Thu Nov 29 201219:30Reece to be used as a halfback in Week 13
Raiders OC Greg Knapp confirmed that Marcel Reece to be used primarily as a halfback as opposed to a fullback in Week 13 versus the Browns.z
Darren McFadden (ankle) will be "eased back into the mix." For those with short memories, Adrian Peterson and Maurice Jones-Drew were also going to be "eased in" early in the season, only to see big workloads once the coaching staff realized they were the best option. In other words, this is likely to be a hot hand situation on Sunday. Neither Raiders back is a strong RB2 option.

Thu Nov 29 201209:12Raiders want Reece to stay involved
Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Marcel Reece will remain involved in the running game even if Darren McFadden (ankle) returns this week.
Both McFadden and Mike Goodson (ankle) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns. In the three games they've been out, Reece has averaged 15.6 carries and ripped off 4.78 YPC. "Marcel has earned the right to carry the ball some," Allen said. "We'll use him in that capacity." The Raiders won't completely go away from Reece, but he's going to see a drastic reduction in overall touches if McFadden does suit up. Only owners in deeper PPR formats would be able to consider him a viable flex play.

Sun Nov 25 201216:53Marcel Reece goes for 103 total yards
Marcel Reece rushed 15 times for 74 yards and caught four passes for 29 yards in the Raiders' Week 12 loss to Cincinnati.
He was targeted eight times in the passing game. The 103 total yards are a relative disappointment for Reece's fantasy owners, but he was always more of a flex play than an elite scorer in the first place. Reece admitted this past week that Darren McFadden (ankle) will resume bellcow back status when he returns. The Raiders face the Browns in Week 13, and DMC's availability is uncertain.

Sun Nov 18 201219:22Reece totals 193 yards on 23 touches in loss
Marcel Reece rushed for 103 yards on 19 carries and caught four passes for 90 yards in Sunday's Week 11, 38-17 loss to the Saints.
Reece was the lone Raiders player to show up for the game. The only thing missing for fantasy owners was a trip to the end zone. Darren McFadden (ankle) and Mike Goodson's (ankle) statuses for Week 12 against the Bengals are still uncertain, but Reece has at least earned himself more opportunities. Reece is a must-hold in fantasy and will get a shot at Cincinnati's No. 20 run defense in Week 12 if DMC is ruled out.

Thu Nov 15 201208:29Marcel Reece will remain Raiders' lead back
Raiders coach Dennis Allen confirmed he'll stick with the same running back rotation he used last week.
Both Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson are expected to sit out at least one more game. That means Reece, who played on 77.3 percent of the snaps against the Ravens, will be the bell cow once again. He'll be supported by Jeremy Stewart and Taiwan Jones will be sprinkled in if he has a good week of practice. We can safely project another 10-15 carries and 4-7 catches for Reece. This time, he'll be facing the Saints' No. 28 defense.

Mon Nov 12 201214:45Reece plays 52 more snaps than Taiwan Jones
Marcel Reece played 58-of-75 snaps in Sunday's loss, while Taiwan Jones played just six snaps at running back.
There was no committee. Jones played eight fewer snaps than Jeremy Stewart, who was signed off the practice squad Saturday. Reece's 20 touches were 10 more than Stewart and Jones combined. He totaled 104 yards (5.2 yards per touch). Darren McFadden will reportedly be ready to return this week, but if not, Reece will be the only viable play in any format of fantasy.

Sun Nov 11 201216:51Reece dominates OAK backfield over Taiwan
Marcel Reece started the Raiders' Week 10 game over Taiwan Jones, and finished with 13 rushes for 48 yards to go with 56 yards on seven receptions.
Jones, a popular Sleeper of the Week in fantasy circles, was Oakland's third-string tailback behind Reece (20 touches) and Saturday practice squad callup Jeremy Stewart (7 touches). Jones got three touches. Although a largely ineffective carrier of the football, Reece played a major role in the Weeks 9-10 passing games and figures to be the primary back once again in Week 11, assuming Mike Goodson and Darren McFadden don't return against the Saints. Consider Reece an every-week PPR flex until Goodson and/or McFadden come back.

Sun Nov 11 201213:19Marcel Reece gets the start over Taiwan Jones
Marcel Reece was the Raiders' starting tailback in Sunday's Week 10 game against the Ravens.
Taiwan Jones didn't play on Oakland's first or second offensive possession. We'll keep track of the situation throughout Sunday's game; Jones does figure to see some snaps if the Raiders keep it close and/or jump out to an early lead. But so far, the fullback Reece has operated as Oakland's every-down back.

Thu Nov 8 201221:54Reece, Jones splitting first-team RB reps
Coach Dennis Allen confirmed that Marcel Reece and Taiwan Jones have both taken snaps with the first-team offense this week.
"We'll play to the strength of the backs we're going to use," OC Greg Knapp said. Translation: Reece's touches will come primarily in the passing game, as he's not trusted to be the primary ball-carrier. Rotoworld ranks him 30th among running back options for Week 10. Reece is a better bet in PPR formats than standard-scoring leagues.

Sun Nov 4 201220:19Marcel Reece goes for 95 yards, touchdown
Raiders FB Marcel Reece caught eight passes for 95 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's Week 9 loss to the Buccaneers.
The league's most athletic fullback took over as Oakland's primary back following Darren McFadden (leg) and Mike Goodson's (ankle) injuries. A sure-handed pass catcher with some wheels, Reece caught a touchdown down the right side of the end zone to make this one a game, and was a favorite checkdown option for Carson Palmer late in the contest. We'll need to find out more about McFadden and Goodson's injuries entering Week 10, but for now Reece has the look of a potentially high-upside flex option at Baltimore.

Mon Sep 10 201209:34Marcel Reece getting extension
Raiders will sign FB Marcel Reece to a contract extension prior to Monday's game against the Chargers.
The former undrafted free agent out of Washington has become one of the most dynamic fullbacks in the game. Last year, the unique athlete caught 27 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns in addition to his lead-blocking duties. Reece was set to earn $540K in 2012, the final year of his contract.

Wed Jun 6 201221:53Raiders to use Reece in passing game?
Coach Dennis Allen confirmed that he could use Marcel Reece in the passing game.
Reece has only been practicing with the Raiders for a few days after signing his tender on Monday, but Allen is well aware of the fullback's unique athleticism. "Where he really excels is in the passing game and the different mismatches that he can create," the new coach said. Reece also figures to get some more carries this season thanks to Michael Bush's departure. Reece had 413 total yards on just 44 touches in 2011.

Mon Jun 4 201216:58Raiders FB Reece finally signs ERFA tender
Raiders re-signed exclusive rights free agent FB Marcel Reece to a one-year, $540,000 contract.
After skipping OTAs in search of a more lucrative long-term contract, Reece finally caved and signed his tender offer. Easily the most athletically dominant lead blocker in the game, Reece led all true fullbacks in receiving (301) and rushing (112) yards last season. He could see an increase in short-yardage work going forward with Michael Bush out of the picture.

Mon Mar 12 201218:07Raiders tender four players
Raiders tendered contracts to exclusive rights free agents FB Marcel Reece, DE Mason Brodine and CB Bryan McCann.
The Raiders also tendered restricted free agent DE Desmond Bryant. Keeping Reece was a priority for the Raiders after he caught a combined 52 passes for 634 yards the past two seasons. With Michael Bush expected to depart via free agency, it's possible Reece will see his role in the running game grow in 2012.

Sat Jan 28 201211:20'106.392 percent' Raiders re-sign Reece
According to the Contra Costa Times' Steve Corkran, there is a "106.392 percent" chance the Raiders re-sign restricted free agent FB Marcel Reece.
Reece is only an average blocker, but has been a big contributor in the Raiders' passing game the past two seasons, reeling in a combined 52 passes for 634 yards and five scores. With Hue Jackson gone, however, it's not a given Reece will be used as heavily in 2012.

Tue Dec 6 201111:11Dolphins took Reece out of the game
Coach Hue Jackson said Marcel Reece was a primary part of the game plan against the Dolphins.
Reece ended up with just two touches. "We tried to get him involved early," Jackson said. "We shifted him out there, and they played one way. We shifted him out there again, and they played another way. Obviously, they wanted to take him out of the game." With Denarius Moore (foot) and Jacoby Ford (foot) possibly back this week, Reece won't be a realistic fantasy option.

Sun Nov 27 201120:10Marcel Reece racks up 92 receiving yards
Raiders FB Marcel Reece caught five passes for a team-high 92 yards and rushed twice for a net gain of zero in the team's Week 12 win over the Bears.
Reece became the Raiders' go-to option in the passing game with Denarius Moore (ankle) and Jacoby Ford (foot) out. The former college wideout showed his freaky long speed on a 47-yard reception, most of the yardage coming after the catch. Reece will likely come back to Earth when the Raiders' receivers return healthy. He won't be a serious fantasy option against the Dolphins in Week 13.

Sun Nov 20 201117:02Marcel Reece gets eight touches in Week 11
Raiders FB Marcel Reece rushed six times for 45 yards and caught two passes for 16 yards in the team's Week 11 win over the Vikings.
Reece essentially replaced Taiwan Jones (2-3) as the Raiders' No. 2 back behind Michael Bush, looking relatively impressive playmaking ability for a fullback. Reece's week-to-week fantasy upside involves about 8-10 touches. He wouldn't be a realistic flex option barring injuries to Darren McFadden, Bush, and Jones.

Sun Nov 6 201120:24Marcel Reece catches a TD in loss
Marcel Reece caught three passes for 51 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Broncos.
Reece certainly isn't used as a tradition fullback. The highly-athletic ex-wideout was consistently deep down the field, showing exceptional hands for a 40-yard score on a seam pattern. Reece now has nine catches and two touchdowns in four games this season.

Tue Oct 25 201115:36Raiders FB Reece resumes practicing
Raiders FB Marcel Reece (ankle) resumed practicing on Tuesday.
Reece missed four games with the ankle injury, but he should be good to go coming out of the bye against the Broncos in Week 9. Reece has two rushes for 15 yards and six receptions for 43 yards in three games this season.
