Beat writer Kent Somers predicts that the Cards will be "extra cautious" with Stephens-Howling this week, probably holding him out of most practice work. Tue Sep 14 201008:23Stephens-Howling's touches up in the air
Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt admitted that he's not sure how many touches LaRod Stephens-Howling will get once Beanie Wells is back.
He'll get very few, that's how many. Stephens-Howling played well in Week 1, and Whisenhunt did add that "we can all see why that's important (to get Stephens-Howling touches)," but there simply won't be much to go around once Beanie is back, which will likely be in Week 2.

LaRod Stephens-Howling gained 49 yards on seven carries and 16 yards on three receptions in the Cardinals' Week 1 win.
Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt hinted in early August that Stephens-Howling might play a larger role in the club's offense this season and those hints came to life Sunday in St. Louis. This all should change when Beanie Wells returns, possibly as soon as next week, but the 23-year-old out of Pitt is worth monitoring in case there are injuries on the depth chart above him.
Wed Aug 4 201011:20Whiz sees bigger role for Stephens-Howling
Coach Ken Whisenhunt envisions a larger role for LaRod Stephens-Howling this year.
Whisenhunt apparently has some tricks up his sleeve involving Stephens-Howling, because the coach hinted that we won't see much of the speedy scatback in the preseason. Stephens-Howling will be a bigger part of the game plan each week and could end up eating into Tim Hightower's passing-down snaps.
