Mon Nov 28 201100:49Steve Breaston held to 44 yards in loss
Steve Breaston caught four passes for 44 yards in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
Breaston's second game with Tyler Palko under center didn't go quite as well as the first, where he caught six passes for 73 yards. Averaging 3.9 catches for 54.5 yards, Breaston should be a safe WR3 down the stretch with the Kyle Orton era set to begin in Kansas City next weekend.

Tue Nov 22 201100:09Breaston catches six balls for 73 yards vs NE
Steve Breaston posted 73 yards on six catches against the Patriots on Monday night.
The Tyler Palko-led offense moved the ball at times, but still looked mostly awful against the league's worst passing defense. When they move onto the Steelers, Bears, and Jets over the next three weeks, they should grind to a halt. If you can get anything for Breaston in a trade, now would be the time to do it. We wouldn't be opposed to dropping him you need the roster spot, either.

Sun Nov 13 201121:09Breaston catches four balls for 33 yards
Steve Breaston had four receptions for 33 yards in Week 10 against the Broncos.
He and Jonathan Baldwin are vying for No. 2 targets on a bad passing team, and now Matt Cassel could miss time with either a shoulder injury or the injury he suffered to his throwing hand. Breaston was a flaky WR3 option at best before Cassel's injury, so it stands to reason that a downgrade to backup QB Tyler Palko would keep him out of lineups even in a good matchup against New England next week.

Sun Nov 6 201116:42Steve Breaston has 115 yards in Week 9
Steve Breaston caught seven passes for 115 yards in the Chiefs' Week 9 loss to the Dolphins.
He saw a team-high 11 targets. Jonathan Baldwin was much less productive (1-12) this week than last, so Breaston took advantage while matching up with the Dolphins' motley cast of defensive backs as Sean Smith shadowed Dwayne Bowe all over the field. Going forward, Breaston and Baldwin may swap big games back and forth. Consider Breaston a WR3 against the Broncos in Week 10.

Tue Nov 1 201101:27Breaston catches three balls for 42 yards
Steve Breaston caught three balls for 42 yards in Monday's Week 8 win over the Chargers.
Breaston's consistency had grown with 4-5 catches in each of the last three weeks, totaling 205 yards and two touchdowns, but his arrow is pointing down with rookie Jonathan Baldwin emerging. At this point he's a WR5 with little upside. You can do better.

Sun Oct 9 201118:26Breaston catches two touchdowns in Week 5
Steve Breaston caught four passes for 50 yards and two touchdowns in the Chiefs' Week 5 win over Indianapolis.
The touchdowns were Breaston's first and second since September of 2010. The Chiefs' passing game finally got on track against the Colts, with Breaston matching up against 5-foot-9, 190-pound nickel back Terrence Johnson for most of the game. Breaston is picking it up a bit after a painfully slow start in Kansas City. The Chiefs now go on a bye in Week 6.

Sun Oct 2 201116:09Steve Breaston has best game as a Chief
Steve Breaston caught four passes for 91 yards in the Chiefs' Week 4 win over Minnesota.
It was his best game as a Chief. Breaston finally flashed the ability to be a weapon, helping to open up the field for Dwayne Bowe. Still just a WR5 in fantasy, Breaston is on pace to catch 40 passes for 716 yards on the season and has yet to find the end zone. Don't bother starting him in Week 5 at Indianapolis.

Sun Sep 25 201119:52Breaston gets big catch while Bowe sidelined
Steve Breaston caught three passes for 55 yards in Sunday's loss to the Chargers.
Breaston made a pretty 43-yard catch in the fourth quarter that brought the Chiefs down to the Chargers' 1-yard line. But note that play came while Dwayne Bowe was on the sideline recovering from a big shot over the middle. When Bowe is in the game, Breaston doesn't even get a look from Matt Cassel.

Sun Sep 18 201117:09Breaston has another quiet day
Steve Breaston caught one pass for seven yards in Kansas City's Week 2 loss to the Lions.
He was targeted only twice after drawing just two looks in Week 1. The No. 2 receiver in a passing attack that's gone off the rails, Breaston is off the fantasy radar until further notice.

Fri Sep 9 201119:19Steve Breaston limited, listed as probable
Chiefs WR Steve Breaston was a late addition to the Week 1 injury report after being limited in Friday's practice with a hamstring injury.
We'd expect Breaston to play against the Bills because he's listed as probable, but this should be plenty of reason to keep him benched in fantasy leagues. Breaston didn't beat out Jerheme Urban for a starting job, and the K.C. game plan figures to be run-heavy against Buffalo. Hamstrings can also be tricky.

Mon Aug 22 201123:30Steve Breaston being limited in training camp
Steve Breaston had "some offseason work done" on his right knee and has been limited in Chiefs training camp.
It sounds like Breaston had surgery, which wouldn't be surprising considering the right knee has troubled him since the 2009 season. Breaston hasn't made much noise in Chiefs camp, and the team isn't even projecting him as a starter after signing Breaston to a five-year, $25 million head-scratcher in the offseason. He's not worth even a late-round flier in fantasy drafts.

Mon Aug 22 201110:15Breaston running behind Urban
Steve Breaston came off the bench behind Jerheme Urban in Friday's second preseason game.
Coach Todd Haley says he sees Breaston as more of a split end than a slot receiver. And in Haley's offense, the split end often uses his speed to run clear out routes. In the Chiefs' run-heavy offense, both Breaston and Urban are unappealing fantasy options.

Wed Jul 27 201119:48Chiefs close five-year deal with WR Breaston
Chiefs agreed to terms with WR Steve Breaston on a five-year contract with $9 million guaranteed.
The long-speculated move comes to fruition. We just can't help but think the Chiefs might live to regret this one. Breaston's right knee injury became so problematic down the stretch last season that he essentially lost his starting job to small-school rookie Andre Roberts. On the bright side, Breaston is a fairly young receiver (28) who when healthy can stretch the field and has familiarity with Todd Haley's offense. We suspect he'll end up playing more snaps than raw first-round rookie Jonathan Baldwin. It just won't be a good fantasy situation.

Wed Jul 27 201117:15Report: Chiefs favorites to sign WR Breaston
The Arizona Republic reports that the Cardinals have moved on from free agent Steve Breaston, and the Chiefs have emerged as the favorites to sign him.
Breaston has been on Kansas City's radar all along because of his connections to ex-Cardinals WRs coach Todd Haley, and the Chiefs apparently don't have a problem with his troublesome right knee. In K.C., Breaston would figure to compete outside with first-round pick Jonathan Baldwin for playing time and also see some action in the slot. If the Chiefs sign Breaston, Baldwin probably wouldn't be a 60-snap per game player in his rookie season.

Wed Jul 27 201112:31Report: Chiefs in on WR Steve Breaston
NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora confirms the Chiefs are indeed interested in free agent WR Steve Breaston.
Todd Haley was the wideouts coach and play-caller for Breaston in Arizona, so the move has been much speculated. The Chiefs are planning to open up the offense this year after running one of the most conservative offenses in the NFL last season.

Tue Jul 26 201113:10Breaston drawing interest from six teams
Free agent WR Steve Breaston had reportedly drawn interest from six teams as of Tuesday morning.
The Cardinals have already put a call into Breaston's agent, but they aren't expected to get into a bidding war to keep the slot receiver. The heavy early interest doesn't bode well for his chances of returning to Arizona.

Sat Jul 23 201114:24Chiefs unlikely to make run at Breaston?
The Kansas City Star's Kent Babb isn't expecting the Chiefs to make signing free agent WR Steve Breaston a "high priority."
Chiefs HC Todd Haley is obviously familiar with Breaston from his time in Arizona, but Babb thinks he's too similar to Dexter McCluster for the Chiefs to make a meaningful run at him. Breaston will have to prove his troublesome right knee is healthy before anyone gives him serious consideration.

Wed Jul 20 201122:32Steve Breaston says knee has been an issue
Appearing on XTRA 910 Arizona on Wednesday, free agent Steve Breaston conceded that "there were a lot of issues with my knee" during his time with the Cardinals.
"But I know I will be ready for the season," he insisted. Breaston is speaking of the right knee that has troubled him since 2009, an injury that required constant draining and at least one surgery. The knee an issue that teams will have to examine thoroughly before considering signing Breaston for big bucks.

Tue Jul 19 201114:32Cards will be 'careful' on offer to Breaston
The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers expects the Cardinals to be "careful" about their offer to free agent Steve Breaston.
"But they need to re-sign him," adds Somers, citing the inexperience of Early Doucet and Andre Roberts as well as Breaston's respect in the locker room. If the Cardinals do re-sign Breaston, trade for a QB, and rebuild the offensive line, there's plenty of fantasy potential in the desert this year.

Sun Jul 10 201118:25Breaston's return to Arizona is 'cloudy'
Free agent Steve Breaston's return is "cloudy," according to the Cardinals official website.
The Cardinals aren't going to overpay to keep an injury risk opposite Larry Fitzgerald, so Breaston's return depends on the strength of his market. It appeared that the coaching staff hard soured on Breaston when Andre Roberts was playing over him down the stretch last year.
