-established himself as a big part of the Eagles offense and legitimate option in fantasy leagues. He's worth a flier in all formats if you're hurting at tight end.

Mon Nov 21 201101:14Celek has another nice night in win
Brent Celek caught six passes for 60 yards in Sunday's win over the Giants.
Celek has now made at least six catches in three of his past four starts, and is averaging 5.6 receptions for 61.8 yards over his past five games. He's definitely worth a flier if you've been searching for answers at tight end.

Sun Nov 13 201119:25Celek becoming a larger target for Vick
Brent Celek had four receptions for 53 yards in the Eagles' Week 10 loss to the Cardinals.
Michael Vick threw his way seven times and the Eagles schemed him into the game plan a tiny bit. It's safe to say he has become the No. 4 target in the offense after LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, and DeSean Jackson. Celek is riding a 5.5-catch, 64.5-yard average with two touchdowns in his last four games, and with Maclin and Jackson dealing with injury and attitude, respectively, he has low-end TE1 potential.

Tue Nov 8 201100:48Celek ties for team-lead with nine targets
Brent Celek had seven receptions for 60 yards in the Eagles' Week 9 loss to the Bears.
The matchup was right with the Bears being burned all year long by TEs, and he went on to tie for the team lead in targets with nine. The Bears' Cover 2 ultimately took away the deep passing game and Celek was there to gobble up the checkdowns. His matchup isn't exactly great against the Cardinals next week, and while the arrow is pointing up he's still a high-end TE2 at best.

Sun Nov 6 201108:05Celek draws praise for pass protection
Brent Celek's pass protection has become so fundamentally sound that RT Todd Herremans called him "an extra tackle out there."
Celek and Clay Harbor worked extensively in training camp with new offensive line coach Howard Mudd to get comfortable with the team's blocking schemes, which both have been featured in prominently. With tight ends playing second fiddle on the Eagles and rarely used in the passing game, consider Celek a low-upside TE2 against a Bear's defense that struggles in coverage of tight ends. Last week's 94 yard outburst should be viewed as an anomaly.

Fri Nov 4 201115:39Brent Celek returns to Eagles practice
Brent Celek (hip) returned to Eagles practice in full on Friday.
The Eagles won't release their final injury report until Saturday, but Celek is in no danger of sitting out Monday night's game against the Bears. Chicago has struggled in coverage of tight ends all season.

Thu Nov 3 201115:54Celek misses Eagles practice
Brent Celek (hip) missed Eagles practice Thursday.
However, Celek assured beat writers he'll be active for Monday Night Football. He should return to practice on Friday. With the Eagles' offensive line finally settling in, Celek has been freed up in the passing game, and has led the Eagles in targets the past two weeks. He's worth a flier if you're searching for answers at tight end.

Brent Celek is dealing with a hip contusion.
Celek may sit out practice today, but it's not a concern. With the Eagles not playing until Monday, this is their first practice of the week. Celek is trending up as the Eagles' rapidly improving offensive line allows him to run more pass routes.

Mon Oct 31 201101:17Celek has best game of the season
Brent Celek hauled in a season-high seven catches for 94 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win.
With the Cowboys leaving the middle of the field almost completely uncovered, Michael Vick locked onto his tight end, targeting him a team-high nine times. An excellent evening, but almost certainly a one-off for a player who was averaging 2.2 catches and 19.2 yards coming into Week 8. His home remains on the waiver wire.

Thu Oct 20 201111:13Brent Celek being used as a blocker
Brent Celek is being used as a blocker on 30 percent of pass plays this season.
Last year, Celek blocked on 23 percent of pass plays. And during his breakout 2009 season, he was used as a pass-blocker just 14 percent of the time. The Eagles' offensive line is regaining health and improving, but we'd like to see Celek be used as a receiver much more before even considering an add. Celek is averaging 2.1 catches for 19.1 yards so far this season.

Sun Oct 16 201118:44Brent Celek comes out of nowhere for 4 grabs
Brent Celek caught four passes for 42 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Eagles.
This one came out of nowhere. Celek had a grand total of nine catches for 73 yards and no touchdowns in the previous five games this season. But today, the Eagles threw a pretty screen to him for an easy score and he racked up a team-high nine targets. We'd make Celek "prove it" before considering an add as the Eagles head into their bye.

An MRI on Brent Celek's back came back negative.
