Sat Jan 14 201223:59Shawne Williams (foot, leg) out on Saturday
Shawne Williams (foot, leg) was officially a DNP-CD on Saturday, but presumably was sidelined by his injuries.
Williams has a small fracture in his foot which has caused him to overcompensate and injury his right leg. It's not a situation that will improve any time soon, as far as we can tell, and he should be unowned in all formats.

Shawne Williams has been dealing with a "light fracture" in his left foot for years, which has caused his right leg to overcompensate.
Williams left Friday's game with shin splints in his right leg. He said he will probably need surgery after the season to fix the original fracture in his foot, which makes it sound as though he'll be dealing with the issue all year. He has yet to make a serious dent in the rotation despite the absence of Damion James.

Fri Jan 13 201222:35Shawne Williams out with a leg injury
Shawne Williams left Friday's game due to a leg injury and is questionable to return.
Williams played just five minutes but could be an interesting fantasy play down the road if the Nets suffer injuries. There should be plenty of garbage-ball in their future, which sets up nicely for a 3-point shooter like Williams.

Mon Dec 26 201112:16Shawne Williams not ready for heavy minutes
Shawne Williams (flu) will play on Monday, as expected, but coach Avery Johnson said he's not ready for "significant minutes."
Williams signed with the Nets over the Knicks in part because he could get more minutes with New Jersey, and he could overtake Damion James for the starting SF job at some point (if the Nets don't sign Andrei Kirilenko). In 21 minutes per game with New York last year, he averaged 7.1 points, 1.3 threes, 3.7 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 0.8 blocks.

Sat Dec 17 201112:50Shawne Williams out w/ the flu
Shawne Williams will not play on Saturday due to the flu.

Thu Dec 15 201114:35Shawne Williams officially a Net
Shawne Williams has officially signed with the Nets for $6.1 million over two years.
He should have a back up role with the Nets, but could also make Travis Outlaw expendable. Either way, Williams will hit plenty of threes this season.

Thu Dec 15 201111:27Shawne Williams to sign with New Jersey Nets
Shawne Williams has agreed to sign with the Nets.
Williams turned down the Knicks after the team seemed ready to replace him with Jamal Crwaford. He will have a great opportunity to contribute in New Jersey given the shallow depth on the team, and he is certainly capable of accruing more fantasy value playing for the Nets than he held with the Knicks.

Thu Dec 1 201106:58Shawne Williams pursued by Heat, Nets, Bulls
The Heat, Nets and Bulls are "strongly considering" free agent Shawne Williams.
Coming off of a solid season with the Knicks, Williams will have a longer list of suitors than some might have imagined. Sun Nov 27 201117:19Knicks interested in bringing back Williams
According to beat writer Alan Hahn, there's "mutual interest" between the Knicks and Shawne Williams on working out a new deal.
Williams has reiterated his preference to remain with the Knicks on a couple of different occasions, and it sounds like the desire for a reunion is mutual. Williams played a nice role off the bench for the team last season and if re-signed will slide back into it for at least 2011-12. He shot above 40 percent from beyond the arc last season, but his playing time might be too inconsistent to sustain fantasy value.

Sat Sep 10 201113:33Shawne Williams eager to re-sign with Knicks
Shawne Williams recently reiterated his desire to sign with the Knicks for the upcoming season.
Williams talks as though he's already under contract ("I feel like we already know we're going to make the playoffs") so presumably he has some assurances that the Knicks want to re-sign him. In 64 games last season he averaged 7.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.6 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 21 minutes per game. He also shot 40.1% from downtown, a huge plus on a Mike D'Antoni-coached team.
