Mon May 30 201114:03Jim Harbaugh refuses to discuss David Carr
Jim Harbaugh has not mentioned David Carr's name since taking over as 49ers head coach in January.
Harbaugh "has essentially declined comment" whenever asked by reporters about Carr, who is owed an unreasonable $2.375 million salary. Clearly, he's not part of Harbaugh's plans. The 49ers will go forward with Alex Smith in the No. 1 quarterback spot and rookie Colin Kaepernick behind him. After cutting Carr, they could bring in someone like Charlie Frye to serve as a camp arm.

Mon May 30 201108:45Carr talks about the lockout
Backup QB David Carr has compared learning the 49ers' new offense during the lockout to "trying to learn a language without a teacher."
How quickly Carr ends up picking up San Francisco's new offense is not fantasy relevant, but his words do speak to what so many around the NFL are currently going through. We are almost certainly going to be watching a sloppier, less refined product this season, if and when it happens.

Thu Feb 24 201116:32Report: Harbaugh was never high on Carr
As an assistant with the Raiders back in 2002, Jim Harbaugh reportedly graded No. 1 overall pick David Carr as a sixth-rounder.
While Harbaugh has stated his admiration for Alex Smith at least a half-dozen times since taking over as head coach, he's been coy on Carr's status. Based on his initial evaluation, Harbaugh will be looking to move in a different direction at backup QB.

Sun Nov 21 201014:4249ers declare Week 11 inactives
49ers declared QB David Carr, K Joe Nedney, CB Tramaine Brock, CB Will James, LB Keaton Kristick, LB Thaddeus Gibson, LT Joe Staley, and OT Alex Boone inactive for Week 11 against the Bucs.
Alex Smith (shoulder) will back up Troy Smith. With James nursing a concussion, Tarell Brown will take over as the nickelback.
Sun Oct 24 201018:32Carr can't lead the 49ers to victory Week 7
Backup QB David Carr completed just 5 of 13 passes for 67 yards and an interception in relief of an injured Alex Smith in a Week 7 loss to previously-winless Carolina.
Smith has already said he'll make the trip to London, but owners will have to wait on his MRI results before knowing if they'll need to pick up Carr as insurance. Even if Smith sits against the Broncos at Wembley Stadium, Carr should be left on waiver wires outside of 2-QB leagues.
Tue Jun 22 201014:22Carr showed improvement in June OTAs
After initially struggling during early OTAs, David Carr's accuracy "improved a lot" over the past few weeks.
Carr completed roughly 65 percent of his passes in 11-on-11 drills with about 20 percent of the quarterback reps. Coordinator Jimmy Raye wants Nate Davis to push Carr in training camp, but it would be a serious upset if Carr didn't begin the season as the No. 2 QB.
