Sun Dec 5 201017:52Williams starts, but plays behind Davis
Keiland Williams rushed five times for 29 yards and added two catches for two yards in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
Williams started, but for the second straight week he played behind James Davis for most of the game. It's a miserable situation for fantasy owners, and it doesn't help that the Redskins are consistently trailing in games. Williams' arrow is pointing down, especially with Ryan Torain expected back.
Mon Nov 29 201015:59Shanahan won't name starting running back
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan would not tip his hand Monday when asked about his starting running back for Week 13.
Keiland Williams started Sunday's loss to the Vikings, but played behind James Davis on early downs throughout the game. With so little clarity and a matchup with the Giants on deck, the Redskins' backfield should be avoided completely in fantasy leagues. Ryan Torain could also reenter the mix shortly.

Sun Nov 28 201016:39Williams loses grip on early-down gig
Keiland Williams rushed just three times for five yards and added four catches for 21 yards in Sunday's loss to the Vikings.
Williams started, but quickly lost the early-down work to James Davis. By the end of the game, it looked like Williams was relegated mostly to passing-down duty. Neither back was effective at all, which will likely lead to a timeshare going forward. It's a low-upside situation in fantasy.
Sun Nov 21 201009:51Williams will not get first carry of game
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Keiland Williams will not draw the start in Week 11.
That distinction will go to Clinton Portis. Knowing Mike Shanahan, the only guarantee is that Portis will get the first carry of the game; everything else is a crapshoot. Williams came into Sunday as our 27th ranked running back for Week 11, but the news that Portis is seemingly healthy enough to be the team's starter makes Williams even less of an attractive play.

Fri Nov 19 201014:27Keiland Williams won't start against Titans?
The Washington Post suggests that Keiland Williams is no lock to be the Redskins' featured tailback in Week 11.
Writes the Post's Rick Maese, "If (Clinton) Portis handles the bulk of the workload Sunday, Williams could return to his role as the team's third-down back." We do tentatively expect Williams to handle most of the carries and catches for Washington, but it's another reminder that Mike Shanahan backfields are far from reliable sources of fantasy value. A tough matchup with Tennessee makes the situation that much sketchier.

Tue Nov 16 201001:35Williams takes full advantage of opportunity
Keiland Williams carried the ball 16 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns and added four receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown in Monday's Week 10 loss to Philadelphia.
139 of the least important yards we've seen in a long time. The beneficiary of Ryan Torain's pre-game hamstring strain, Williams saw all but one of the team's carries in the 59-28 blowout loss. Though he showed only mediocre speed and agility running the ball, he was especially effective getting open in the passing game and led the team in receptions. He needs to be picked up in all formats. Whether or not he should be started hinges on the injury status of Ryan Torain and Clinton Portis.
Mon Nov 15 201020:36Keiland Williams gets start over Ryan Torain
Keiland Williams was the starting running back for Monday's Week 10 game, instead of Ryan Torain.
Torain apparently could not get his hamstring loose during pregame warmups. He was seen riding an exercise bicycle on the sideline during the team's first drive trying to get his hamstring ready, but it remains to be seen if he'll play.
Sun Oct 31 201018:17Williams totals 51 yards, TD in Week 8
Keiland Williams rushed six times for 25 yards and a touchdown and added three receptions for 28 yards against the Lions in Week 8.
The Redskins had just two backs active, so Williams went from third-down back to feature back in the second half with Ryan Torain (hamstring) sidelined. Torain never came close to returning, but he has an extra week to get healthy with the Redskins entering their bye.
Tue Oct 12 201015:26Williams plays 25 snaps in Week 5
Keiland Williams played 25 snaps in Week 5 compared to 55 for starter Ryan Torain.
Torain had 16 carries to just one for Williams, an indication that the latter is being used on obvious passing downs as the superior blocker/receiver. Williams won't have fantasy value unless Torain goes down with an injury.

Sat Oct 9 201017:34RB Keiland Williams signed by Redskins
Redskins signed RB Keiland William off their practice squad.
WR Devin Thomas was cut to make room on the 53-man roster for Ryan Torain's backup. With all the veteran dead weight gone from the Redskins' backfield, Williams is worth a roster stash in 12-team leagues.

Wed Oct 6 201011:57Redskins expected to sign RB Williams
The Redskins are expected to sign RB Keiland Williams off their practice squad prior to Sunday's game against the Packers.
Clinton Portis (groin) is out this week, so Williams will get another shot. Ryan Torain is expected to remain the feature carrier on early downs, though Mike Shanahan can be quick to switch gears in the backfield if a player fumbles or doesn't exhibit a "hot hand" early in games. Williams is worth grabbing in deep leagues. Torain isn't a safe flex or RB2 start in Week 5.

Sat Oct 2 201017:39Keiland Williams waived by 'Skins
RB Keiland Williams was waived by the Redskins, and was replaced on the roster by WR Brandon Banks, who was signed off the practice squad.
Washington needs help on special teams, and Chad Simpson figures to be more versatile as the No. 3 back. Ryan Torain's kung-fu grip on the backup job behind creaky Clinton Portis is as tight as ever. If Torain is unowned in your league, grab him. Now.

Fri Sep 24 201012:48Shanahan impressed with RB Williams
Coach Mike Shanahan has been impressed with backup RB Keiland Williams' ability to pick up the offense and pass protection quickly as a rookie.
Williams acknowledged that he remains Clinton Portis' backup in the "sub downs, third-down package role." His snaps won't increase significantly barring an injury to Portis, but he's well worth carrying in 12-team leagues.

Wed Sep 22 201013:02Keiland Williams moves up depth chart
Redskins coaches have confirmed to rookie Keiland Williams that he'll be the team's No. 2 running back going forward.
It seems obvious given Tuesday's release of Larry Johnson, but is worth noting for a No. 2 running back, behind a starter who's averaging 3.0 yards per touch. Williams has yet to receive an NFL carry, but it wouldn't be surprising if he's thrown right into the mix as an 8-10 touch per game player against the Rams. The Skins should at least build a big lead with the passing game hitting on all cylinders. Williams is the ideal Week 3 waiver wire add.

Sat Aug 14 201015:33Williams takes step toward making team
Rookie RB Keiland Williams "took the first step toward making the team" with Friday's performance against the Bills, according to beat writer Rich Campbell.
Williams showed the necessary patience for the Redskins' cut-back running attack, and he ran downhill with power. He "ducked his head" twice in pass protection, however, which could be a major sticking point for a rookie-year contribution.

Fri Aug 13 201023:01Keiland Williams scores twice in exhibition
Rookie RB Keiland Williams rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries in the Redskins' preseason opener.
He added a seven-yard catch. Williams lacks ideal long speed, but is a physical back with good vision. He and Ryan Torain were essentially interchangeable. Williams got the red-zone carries, scoring from two and seven yards out. The undrafted rookie has a good shot to make the team as a No. 4 back.
Tue Aug 10 201015:28Undrafted RB Williams impresses Shanahan
Undrafted rookie RB Keiland Williams has impressed coach Mike Shanahan with his pass protection and running skills.
"He catches the ball. He's got a big upside," said Shanahan. "I like the way he's handled himself thus far." Williams is tied with Willie Parker for fourth on the depth chart. Considering Shanny's history of turning unknown backs into household fantasy names, Williams is a player to keep in mind in Dynasty leagues.
