Wed Mar 6 201315:46Vince Young: I'm still better than most QBs
Free agent Vince Young believes he can "do a much better job than a lot of, most quarterbacks in the league."
Young didn't specify what specifically he believes he's better at, but it indeed appears he means playing football. Young also said he's reached out to former coach Jeff Fisher to apologize for his behavior in Tennessee. "Letting him know about the frustrations, all the different things that were going on in my life at the time and wanted him to know I really did appreciate (all he did)." It's unfortunate a player of Young's ability has become a punchline, but it's hard to see his once-promising career having a happy ending. Young is working out at the University of Texas' Pro Day on March 26.

Tue Mar 5 201313:40Vince Young working out at UT's Pro Day
Free agent Vince Young will work out at the University of Texas' March 26 Pro Day.
Like JaMarcus Russell, Young is determined to make a comeback. Unlike Russell, Young's career has never officially gone on hiatus. Young, who will turn 30 in May, was released by the Bills before final cuts last August. If he gets a deal, it will be as a camp body.

Sat Jan 26 201311:45Vince Young "probably" signed for loan
Former NFL quarterback Vince Young admitted under oath that he probably signed at least some of the documents for a $1.9 million loan he now says he shouldn't have to repay.
Young, who has been out of football since he was cut by the Buffalo Bills before the start of the 2012 season, is fighting a $1.7 million judgment against him obtained by New York-based Pro Player Funding LLC last July after a payment was missed in May. The $1.877 million loan was taken out during the NFL lockout in May 2011 while Young was still under contract to the Tennessee Titans. The loan was due to be paid back in January at an annual interest rate of 20 percent, which could jump to 34 percent if Young missed a payment.

Thu Dec 6 201216:08Vince Young still hoping to come back
Free agent Vince Young remains determined to make a comeback.
ƒ?oI made some mistakes. And when you have the type of mistakes that I have, being quarterback in the NFL, it can ruin your career," Young said in an interview with ESPN's Outside the Lines. "So right now, Iƒ?Tm trying to fight hard to give it another go, another shot." Young finally appears to have seen the light, but it's likely too late for a player who will turn 30 in May. Young's financial issues mean this probably won't be the last time he vows to "fight hard" to return, but the fact that he hasn't found a job in a year where so many teams have issues at quarterback bodes extremely poorly for his NFL future.

Mon Oct 22 201210:55Cards aren't high on FA Vince Young?
Beat writer Kent Somers says the Cardinals' front office has not even discussed adding free agent QB Vince Young.
A Sunday morning report about the Cards working out Young proved erroneous. Somers says he's mentioned Young's name to people inside the organization before, "and the reaction has not been positive." Young hasn't found a sniff of interest since the Bills released him before Week 1.

Sun Oct 21 201212:05Cardinals to work out Vince Young on Tuesday
The Cardinals will work out free agent Vince Young on Tuesday.
With Kevin Kolb (ribs, shoulder) out at least 6-8 weeks, the Cardinals are in the market for quarterback depth. Right now, only sixth-round rookie Ryan Lindley sits behind starter John Skelton. Young has been on the street since a disastrous preseason in Buffalo saw him lose out to Tyler Thigpen for a roster spot.

Sat Aug 18 201209:15Bills' backup QB already decided?
Beat writer Joe Buscaglia believes the Bills' backup QB job "has been decided" in Vince Young's favor.
Young has shown gradual improvement over the past three weeks, including a touchdown drive highlighted by a beautiful 64-yard pass play to rookie speedster T.J. Graham. Tyler Thigpen, took home Buscaglia's "least valuable player" award for a disappointing training camp, has gone just 11-of-23 (47.8%) for 94 yards (4.1 YPA) and two picks in two preseason games.

Wed Aug 1 201209:37Vince Young still struggling in Buffalo
Vince Young is still struggling to adjust to the Bills' shotgun-spread offense.
Young is favored to beat out Tyler Thigpen for the No. 2 job, but it's not pretty out there. After last season's faceplant with the Eagles, Young won't have anything handed to him. "They both have not done anything to distance themselves from the other," coach Chan Gailey said Tuesday.

Thu Jun 21 201219:52Vince Young slow to pick up offense
Coach Chan Gailey acknowledges that Vince Young has had difficulty picking up the nuances of the Bills offense.
"He has done a very good job, considering the circumstances," Gailey said. "He is trying to learn what the base concepts are and how we have advanced to where we are today without the benefit of going through the baby steps ... It is very difficult." Gailey expects Young and Tyler Thigpen to stage a "good battle" in training camp.

Wed Jun 20 201218:01Vince Young holding off Tyler Thigpen
According to the Buffalo News' Tim Graham, Vince Young "looks like the clear-cut favorite" for the Bills' No. 2 quarterback job.
He'd be beating out Tyler Thigpen for the backup job behind Ryan Fitzpatrick. Young isn't going to start games unless Fitzpatrick gets injured or bombs, but he'll be on the radar in two-quarterback leagues. The Bills' five-wide Pistol Spread could create rushing-yardage opportunities for the mobile Young.

Sat Jun 16 201218:30Bills can get out of Vince Young contract
Vince Young is guaranteed just $350,000 on his one-year deal with the Bills.
If Young doesn't beat out Tyler Thigpen for the backup job, his salary isn't guaranteed, but he can earn an additional $1 million through incentives based on playing time. With Thigpen missing OTAs, Young has worked exclusively with the second-team offense. If he makes the Bills' 53-man roster, he'll earn a prorated $384,000.

Fri May 11 201213:00Bills sign Vince Young to 1-year, $2M deal
Bills signed QB Vince Young to a one-year, $2 million contract.
Young was terrible in seven spot appearances (three starts) with the Eagles last season, posting a 4:9 touchdown-to-interception ratio in a West Coast offense for which he's a poor fit. The Bills will hope a humbled Young can upgrade on pricey incumbent backup Tyler Thigpen. Since Young has superior talent to Thigpen, we'd expect the former No. 3 overall pick in the draft to win the job in training camp. Young has enough playmaking ability to enter the fantasy radar if starter Ryan Fitzpatrick goes down.

Thu May 3 201211:57Vince Young leaves Bills without a deal
Free agent Vince Young left Buffalo without a contract in place following his tryout on Wednesday.
Per the Buffalo News, "indications are no announcement is imminent." Young threw passes in the workout to David Nelson, Donald Jones, Naaman Roosevelt, and Marcus Easley. V.Y. looked to be in impressive physical conditioning by all accounts, but the Bills may not formally sign him until just before training camp.

Wed May 2 201219:36Nelson: Vince Young is in good condition
Bills WR David Nelson caught passes from Vince Young in Wednesday's tryout, and said the free agent quarterback "looks good."
Nelson also commented that Young appears to have been keeping himself in good shape during the offseason. The Bills are expected to "seriously" consider signing Young before training camp to compete with backup Tyler Thipgen.

Tue May 1 201217:06Report: Bills 'serious' about Vince Young
According to ESPN's John Clayton, the Bills are "serious" about signing free agent Vince Young to compete with Tyler Thigpen behind Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Young will work out for the Bills on Wednesday. "If he does have a good workout, I think the GM Buddy Nix would be very serious about making that type of a move," Clayton said on NFL Live Tuesday. "... If Vince Young works out well, they're serious. They may sign him." Thigpen is owed a $2.5 million base salary, which is fairly hefty for a backup. Young could come more cheaply.

Tue May 1 201216:06Bills view Vince Young purely as backup
Bills GM Buddy Nix confirmed that free agent Vince Young is only viewed as a backup option in Buffalo.
"We're set with our quarterback, committed to (Ryan Fitzpatrick) and are completely with him," said Nix. "We think the more good people we put around him, the better we'll be. If we can bring in some competition for a backup role, one of them will make our team better."

Tue May 1 201213:03Vince Young to work out for Bills Wednesday
Free agent Vince Young will work out for the Bills on Wednesday.
We've been projecting Buffalo as a likely landing spot for V.Y. since the start of free agency. Coach Chan Gailey has an extensive history of maximizing the production of scrambling QBs with questionable passing skills. While Ryan Fitzpatrick is entrenched as the starter, Young would be the favorite to beat out Tyler Thigpen for the top backup job.

Thu Apr 12 201210:09Vince Young would 'love' to play for Texans
Free agent Vince Young says he still envisions himself a starter, and he'd "love" to play for his hometown Texans.
"I would love to play at home," said V.Y., who turns 29 next month. "That would be a dream come true and anything I can do to help out with the team." Young also "definitely" still envisions himself as a starter, and he's "just waiting on that opportunity to get the chance to do that." Young says "a couple of teams" have shown interest in him, and he plans to sign after the draft.

Fri Dec 30 201111:32Young, Brown, Smith not expected back in '12
Impending free agents QB Vince Young, RB Ronnie Brown, and WR Steve Smith are not expected back with the Eagles in 2012.
V.Y. completed 57.9 percent of his passes for 866 yards and an ugly 4:9 TD-to-INT ratio in three fill-in starts. The Eagles will either go forward with Mike Kafka as the No. 2 QB or add a veteran to fill the role. With the emergence of Victor Cruz in New York, Smith's 2009 career year now seems like a product of Eli Manning's reliance on slot receivers.
