Jason Avant (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 11.
Rookie Nick Foles will be limited to TE Brent Celek as an underneath security blanket as he makes his first career start. Avant is week-to-week. Riley Cooper will fill-in as the No. 3 receiver against Washington.

Mon Nov 12 201212:09Jason Avant likely out Sunday
Jason Avant (hamstring) is not expected to play in Week 11.
Avant pulled up lame in the second quarter Sunday and never got back in the game. It has the look of a serious hamstring pull. Riley Cooper will pick up snaps as the No. 3 wideout.

Sun Nov 11 201217:30Jason Avant exits with hamstring injury
Jason Avant left Sunday's game in the second quarter with a hamstring injury.
Avant stumbled coming out of his break and grabbed the back of his thigh after a perfectly thrown pass sailed off his helmet. His return is doubtful.

Tue Nov 6 201201:35Avant catches six passes in MNF loss
Jason Avant caught six passes for 56 yards in Week 9 against the Saints.
Avant tied for the team-high with nine targets on Monday night. He's not a fantasy option, and is only a value to Michael Vick as a third-down safety blanket. Avant is on pace for a 52/568/0 line through eight games in 2012.

Sun Sep 23 201219:51Avant held to 38 yards in Week 3
Jason Avant managed just 38 yards on three receptions versus the Cardinals in Week 3.
It's a typical stat line for Avant, whose role was not expanded with Jeremy Maclin out of the lineup. Avant did have a nice leaping grab late in the game, but was targeted on just four of Michael Vick's 37 attempts. He's unworthy of a roster in 12- and 14-team leagues.

Sun Sep 16 201217:51Jason Avant catches just two balls
Jason Avant caught two passes for 33 yards in the Eagles' Week 2 win over the Ravens.
Avant saw just two targets on Michael Vick's 32 pass attempts. Even when Jeremy Maclin (hip) goes out, Avant stays in his bit slot role. Damaris Johnson is Maclin's backup.

Sun Sep 9 201219:50Jason Avant catches four balls in win
Jason Avant caught four passes for 27 yards in the Eagles' Week 1 win over the Browns.
Mr. Reliable continues to act as the Eagles' No. 3/slot wideout. Avant has the best hands on the team and is willing to make tough catches over the middle. It doesn't translate to fantasy success, however, because he runs quick hitches and can't do anything after the catch. Avant topped out at 52 catches for 679 yards and one touchdown in this role last season.

Fri Dec 2 201107:55Avant held to 10 yards in Week 13
Jason Avant caught just one pass for 10 yards against the Seahawks in Week 13.
This is certainly no shocker. Avant was targeted just twice. His 110 yards on eight receptions and 14 targets in Week 12 were the result of Vince Young dumping off after falling behind big to the Patriots. This is a pattern that has followed Avant his entire career. He follows up fluky breakout games with disappointing production the next week.

Sun Nov 27 201120:53Avant goes off for 110 yards, touchdown
Jason Avant caught eight passes for 110 yards and a touchdown on a team-high 14 targets in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. four, 37
Avant's big day came out of nowhere, as he had totaled just four catches for 35 yards in his past three games. However, four of his catches, 37 of his yards and his touchdown came with the Eagles marching in garbage time. He's a pure desperation play in 12-team leagues.

Mon Nov 21 201101:05Avant makes just one catch in win
Jason Avant was held to one catch for 13 yards in Sunday's win over the Giants.
One of Michael Vick's favorite safety valves, Avant was targeted just two times by backup Vince Young. After averaging 5.4 catches for 68.6 yards in Weeks 3-8, Avant has hauled in just four catches for 35 yards in his past three games. He's back off the fantasy radar.

Sun Nov 13 201119:14Avant catches just one ball for two yards
Jason Avant started for DeSean Jackson (disciplinary) in the Eagles' Week 10 loss to the Cardinals, and caught just one pass for two yards.
The catch nearly went for a TD, but with just three catches in the last two weeks his role is in question. It's likely that Brent Celek's emergence over that span has made his skills redundant, and he's miscast on the outside due to his lack of separation skills. With Jeremy Maclin's (shoulder, hamstring) status in doubt, it's possible he'll get more snaps but whether or not that equates production is up for debate.

Tue Nov 8 201100:57Avant posts just 20 yards in loss to Bears
Jason Avant caught just two balls for 20 yards in Week 10 against the Bears.
Now that the Philly offensive line has improved, Brent Celek is able to run more pass routes and that cut into Avant's production tonight. Whether this is a trend or not remains to be seen, as last week he caught five passes for 74 yards with Celek out in the pattern similarly to tonight. If you're desperate in a PPR league you may want to hang tight, as the Bears' Cover-2 defense is built to shift targets to the TE.

Mon Oct 31 201101:14Avant has another nice night
Jason Avant caught five passes for 74 yards in Sunday's win over the Cowboys.
A nice bounce-back effort after Avant was held to three catches and 28 yards in Week 6. Now averaging 4.4 catches and 58.9 yards on 6.1 targets, Avant is beginning to look like a legitimate bench option in standard leagues.

Sun Oct 16 201118:46Jason Avant catches three balls
Jason Avant caught three passes for 28 yards in Sunday's win over the Redskins.
Avant predictably crashes back to earth after last week's career-best outburst. Brent Celek was featured as the possession receiver today, leaving Avant with just four targets. Feel free to drop Avant as the Eagles head into their bye.

Sun Oct 9 201117:06Avant's career day marred by turnovers
Jason Avant hauled in a career-high nine passes for 139 yards Sunday, but also lost a fumble and hard an interception ripped out of his hands in Philadelphia's crushing 31-24 loss to the Bills.
Avant let Jairus Byrd rip the ball away from him at the end of a 35-yard catch in the third quarter before allowing Nick Barnett do the same with just 1:49 remaining in the fourth. Both turnovers were devastating for an Eagles team attempting to erase a 28-7 third-quarter deficit. Avant has now hauled in 15 passes for 208 yards on 18 targets the past two weeks, but it's a safe bet he'll be deemphasized in Week 6 after the display he put on today.

Sun Oct 2 201118:37Avant posts serviceable line for PPR leagues
Jason Avant had six catches for 69 yards in the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Niners.
This is pretty much his ceiling as a safety valve for Michael Vick. He has little to no ability to make plays after the catch, and he's only worth a look as a desperation option in the deepest of PPR leagues.

Mon Sep 19 201101:16Avant makes one catch in loss
Jason Avant made one catch for 29 yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons.
Avant's four targets were three fewer than he received in Week 1. Although he remains ahead of Steve Smith on the depth chart for the time being, it's likely only a matter of time before the former Giants, who has looked healthy the past two weeks, surpasses him.

Mon Aug 8 201108:08Coach Reid is in love with Avant
Coach Andy Reid said he would consider Jason Avant "the best guy in this league as an inside player."
Avant has the best hands on the Eagles and is also one of the most respected players in the locker room. So it's not a surprise that Reid gushes with praise for the slot receiver. However, Avant has very little ability after the catch and is not a target in the red zone. He means more to the Eagles than he does to fantasy owners.

Mon Jul 18 201112:04Eagles run three-wide 51 percent of the time
The Eagles used three wide receiver formations on 51 percent of their offensive snaps last season.
Only the Bengals, Broncos, Lions and Colts used three wide sets more often last season. That allowed Jason Avant to set a career high in catches (51) on his way to 573 yards and one touchdown. Still, those numbers are Avant's ceiling as a glue guy without much playmaking ability.

Sun Jan 9 201120:22Avant leads Eagles with 93 yards, TD
Jason Avant led the Eagles with seven receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown against the Packers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
Avant also led the team with nine targets, with Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson drawing extra defensive attention. Avant split four defenders, putting a nice move on Jarrett Bush for a 24-yard TD. He made up for a bad third-down drop by coming down with a 21-yard grab in heavy traffic on the next series. One of the most reliable No. 3 receivers in the league, Asante will be back on a $1.25 million contract next season.
