Sun Jan 15 201215:12Giants declare playoff game inactives
Giants declared WR Ramses Barden, RB Da'Rel Scott, LB Mark Herzlich, G/C Jim Cordle, DE Justin Trattou, DT Jimmy Kennedy, and OT James Brewer inactive for the Divisional round at Green Bay.
Barden fell out of the receiver rotation when Mario Manningham got healthy. The Giants activate special teamer Devin Thomas over him. Scott, Herzlich, Cordle, Trattou, and Brewer are rookies. Kennedy is an impending free agent.

Tue Nov 29 201100:22Barden catches three balls for 38 yards
Giants WR Ramses Barden caught three balls for 38 yards in the Giants' Week 12 loss to the Saints.
With Mario Manningham (knee) out, Barden was able to see a jump in his snap count and this qualifies as decent production for him. Obviously, there is little value here with or without Manningham around.

Mon Nov 28 201118:35Barden working in Giants 3-receiver sets
In Giants pre-game warmups ahead of Monday night's game, Ramses Barden is working in three-receiver sets along with Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz.
Mario Manningham (knee) is not participating. Our expectation is that Barden will be the slot receiver with Nicks and Cruz outside when the Giants employ their base three-wide formations, although Cruz and Barden can mix and match. Nicks is a WR1 tonight, Cruz a WR2, and Barden is a desperation option.

Sat Nov 5 201119:31Ramses Barden activated off the PUP list
Giants WR Ramses Barden was activated off the PUP list in advance of Week 9's game against the Patriots.
He will see action in the slot with Hakeem Nicks (hamstring) out, but expecting him to play more than 20 snaps is overly optimistic. He would need a serious injury ahead of him to matter in fantasy leagues, and right now Nicks' injury doesn't really qualify. At 6'6" tall, the Cal Poly grad is an interesting red zone target, nonetheless.

Wed Nov 2 201119:56Ramses Barden expected to be activated
Giants WR Ramses Barden is expected to be activated from the PUP list this week.
Barden took "a good portion" of the first-team practice reps Wednesday with Mario Manningham (illness) and Hakeem Nicks (hamstring) out. Mario and Nicks are both expected to play this week, and Victor Cruz is way out in front of Barden for third receiver duties. Don't expect any 2011 fantasy impact.

Mon Oct 24 201113:34Ramses Barden returns to Giants practice
Giants WR Ramses Barden (PUP, ankle) resumed practicing Monday.
The Giants now have three weeks to decide whether to activate Barden from the PUP list or place him on injured reserve. Barden has appeared in just nine games since being a third-round pick in 2009, making only six catches. With Victor Cruz firmly entrenched as the Giants' third receiver, Barden won't be a factor down the stretch.

Tue Oct 18 201117:17Barden expects to return to practice
Giants WR Ramses Barden (PUP, ankle) expects to return to practice on Tuesday.
The Giants will have three weeks to decide whether to activate Barden from the PUP list after nearly a year on the sidelines. Victor Cruz is entrenched as the No. 3 receiver, and OC Kevin Gilbride concedes that Barden will face a "tremendous" amount of rust in his return.

Tue Aug 30 201116:18Giants place Barden, Koets on reserve/PUP
Giants placed WR Ramses Barden (ankle) and C Adam Koets (knee) on reserve/PUP.
Neither player will be eligible to return before Week 7. Barden has had multiple setbacks since suffering a "significant injury" to the deltoid ligament in his left foot in addition to a fracture in his left leg. The 2009 third-rounder has just six catches in nine career games. Koets won't come back to a major role after the Giants signed David Baas to man center.

Sat Aug 20 201111:56Ramses Barden expects to practice 'soon'
Giants WR Ramses Barden (ankle) expects to "soon" be activated off the active/PUP list.
That's an upgrade on a week ago, where Barden had no timetable for a return. However, he did caution he could still begin the season on the PUP list. That would be a huge disappointment for a player that could have potentially emerged as the Giants' No. 3 receiver if healthy. He's not worth a late-round pick right now.

Fri Aug 12 201118:27Giants WR Barden remains on the shelf
Giants WR Ramses Barden (ankle) conceded this week that he still has no timetable to be activated from camp/PUP.
The Giants have a prime opening for snaps at the third spot in their receiver corps, but the injury-prone underachiever can't get off the shelf. Barden had surgery all the way back in March. He should've been healthy months ago.

Sat Jul 30 201102:23Giants place Ramses Barden on camp/PUP
Giants placed WR Ramses Barden (ankle) on active/PUP.
Barden had offseason surgery to "clean out" his left ankle way back in March, so it's concerning that he's not fully healed. Such lengthy recovery times always make us wonder if the operations weren't more serious in nature. We're quickly losing faith that Barden can stay healthy. He isn't on the fantasy radar.

Fri Jun 10 201113:24Ramses Barden sitting out Giants workouts
Giants WR Ramses Barden (ankle surgery) is not participating in player-only offseason activities.
Barden had a "cleanup" procedure on his left ankle in March. He insists he's recovered, but doesn't want to risk re-injuring the ankle. In April, GM Jerry Reese called out Barden as a player the Giants need to "step up." The G-Men still value his talent, but he's facing a possible make-or-break year in New York.

Fri Apr 22 201112:50Giants GM: Barden, Beatty have to step up
Giants GM Jerry Reese nominated WR Ramses Barden and OT William Beatty as two players that have to step up in 2011.
After a strong rookie training camp, Barden has managed to catch just six passes in nine games over the past two seasons. He's coming off a significant ankle injury, but still expected to be ready for camp. Though Barden was outshined by Victor Cruz last August, Reese's comments suggest the 2009 third-round is still highly valued in the Giants' front office.

Wed Apr 6 201113:10Barden, Cruz, Hixon to be ready for camp
Giants WRs Ramses Barden (ankle), Victor Cruz (hamstring), and Domenik Hixon (ACL surgery) are all expected to be fully healthy by the start of training camp.
Cruz should be good to go right now, and Hixon will be a full year removed from surgery by August. Barden underwent a cleanup procedure in February after breaking his ankle and suffering ligament damage in Week 10. Cruz and Barden will likely vie for the No. 4 spot in camp.

Sat Feb 26 201120:29Barden to undergo 'cleanup' procedure
Giants WR Ramses Barden will undergo a cleanup procedure on his injured left ankle next week.
Barden broke his ankle and suffered ligament damage in Week 10 against the Cowboys last season, and is apparently still dealing with some swelling that needs to be "rectified so he can heal properly." A third-round pick in 2009, he has appeared in just nine career games and will likely remain off the fantasy radar in 2011.

Tue Nov 16 201015:04Giants place WR Barden on injured reserve
Giants placed WR Ramses Barden (foot, leg) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Barden has a "significant injury" to the deltoid ligament in his left foot in addition to a fracture in his left leg. Derek Hagan and Duke Calhoun will likely battle it out for the No. 3 receiver role until Steve Smith returns in December. While Barden remains a worthwhile long-term Dynasty stash, his path to playing time is blocked by three veterans -- and possibly Victor Cruz as well.
Mon Nov 15 201014:47Ramses Barden likely done for season
Updating a previous item, Giants WR Ramses Barden has been diagnosed with a "significant ligament injury" in his left foot.
He also has a fracture in his left leg. Asked Monday if it's an injury Barden could return from this year, coach Tom Coughlin replied "That's unlikely as of now." The Giants' three-receiver set has taken a big hit since last Thursday. It's fallen from Hakeem Nicks-Steve Smith-Mario Manningham to Nicks-Manningham-Duke Calhoun. Barden is headed for injured reserve.

Mon Nov 15 201014:19Prognosis for WR Barden 'not promising'
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, initial indications for Giants WR Ramses Barden's left foot injury are "not promising."
Barden is having a Monday MRI, and it sounds like the team fears a fracture or a high ankle sprain at the very least. Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger earlier today passed along "some rumblings" about Barden's injury that were "not so hot." He was in a hard cast Monday, which isn't a good sign.

Sun Nov 14 201020:21Ramses Barden on crutches
Giants WR Ramses Barden was on crutches and in a walking boot after spraining his left ankle in Sunday's loss to Dallas.
Barden anticipates missing "a week or two," but he isn't sure. The 2009 third-round pick out of Cal-Poly has five catches for 64 yards on the season.

Thu Nov 11 201015:57Giants will rotate players in third-WR role
Coordinator Kevin Gilbride suggested that Ramses Barden will not have a major role even if Steve Smith (pectoral) misses Sunday's game.
"We'll rotate and move guys so we're not pigeon holed with one guy," said Gilbride. "Depending on what the route is and what we're asking with the play, we can move different people in there." Keep Barden on the waiver wire. He'll split snaps with Duke Calhoun and H-back Travis Beckum.
