Tue Oct 29 201314:41Shawne Williams to start at PF for Lakers
Shawne Williams will start at PF alongside Pau Gasol in the Lakers' frontcourt on Tuesday.
Williams already said he would be starting, but now it's been confirmed by Mike D'Antoni. With solid 3-point range and no other 'stretch PFs' battling him for the job, Williams is worth stashing on your bench as a source of scoring, 3-pointers and rebounds, with the ability to chip in a few steals and blocks.

Mon Oct 28 201316:39Shawne Williams to start at PF on Tuesday
Shawne Williams confirmed that he will start at PF for the Lakers in Tuesday's season opener.
Mike D'Antoni covets Williams' shooting range, which earned him the nod over more traditional big men Jordan Hill and Chris Kaman. He's never averaged more than 21 minutes per game, which he did with the Knicks in 2010-11 while averaging career-highs of 7.1 points, 1.3 triples, 3.7 boards, 0.6 steals and 0.8 blocks. Assuming he gets enough playing time, all of those numbers should go up.

Sun Oct 27 201319:18Williams, Blake, Young all probable starters
Shawne Williams joined Steve Blake, Nick Young, Steve Nash and Pau Gasol as "probable starters" according to a Lakers release.
No surprises, here. How many minutes Williams can handle is certainly up for debate, but he fits the Mike D'Antoni mold just about perfectly. Give him a look as a player positioned to tap into some unknown levels of upside, while Young and Blake have been on the radar for a while for their respective contribution levels with or without Kobe Bryant.

Sun Oct 27 201316:43Shawne Williams likely to start at PF
Mike D'Antoni still hasn't named his starting lineup, but it appears that Shawne Williams is still in line to start at power forward.
He started the last three preseason games there and while he may not stick with the starters over the long haul, he's worth a look in the last round of your draft. Power forwards who hit 3-pointers are tough to come by and he hit two more of them in Friday's finale against the Jazz.

Assuming he doesn't fall on his face against the Jazz, Williams is very likely to be inserted into the starting lineup for the regular-season opener.

Wed Oct 23 201301:20Shawne Williams struggles in start at PF
Shawne Williams started at power forward on Tuesday and hit 3-of-10 shots and two 3-pointers for nine points, five rebounds and a block in 18 minutes.
We reported earlier tonight that it looks like Mike D'Antoni is leaning toward starting Williams at PF and bringing Chris Kaman off the bench. Even if that happens, Kaman still looks like a better player to own than Williams, although he is certainly worth keeping a close eye on if he is indeed named the starter.

Tue Oct 22 201321:22Lakers considering starting Shawne Williams?
Reporter Mike Trudell wrote on Twitter Tuesday that it's possible Shawne Williams will start at power forward for the Lakers this season.
That would allow Pau Gasol to start at center, while big guys like Chris Kaman and Jordan Hill would come off the bench to face opposing second units. This is by no means a done deal, but it does sound like Williams could start the season out of position as the starter at power forward. And if it happens, look for him to shoot a lot of 3-pointers for the Lakers.

Wed Sep 4 201310:03Shawne Williams has a shot at Lakers' roster
Shawne Williams' contract with the Lakers is a partially-guaranteed one-year deal at the veterans minimum.
The Lakers only have 13 players under contract, and Williams played for Mike D'Antoni during their time with the Knicks, so he should have a shot at making the roster during training camp. If he does make the team, he'll be a reserve 3-point shooter with negligible fantasy value.

Tue Sep 3 201321:22Report: Shawne Williams signed by Lakers
The L.A. Times' Eric Pincus is reporting that the Lakers have signed free agent F Shawne Williams, although no contract specifics have been announced.
Williams last played for the Blazers and plead guilty to marijuana charges back in February of 2013. He was drafted by Larry Bird and the Pacers with the 17th pick of the 2006 draft, but fell out of favor after his SUV was pulled over and marijuana was discovered in 2007. He's bounced around the league ever since, putting in his best work for Mike D'Antoni's Knicks a couple years ago, but could be a key player for the Lakers, who are quite thin at small forward. And we're guessing that the arrival of Williams likely means Michael Beasley is not in play for the Lakers.

Free agent swingman Shawne Williams will participate in Lakers training camp.
Mike D'Antoni reportedly likes him from their time in New York, which isn't surprising since Williams can shoot the three-ball and that's about it.

The Knicks worked out Shawne Williams on Monday and will work out Quincy Douby on Tuesday.
The team is trying to get younger and cheaper on the bench, so the club will look to dip into the clearance aisle in their search for free agents. Williams has a history with the team and could be brought back after previous success.

Wed Sep 19 201216:43Knicks not interested in Shawne Williams
Free agent Shawne Williams would like to return to the Knicks for the minimum salary, but the team is not interested.
He's still got a chance at landing with the Hawks or Bobcats, while the Knicks are said to be more interested in a big back up for Amare Stoudemire and his fragile knees. Kenyon Martin and Lou Amundson are a couple of possibilities for the Knicks, but despite having Steve Novak, the Knicks are still one of the worst shooting 3-point teams in the league, and Williams could help them in that area.

Thu Aug 23 201209:36Wizards interested in signing Shawne Williams
The Wizards have expressed interest in unrestricted FA Shawne Williams, a source tells the Washington Post.
Williams was waived by the Blazers in July and is an unrestricted free agent after going unclaimed. After signing with the Nets before last season, Williams appeared in just 25 games before going down with a season-ending foot injury. Williams will have to prove he's healthy, and he's highly unlikely to pop up on the fantasy radar no matter where he ultimately signs.
