Avant made a nice over-the-shoulder grab in the end zone for a 22-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and displayed his vise-like hands in the fourth, turning a tipped ball of his own making into a diving 20-yard catch. The score was just his third since 2009. Avant has a pair of ball-mitt hands, but is entirely devoid of explosion. He remains off the radar for serious fantasy players.

Avant is coming off a career-high 53 catches last season, but is a middling talent and will face competition from Arrelious Been and UDFA Russell Shepard in training camp. Riley Cooper, Damaris Johnson, and Clay Harbor are also on the roster bubble.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports neither Jason Avant nor Clay Harbor are changing positions despite taking snaps on defense in OTAs.

Harbor ended up spending only one day at outside linebacker, while Avant took a handful of reps at defensive back. Reporter Jeff McLane describes the moves as "an effort to explore different scenarios." Avant says he's open to anything. "It's one of those things that I work hard, and whatever that may be, and whatever the team wants me to do, I'll do it," Avant said. "I'm going to do it the best I can. I don't necessarily think it's a clouded future. I think it's an honor, in any way, for any coach to think you can do other things."

Avant set a career-high with 53 catches last season, but he's nothing more than a middling slot talent with no big-play ability. The Eagles traded for Arrelious Benn, and Avant might be on the outside looking in at the 53-man roster.

Avant was a favorite of fired head coach Andy Reid.

Avant's first two catches came early on and ended up as third-down conversions, but he finished fourth on the team with his four targets. It's obvious that Nick Foles trusts the veteran receiver, but the sure-handed Avant should be left on waiver wires.

Rookie Nick Foles loves throwing to Avant, who now has 11 catches for 212 yards on 17 targets in the last two weeks. The veteran put his uncanny hands on display in the first half with a one-handed grab that will go down as one of the best catches we've seen all season. Still, Avant's won't be facing the league's worst secondary every week and his upside is capped by his brutal after-the-catch ability. We wouldn't chase Avant's big day against the Bengals on Thursday night.

He was targeted five times. The yards were a season high for Avant, while the four-catch night was just his third since Week 1. Even with DeSean Jackson done for the season, Avant isn't about to come on the redraft radar during his age-29 campaign. He's on pace for 43 catches and 507 yards after posting a 52/679/1 line in 2011.
