Johnson caught three of his his six targets for 28 yards in Thursday's loss to Seattle.
The six targets were the highest Johnson has received since week 7 against Denver. The increased usage was a result of the Seahawks completely shutting down the 49ers' top two receiving options - Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree - for the entire game. Johnson's usage is still too unpredictable to rely on in most leagues.

Johnson caught 3-of-5 targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 13-10 loss to the Rams.
Johnson had the third most targets on San Francisco, but posted modest totals. He remains an important part of the team's offense from a real-life point of view, although Colin Kaepernick has been spreading things around all season, making Johnson unpredictable from week-to-week.

Johnson (hip) suited up Sunday and led all 49ers' receivers with five catches for 79 yards and a score in the blowout loss to Denver.
Johnson was dealing with a minor hip injury coming into the game, but he was always expected to play Sunday. He served as a safety valve for Colin Kaepernick after Vernon Davis (back) proved to be unreliable in the first half with a pair of crucial drops. He has seen a healthy 13 targets over the last two weeks, making him a target for those in PPR and deeper leagues coming out of the bye next week. It would be tough to trust him (or any 49er receiver) in standard leagues due to the inconsistency of the team's passing game and Colin Kaepernick's tendency to spread the ball around.

Johnson (hip) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Johnson, who has caught 20-of-25 targets for 236 yards and two TDs in six games to date, is out there if you need him Sunday night, but he's a hit-or-miss option these days, with fellow wideouts Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin, as well as TE Vernon Davis also in the mix to see targets in the 49ers' passing game.
Fri Oct 17 201419:25Johnson (hip) probable for Sunday's game against Denver
Johnson (hip) is probable for Sunday's game against Denver.
Johnson practiced fully Friday, so his hip injury is something he's ready to play through. He's been extremely efficient this year, catching 20-of-25 targets for 236 yards and two scores, but his uncertain workload makes him an intimidating fantasy commitment.
Wed Oct 15 201420:37Johnson (hip) limited in Wednesday's practice
Johnson (hip) was limited in Wednesday's practice, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Johnson took a knee to his right hip Monday in St. Louis, so his limited showing Wednesday is no surprise. In his first season in San Francisco, he's been hit-or-miss (mostly miss), with his receiving output ranging from nine to 103 yards. Because the corps is approaching full health with Vernon Davis (back) logging a full practice Wednesday, Johnson will likely be no higher than fourth in Colin Kaepernick's mind Sunday at Denver, assuming the wideout achieves active status.
Wed Oct 15 201411:58Johnson does not appear to be dealing with major injury
Johnson, who took a knee to his right hip late in Monday's game, does not appear to be dealing with a major injury, csnbayarea.com reports.
Coach Jim Harbaugh relayed Wednesday that Johnson "was a little sore" Tuesday, but noted that the wideout's injury is not viewed as a long-term issue. It remains to be seen if Johnson will be able to practice Wednesday, however, so we'll consider the wideout day-to-day for now.

Johnson injured the right side of his body during Monday's game but it's not believed to be serious.
Johnson was injured during an onside kick recovery and was forced to leave the game in the waning minutes. He was able to catch five passes during his time on the field for a total of 53 yards. The 28-year-old said that he was "feeling good" Monday night, but his status for next Sunday's game against the Broncos will likely be determined in the latter half of the practice week.

Johnson only caught one pass Sunday, but it was a 9-yard touchdown reception.
This was the second week in a row where Johnson caught a touchdown pass, but it was also the second week in a row that he only had one reception. The 49ers have been using both Johnson and Brandon Lloyd at the slot position over the past couple of weeks. Neither is used consistently enough to warrant ownership in standard leagues, but those in deeper formats could take a flyer on him in case the redzone targets continue.

Johnson only had one catch against the Eagles on Sunday, but it went for a 12-yard touchdown.
After a nine-catch, 103-yard performance last week, Johnson turned in the complete opposite performance Sunday, catching only one ball, but finding pay dirt. Johnson's excessive usage last week was due to the absence of Vernon Davis, who returned this week only to leave the game with a different injury. Davis (back) said that he should be fine for next week's tilt against the Chiefs, but if he weren't able to suit up, then Johnson would see an increased role and become an intriguing option in PPR formats.

Johnson had nine catches (nine targets) for 103 yards in Sunday's loss at Arizona.
Johnson was one of Colin Kaepernick's favorite targets Sunday, and the veteran wide receiver led the team in receiving yardage. He's been working primarily out of the slot, so his value appears to be higher in PPR formats.

Johnson was used as the 49ers' primary slot receiver in Sunday's loss to the Bears. He finished with two catches for 26 yards.
Johnson didn't have a big day from a fantasy perspective, but the 49ers handed the third receiver role solely to him on Sunday after having Brandon Lloyd split snaps with him last week. There are too many mouths to feed on this offense for Johnson to have a consistent fantasy impact right now. But being the primary slot receiver will ensure that he is on the field for more snaps going forward.

Johnson caught two passes for 33 yards in Sunday's win over the Cowboys.
Johnson wasn't used as the 49ers' slot receiver the entire game, ceding the position to veteran Brandon Lloyd for a good portion of the day. This was a concern heading into the season and it appears that the team wants to use both receivers equally in the passing game, suppressing both of their values until one steps up.
Wed Aug 27 201412:52Johnson may not be lock for 3rd receiver with 49ers this year
Johnson may not be a lock for the No. 3 receiver with the 49ers this year, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.
It was generally accepted that Johnson would be the teams slot receiver when the 49ers traded a fourth round pick for him this off-season, but Quinton Patton - not Johnson - was out with the first team against the Chargers this past Sunday. It would be hard not to see Johnson not be the team's third receiver, especially since there haven't been any negative reports on his play this offseason, but it is definitely a situation to monitor once week 1 rolls around.

Johnson hauled in his only target for a five-yard gain in Sunday's preseason game against the Chargers.
As the likely No. 3 wide receiver in a run-heavy offense, Johnson will find targets hard to come by this season, even if the 49ers pass more often than in previous years. He could also face some pressure for snaps, as the Niners have solid wideout depth with Brandon Lloyd, Quinton Patton and rookie Bruce Ellington.

Johnson only had one reception for six yards in Thursday's preseason opener against the Ravens.
Although the production from a statistical standpoint wasn't there, Johnson managed to draw two pass interference penalties and also exhibited excellent blocking on running plays. He is currently listed as the third receiver on the 49ers' depth chart.
Tue Jul 22 201410:17Stevie Johnson's salary working against him
CSN Bay Area suggests Stevie Johnson will have to "clearly" win the No. 3 receiver job due to his scheduled $3.925 million salary.
Johnson is competing for No. 3 duties behind Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin. Rookie Bruce Ellington, sophomore Quinton Patton, and veteran Brandon Lloyd are also in the mix, and all make considerably less money than Johnson. Whoever wins the No. 3 job is highly unlikely to be fantasy relevant as the No. 4 option in the passing game. Johnson is no lock for the 53-man roster.

Wed Jun 25 201420:34Stevie Johnson unlikely to reach 60 catches
CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco is taking the "under" on 60 receptions for Stevie Johnson this year.
Johnson's days of fantasy impact are likely over, as he enters a run-first 49ers offense that also feeds Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, and Anquan Boldin. Expect Johnson to be a better real-life than fantasy player in 2014.

Fri May 9 201414:57Bills trade WR Johnson to Niners for 4th-rder
49ers acquired WR Stevie Johnson from the Bills in exchange for a 2015 fourth-round pick.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the pick can improve to a third-round pick, likely based on Johnson's 2014 performance. Buffalo did well to acquire a fairly valuable future pick in exchange for a receiver entering year three of a five-year, $37 million contract. Johnson, 28 in July, finished 2013 with 52 catches for 597 yards and three touchdowns, playing in 12 games. He's a short to intermediate slot-receiver type, with a somewhat similar skill set to both Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin. San Francisco still needs a true vertical stretcher in the wideout corps, and we suspect they'll draft one tonight or tomorrow. Johnson's fantasy value won't be resuscitated as a role player with the Niners, but it's a productive move for their offense.

Fri May 9 201412:18Bills expected to try and deal Stevie Johnson
WGR 550 Buffalo expects the Bills to "do what they can" to try and trade Stevie Johnson.
Following the pick of Sammy Watkins at No. 4 overall last night, the Bills now have a glut of receivers. Johnson is due a $3.65 million salary and had a bit of a rocky relationship with the new coaching staff last season. With Watkins in the fold, we'd expect he and Mike Williams to handle outside duties with Robert Woods working mostly in the slot. Marquise Goodwin will be the situational deep threat. The Bills are likely looking for a mid- to late-round pick for Johnson.
