Mon Jul 4 201113:56Chiefs to make a run at Steve Breaston?
Pro Football Weekly speculates that the Chiefs could make a run at free agent Steve Breaston.
PFW cites no sources, but this is logical speculation. Chiefs coach Todd Haley was the Cardinals' wide receivers coach when Breaston broke into the league, and he could fill a need in the slot between Dwayne Bowe and Jonathan Baldwin. It's going to be interesting to see how valued Breaston is on the open market. He's flashed the ability to be a seam-stretching wideout, but has battled a recurring knee injury since the 2009 season.

Thu Mar 3 201115:01Steve Breaston draws first-round tender
Cardinals extended a first-round restricted free agent tender to Steve Breaston.
Breaston has fallen behind rookie Andre Roberts by the end of last season. In that sense, the high tender is a bit of a surprise. As a four-year player, though, Breaston is expected to hit the open market. The Cardinals won't overspend to keep him.

Thu Feb 3 201113:26Breaston in limbo heading into offseason
Impending free agent Steve Breaston doesn't expect to know his future team until late in the offseason.
Like 500 other free agents, Breaston is in limbo with the labor situation hanging over his head. The coaching staff's actions down the stretch, with Andre Roberts assuming the No. 2 receiver role, suggest they've soured on Breaston and his balky knee.

Sun Jan 2 201120:41Breaston held to 26 yards in Week 17
Steve Breaston caught four passes for just 26 yards in Week 17.
For the second straight week, Breaston played behind Andre Roberts, managing just six targets compared to 11 for the rookie. Breaston finishes his age-27 season with 47 receptions, 718 yards, and just one touchdown. He's due to reach free agency this offseason, and we wouldn't bank on a return to Arizona. The team appears to have lost faith in his ability to stay healthy.
Wed Dec 29 201008:31Will Breaston return in 2011?
The Arizona Repuplic's Kent Somers writes that the Cardinals "have shown little interest" in re-signing Steve Breaston.
Somers thinks the "most likely reason for lack of contract talks" is the condition of Breaston's right knee. Breaston had surgery on September 28 to repair a torn meniscus, a procedure that normally sidelines players 4-6 weeks, but he was back in three. His production has stalled recently and he's had swelling in the knee. It will be interesting to see what Arizona with him this offseason.

Mon Dec 27 201014:22Steve Breaston played reduced snap count
Steve Breaston's playing time was reduced on Christmas night due to lingering knee soreness.
He rotated with Andre Roberts and was held without a catch. Breaston is in a contract year and has dealt with knee issues for the past two seasons. It's something that could affect the Cardinals' future plans. They'd certainly like to have Breaston back, but seem unlikely to invest heavily in a brittle No. 2 receiver with Larry Fitzgerald also up for a new deal soon.

Sat Dec 25 201023:46Breaston held without a catch in Week 16
Steve Breaston was held without a catch against the Cowboys in Week 16.
Like Larry Fitzgerald, Breaston was just flat-out ignored by John Skelton, not even drawing a single target. Breaston has managed a grand total of four catches in three games started by Skelton. For the second straight week, his best play was a fumble recovery.
Fri Dec 17 201017:16Steve Breaston practices full
Steve Breaston (probable, knee) returned to a full practice Friday.
Breaston will play against the Panthers, but is only a WR4 this week.
Thu Dec 16 201016:08Breaston limited again on Thursday
Steve Breaston (knee) was limited in Thursday's practice.
Breaston is often limited in practice before playing on Sundays. He's not going to be a recommended fantasy option against a quality pass defense with rookie John Skelton starting at Carolina.

Sun Dec 12 201021:16Steve Breaston catches two balls for 18
Steve Breaston caught just two passes for 18 yards in the Cardinals' Week 14 win over the Broncos.
He added 17 yards on an end around. Larry Fitzgerald was a target monster and rookie John Skelton only had 15 completions, so the rest of the Arizona receiver corps was left with scraps. Keep Breaston benched against the Panthers in Week 15. The Cards should be able to run all day in that one.
Fri Dec 10 201018:18Steve Breaston probable, works fully
Steve Breaston (knee) progressed to a full practice Friday and is listed as probable for Week 14.
Breaston should be avoided in fantasy leagues with John Skelton at QB.
Thu Dec 9 201016:17Breaston limited again on Thursday
Steve Breaston (knee) was limited again on Thursday.
Breaston is often limited in Wednesday and Thursday practices before playing on Sunday. He'll be fine for this week's game. Rotoworld has Breaston ranked as the No. 38 fantasy option at receiver for Week 14.

Wed Dec 8 201016:49Cardinals limit Breaston in practice
Steve Breaston (knee) was limited in Cardinals practice Wednesday.
Breaston is often limited in early-week practices, but he's been active for six straight games. He'll be a poor WR3 bet with John Skelton under center.
Sun Dec 5 201020:00Steve Breaston has 62 yards on three grabs
Steve Breaston caught three balls for 62 yards in the Cardinals' Week 13 loss to the Rams.
He was lucky to get that many yards considering the Cards only completed 11 passes as a team while using three different quarterbacks. Breaston is a fine NFL receiver, but should be glued to fantasy benches against Denver in Week 14. No Cardinals wideout is easy to trust, including Larry Fitzgerald.
Fri Dec 3 201016:25Steve Breaston probable for Week 13
Steve Breaston (knee) is listed as probable for Week 13.
Breaston was limited in practice this week, but he's good to go against the Rams. We'd look elsewhere for a WR3 with Breaston coming off a 22-yard game.
Thu Dec 2 201016:17Breaston downgraded to limited Thursday
Steve Breaston (knee) was downgraded to limited in Thursday's practice.
Breaston is one of the few Cardinals that habitually play despite a limited tag, but it's never a good sign when a player is downgraded. Breaston is an unattractive WR3 play this week with Derek Anderson struggling mightily.

Tue Nov 30 201001:20Breaston has just two grabs in Cards' loss
Steve Breaston hauled in just two passes for 22 yards against the 49ers in Week 13.
It's a big setback, but the underwhelming stat-line has as much to do with Derek Anderson's struggles as it does with Breaston's play. Inconsistency at the quarterback position and Early Doucet's emergence as a threat limits Breaston to a WR3.
Sun Nov 21 201017:16Breaston catches 5 passes for 92 yards
Steve Breaston hauled in five passes for 92 yards against the Chiefs in Week 11.
Breaston got behind the Chiefs defense on two occasions only to be overthrown by Derek Anderson. He nearly had another long catch on an errant throw but couldn't hang on when his body came to the ground. Heading into next week's matchup against the 49ers, Breaston has cleared 90 yards in three of his last four games.
Sun Nov 14 201020:07Steve Breaston led Cardinals with 98 yards on four receptions ag...
Steve Breaston led the Cardinals with 98 yards on four receptions against the Seahawks in Week 10.
Breaston also racked up 123 yards in kickoff returns, taking over for an injured LaRod Stephens-Howling. He was tied for second on the team with 10 of Derek Anderson's 45 targets. Breaston is a boom-or-bust WR3 option at the Chiefs next week.
Sun Nov 7 201017:16Breaston really quiet in loss
Steve Breaston had just three catches for 28 yards in Sunday's overtime loss to the Vikings.
Breaston saw a ton of Antoine Winfield and predictably couldn't shake loose. He had just six targets, reminding everyone just how inconsistent he is. Breaston has two monster games this year and three duds. He'll be a risky WR3 option again against the Seahawks next week.
