Thu Oct 9 201420:33Reece (quadriceps) limited participant in practice Thursday
Reece (quadriceps) was a limited participant in practice Thursday.
The quad issue, which interim coach Tony Sparano termed a "sprain" earlier in the week, limited Reece both Wednesday and Thursday, but there's been nothing to suggest his Week 6 availability is in serious jeopardy. Reece has touched the ball nine times through four games this season (two carries, seven receptions), and while his role could expand under Sparano, offensive coordinator Greg Olson is still the playcaller for the Raiders.

Reece hauled in one of two targets for five yards in last Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.
Offensive coordinator Greg Olson seemed to make a concerted effort to get Reece the ball in Week 3, as he was targeted seven times in the passing game and also received a carry. In Week 4, however, Reece went right back to serving primarily a blocker, touching the ball just once in yet another Raiders loss. Dennis Allen lost his job, and while new coach Tony Sparano may make it a priority to get the Pro Bowl fullback more touches, Reece won't be worthy of consideration in most formats until an expanded role is well established.

Reece did not carry the ball in last Sunday's loss to the Texans, but did haul in his lone target for 11 yards.
Even with Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) sidelined, Reece was not a factor in the team's rushing attack, as he once again served primarily as a blocker against Houston. The expectation was that Reece, who reported to camp at a slimmed-down 238 pounds, would be more involved in the team's passing game this season. However, offensive coordinator Greg Olson has not made it a priority to get Reece the ball, so even if Jones-Drew ends up sitting again this week, Reece will not be worthy of consideration in most leagues.

Reece carried the ball once for no gain and caught two passes for one yard in Sunday's loss to the Jets.
Needless to say, it was a disappointing 2014 opener for Reece, but his performance was just a microcosm of the Raiders' offensive struggles as a whole. The team totaled all of 158 yards in the game. He could see more opportunities on the ground this week if Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) is forced to sit, but until he earns more touches, Reece will make for a difficult hold in fantasy leagues. That said, the slimmed-down Reece should at least continue to see the occasional dumpoff pass, even if his opportunities on the ground remain limited.

Reece (foot) is expected to play in Friday's preseason game against the Packers, the Bay Area News Group reports. "He looked good out there running around so he should be good to go for the game," coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday.
The Raiders ordered X-ray and MRI exams after Reece suffered the injury in last Friday's exhibition game, but coach Dennis Allen has not disclosed the results, instead opting to go no further than to identify his injury as a "foot." Reece has reported improvement in the last two days and does not believe the ailment will require maintenance throughout the regular season. However, he's still in a protective boot, and while Reece thinks he'll be fine to go Friday, there's an outside chance Allen could change his mind about Reece playing.
Mon Aug 18 201416:12Reece (foot) missed practice Monday
Reece (foot) missed practice Monday, sfgate.com reports.
We'll consider Reece, who is dealing with some foot soreness, day-to-day for now. While the fullback's role in the Raiders' attack out of the gate is unclear, Reece -- a capable pass-catcher -- has occasionally provided fantasy utility in the past, when pressed into extended action due to injuries in the Oakland backfield.
Wed Jul 30 201420:39Reece reported to camp at 238 pounds
Reece reported to camp at 238 pounds, down from 250 pounds last season, and he may be more involved in the Raiders' passing attack, ESPN.com reports.
The versatile Reece was supposed to take on a more prominent role in 2013, but he ended up seeing 33 fewer touches than he did in 2012, as he once again served primarily as a blocking fullback. While his opportunities as a ballcarrier figure to remain limited in 2014, with Maurice Jones-Drew now in Oakland and Latavius Murray healthy, it sounds like the slimmed-down Reece may act as quarterback Matt Schaub's security blanket on passing downs. For his career, Reece has hauled in 138-of-210 targets for 1,481 yards and eight touchdowns.
Mon Jul 28 201408:43Marcel Reece slims down to 238 pounds
Marcel Reece now weighs 238 pounds, his lightest since college.
It's clearly a move by the versatile fullback to improve his quickness in the passing game, but we wouldn't expect a big role change for Reece this season. The Raiders have two pass-catching backs in Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden, and the team has annually only used Reece as an offensive weapon when absolutely forced. He had just 46 carries and 32 catches in 16 games last season.

Sun Dec 22 201320:56Marcel Reece limited to four touches
Marcel Reece had four catches for 26 yards in Week 16 against the Chargers.
Reece didn't receive any carries, but managed six targets in the passing game. He saw his role decreased again this week with Darren McFadden healthy and dropped a touchdown on the last play of the game. Reece will remain behind Rashad Jennings and McFadden for touches in Week 17 against the Broncos.

Wed Dec 11 201321:14Marcel Reece to fade into the background
The Oakland Tribune expects Marcel Reece to "again recede into the background" with Rashad Jennings cleared from his concussion.
The Trib's Jerry McDonald is the second Raiders beat writer to expect Jennings to immediately assume a clear-cut lead back role in Week 15, despite Reece's 161-yard, one-score shredding of the Jets' formerly league-best run defense. "Whatever these coaches need me to do, whatever my team needs me to do, I'm going to do it," said ultimate team player Reece. Look for Reece to be Jennings' change-of-pace back this week against Kansas City.

Sun Dec 8 201310:59Marcel Reece to be feature back for OAK
Marcel Reece will be the Raiders feature back in Sunday's game against the Jets.
Rashad Jennings (concussion), Darren McFadden (ankle) and Jeremy Stewart (knee/ankle) are all out. It leaves the versatile Reece, a college wideout turned NFL fullback, as the starting tailback. It's a role Reece shined in previously as he piled up 13.5 carries for 65.2 yards and 5.0 catches for 48.7 yards per day in four November 2012 starts. He won't find much running room against Rex Ryan's league-best run defense, but desperate PPR owners can execute a plug-n-play strategy at their flex spot.

Sun Nov 24 201320:10Marcel Reece steps up with big game
Marcel Reece rushed five times for 14 yards and caught four passes for 44 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's Week 12 loss to the Titans.
Reece thought he had a game-winner when he caught a 27-yard touchdown from Matt McGloin with 6:17 to go. But the Titans went on a game-winning drive to squeeze out a 23-19 win. Any owner thinking about chasing Reece's numbers from this one should note that he had just 17 carries and 17 catches through the first 10 games. He's a far better real-life player than fantasy asset.

Sun Nov 17 201316:51Marcel Reece gets six touches in win
Marcel Reece rushed four times for six yards and caught two passes for 17 yards in Sunday's Week 11 win at Houston.
Even with Darren McFadden (hamstring) down, Reece has not earned a real piece of the running game. He also had a really bad drop on a perfectly thrown ball from Matt McGloin in the first half. Reece shouldn't be on any fantasy rosters.

Sun Nov 10 201317:54Marcel Reece has three-catch afternoon
Marcel Reece caught three passes for 30 yards in Oakland's Week 10 loss to the Giants.
Even with Darren McFadden sidelined, Reece was held without a rush attempt. He's well off the re-draft league radar.

Sun Nov 3 201320:29Marcel Reece held to no gain in loss vs. PHI
Marcel Reece was held to no gain on his lone carry in Oakland's Week 9 loss to the Eagles.
Reece caught just two passes for 22 yards. That's despite the fact that Darren McFadden missed nearly 75 percent of the game with a hamstring injury. Reece was No. 3 on the ball carrier depth chart behind Rashad Jennings and Jeremy Stewart. There's no fantasy value here for the 2012 folk hero.

Sun Oct 27 201320:06Marcel Reece held to 10 yards on 3 carries
Marcel Reece managed three rushes for ten yards in the Raiders' Week 8 win over the Steelers.
The Raiders say publicly seemingly every week that they want "more touches" for Reece, but it never happens. He's never a recommended fantasy flex play.

Wed Oct 16 201313:48Raiders reiterate they want Reece involved
Coach Dennis Allen reiterated the team wants to get Marcel Reece more touches.
"We've got to do a better job of making sure we put him in positions where he's getting his touches because he is a good player for us," Allen said. This isn't the first time the Raiders have expressed a desire to get Reece more looks. GM Reggie McKenzie said the same thing a month ago. Reece touched the ball one time last week. There just aren't enough balls to go around in Oakland.

Sun Oct 13 201318:06Marcel Reece held without a carry vs. Chiefs
Marcel Reece caught one pass for nine yards in Oakland's Week 6 loss to the Chiefs, and was held without a carry.
Reece wasn't a part of the running game with both Darren McFadden (hamstring) and Rashad Jennings (hamstring) healthy and active. Reece can be safely cut loose in fantasy leagues.

Fri Oct 11 201313:57Marcel Reece practices again Friday
Marcel Reece (knee) participated in Raiders practice again Friday.
Reece will be all systems go against the Chiefs, but hasn't been a big part of the Raiders' offense in terms of touches. He's not a fantasy option.
