Sat Aug 2 201415:17Williams has fully-guaranteed $1.2 million salary for 2014-15
Williams has a fully-guaranteed $1.2 million salary for 2014-15, and the Heat hold a team option for 2015-16, The Miami Herald reports.
The fully-guaranteed salary indicates that Williams is expected to make the roster, though it doesn't mean he'll have a spot in the regular rotation. Williams' skill set is similar to that of the departed James Jones, who will be joining LeBron James on the Cavaliers. Williams primarily worked as a stretch four for the Lakers last season, when he averaged 1.2 3PM in just 20.9 minutes, albeit with a three-point percentage of just 32.6. He's a career 33.3-percent shooter from beyond the arc.
Fri Aug 1 201413:14Shawne Williams: Signs With Heat
Williams signed with the Heat on Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The six-year veteran split last season between the Lakers and the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the D-League. In 36 games (13 starts) for the Lakers, Williams posted 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 20.9 minutes. A 2006 first-round pick, Williams is one of the league's better three-point shooting forwards. Assuming he make the final roster, he'll likely slide into the role vacated by James Jones.
Sun Feb 16 201419:32Shawne Williams' 10-day deal expires Sunday
Shawne Williams' 10-day contract with the Lakers will expire on Sunday.
He logged 35 minutes in a start at PF vs. the Thunder on Thursday and it wouldn't be surprising to see him re-signed, though L.A. may wait until their next game on Wednesday or until the Feb. 20 deadline to maximize their roster flexibility.

Fri Feb 14 201401:35Shawne Williams starts hot, plays 35 minutes
Shawne Williams played 35 minutes and had 15 points, nine boards, one steal, two blocks and three 3-pointers against the Thunder on Thursday.
He started out hot with 13 points in the second half and the Lakers really counted on him tonight. Williams fizzled out back in the 2013 part of the season and he's far from a reliable asset, but it's not a bad idea to pick him up and see what happens in deeper leagues.

Wed Feb 12 201401:51Shawne Williams scores 11 in start for Lakers
Shawne Williams started over Ryan Kelly on Tuesday and hit 4-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks in a loss to the Jazz.
Kelly had just three points in 18 minutes, but it's hard to say who Mike D'Antoni will start from night to night. If Williams happens to keep the job, he might be worth a pick up. But as of now, he's just another Laker no-name who had a decent night on Tuesday.

Tue Feb 11 201414:19Shawne Williams back in Lakers' starting five
Mike D'Antoni will send out a new starting lineup with Shawne Williams at PF for Tuesday's game vs. the Jazz.
Williams has started 11 games this season and the results have been unimpressive, with averages of 4.5 points on 38.8 percent shooting, 4.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game. He may chip in a few 3-pointers and blocks but there's too much risk to use him in 12-team leagues.

Fri Feb 7 201422:21Williams scores four points in second debut
Shawne Williams scored four points with three rebounds and two steals in 13 minutes on Friday against the Sixers.
Williams is in his second stint with the Lakers this season and this was his first game since returning to the team. As you can see he didn't do much and we'll let you know if that changes.

Thu Feb 6 201416:40Lakers give Shawne Williams 10-day contract
Lakers sign F Shawne Williams.
L.A. waived him in early January but they're dusting him off with Jodie Meeks (ankle) and Nick Young (knee) joining the parade of injured Lakers players. Williams even started 11 games earlier this season, but overall he averaged just 5.2 points on 37.7 percent shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks.

Mon Jan 27 201415:25Shawne Williams goes to the D-League
Shawne Williams agreed to terms on a deal with the Los Angeles Defenders on Monday.
The Lakers waived him back on Jan. 7 and apparently he couldn't get any other interest from another team. Williams will likely come up with the Lakers at some point, but he won't have much fantasy value.

Tue Jan 7 201413:44Shawne Williams waived by Lakers in surprise
Lakers waived F Shawne Williams.
It's a bit of a surprise considering Williams has played 20.2 minutes per game this season and started 11 times, averaging 5.2 points and 4.5 boards. But the Lakers didn't want to guarantee his contract for the whole season, so they'll lean more on Robert Sacre, Jordan Hill and Ryan Kelly. Williams was shooting just 37.7 percent from the field.

Sat Jan 4 201402:54Williams back to the bench for the Lakers
Shawne Williams scored 10 points off the bench on Friday, hitting 3-of-4 shots (including three treys) with one rebound, one assist, one steal and one block in 17 minutes.
This is a great line given the playing time but there are way too many 'ifs' here for owners to get too excited about. He's a 14-team value over the past two weeks and that's a good spot to draw the line on where owners should be paying attention to him.

Wed Jan 1 201401:21Shawne Williams plays 36 minutes vs. Bucks
Shawne Williams played 36 minutes against the Bucks on Tuesday with five points, 11 boards, one assist, five blocks and one 3-pointer.
His five blocks set a career high and his 11 boards were just one off his career best from back in 2008 with the Mavericks. The Lakers were down big most of this game and really needed some bodies, so that explains the high minutes. He's not really worth picking up in almost any league despite the outburst to close out 2013.

Wed Dec 25 201320:20Shawne Williams scores three points in start
Shawne Williams made his second start in a row against the Heat on Wednesday with three points, five boards and one 3-pointer in 16 minutes.
He's another example to support to claim that minutes and stats clearly trump being in the starting lineup. In his seven previous starts, Williams averaged just 3.9 points, 3.6 boards and 0.6 triples. He's not worth owning in almost any league.

Tue Dec 24 201303:32Shawne Williams scores seven points
Shawne Williams started against the Suns on Monday and had seven points, six boards and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes.

Mon Dec 23 201313:59Shawne Williams to start vs. Phoenix
Shawne Williams will start at power forward against the Suns on Monday.
It could be a matchup-based decision with the Suns often using some smaller lineups, so it's unclear if this move will stick. Williams has only two games in double-figure scoring on the season, so there's little reason to pick him up in most leagues even with the starting distinction tonight. Jordan Hill will come off the bench tonight and could still have a bounce-back game.

Wed Dec 11 201301:53Shawne Williams plays 15 minutes in start
Shawne Williams started for the Lakers at power forward on Tuesday, sending Robert Sacre to the bench, but had just four points and four rebounds in 15 minutes.
Jordan Hill played just 19 minutes off the bench, but hit 5-of-6 shots for 13 points and seven rebounds. Williams didn't do much with his starting opportunity the last time he got it, so just keep an eye on him for now.

Tue Dec 10 201314:14Shawne Williams starts, Robert Sacre benched
Shawne Williams will start for the Lakers on Tuesday, sending Robert Sacre to the bench.
Mike D'Antoni lamented his team's poor interior defense but the Lakers don't have any enforcers waiting on the bench, so instead he's going small to match up with the Suns. Williams and Channing Frye may exchange a few 3-pointer tonight, but that's about the extent of Williams' fantasy appeal.

Sat Nov 30 201300:04Shawne Williams scores 20 off the bench
Shawne Williams scored a season-high 20 points against the Pistons on Friday, making six 3-pointers to go with nine boards, three assists, two steals and one block in 31 minutes.
Jordan Hill dealt with some ankle problems tonight to allow Williams to get some extra playing time. Williams was the opening-night starter at power forward and had five starts in that spot, but averaged just 3.2 points in 13.6 minutes. His previous season-high was seven, so fantasy owners won't have an affinity to picking him up in anything but a very deep league.

Thu Oct 31 201302:41Shawne Williams disappears in ugly loss
Shawne Williams played just 12 minutes and failed to score on Wednesday, missing his only shot after starting at power forward again.
Ugh. The good news is that with all the hot free agents floating on waiver wires right now, owners have someone to cut. He played just 13 minutes on Tuesday and scored three points.

Wed Oct 30 201302:19Shawne Williams crashes and burns in opener
Shawne Williams got the start against the Clippers on Tuesday, playing just 13 minutes and posting a line of three points, three rebounds, one steal, two blocks and one turnover.
He was getting plenty of shots on the perimeter to close the preseason, but this was not exactly a great way to kick off his year. If you want to cut Williams for a hot free agent like teammate Jordan Farmar, it makes sense.
