Thu Sep 1 201123:22Vince Young should be OK for opener
Coach Andy Reid believes Vince Young (hamstring) "should be OK" for the season opener against the Rams.
The original diagnosis is a hamstring strain. Young will go for an MRI Friday, but early indications are that he avoided a tear. He's clearly ahead of Mike Kafka for the No. 2 job.

Thu Sep 1 201121:02Vince Young leaves with lower leg injury
Vince Young left Thursday's preseason finale with a lower right leg injury.
Trainers were looking at the back of Young's knee, near the calf area. V.Y. was walking with a limp, but laughing and exchanging fist bumps with Michael Vick. It doesn't appear to be a major injury. Young looked excellent before the injury, completing 15-of-23 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown in nearly two quarters.

Thu Sep 1 201110:07Young to start for Eagles tonight
Vince Young will start and is expected to play the first half of Thursday's preseason finale.
Mike Kafka will play the second half. It's confirmation that the speculation regarding Kafka becoming Michael Vick's backup was overblown. Even if Young has been slow to pick up Marty Mornhinweg's offense, the talent gap it too severe. Vick owners can safely draft Young with their final pick as a "handcuff."

Thu Aug 25 201123:33Vince Young showing improvement
Vince Young completed 9-of-12 passes for 58 yards and added four rushes for 24 yards and a touchdown against the Browns in the third preseason game.
Young played the entire second half, showing improved accuracy and timing to go with his obvious athletic ability in an efficient performance. Mike Kafka, who was reportedly pushing for the No. 2 job, didn't play against the Browns.

Thu Aug 25 201109:43Young not Vicks' certain backup?
Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Daily News confirms that Vince Young remains in a battle with Mike Kafka for the backup job.
Young has struggled to grasp Marty Mornhinweg's West Coast offense while Kafka has compiled a 99.9 passer rating through two preseason games. Domowitch believes that both quarterbacks will be active in Week 1 and Andy Reid would turn to Kafka if Michael Vick went down. While the talent gap between the two is massive, Young needs to prove himself over the next two weeks. It's a storyline to watch in tonight's third preseason game.

Thu Aug 18 201117:15Vince Young ends camp on positive note
Vince Young ended training camp "on a positive note" after struggling with the offense early on.
Young looked so erratic early in camp that beat writers suggested Mike Kafka might be forced to enter the season as the No. 2 QB. Young played well in the preseason opener and "looked much better" by the end of camp. Michael Vick owners may want to think about "handcuffing" V.Y. in the draft's final round.

Thu Jul 28 201113:37Report: Vince Young is Miami's No. 2 target
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Dave Hyde, Vince Young has been the Dolphins' No. 2 target at quarterback behind Kyle Orton.
Young will be released by the Titans later this afternoon, which could play havoc with any leverage the Broncos may have enjoyed in trade talks. With Kevin Kolb almost certain to land in Arizona by the end of the day, Denver may be forced to accept a fourth-rounder for Orton.

Wed Jul 27 201111:10Cardinals don't have interest in Vince Young
Beat writer Kent Somers confirms the Cardinals have no interest in Vince Young.
The Cards are apparently focused on Kevin Kolb and Kyle Orton. Meanwhile, Young's best fit and path to possible playing time appears to be in Miami. If his head is on straight, he figures to eventually push starter Chad Henne.

Wed Jul 27 201110:01Young will be officially dumped Thursday
Vince Young will be officially released on Thursday.
We've known this was coming for months now. He's recently been linked to the Dolphins as an upgrade on Chad Henne and to the Eagles as a backup to Michael Vick. Teams will want to kick the tires on his mental state, as on-field play has never been Young's problem.

Sat Jul 23 201120:22Texans highly unlikely to pursue Young
The Houston Chronicle's John McClain believes there's "no way" the Texans will sign Vince Young once he's released by the Titans.
With free agent Matt Leinart looking ready to move on, the Texans will probably be in the market for a third quarterback, but it's highly unlikely to be Young. Even if the Texans were to show interest, Young will almost certainly sign somewhere with a less entrenched starter than Matt Schaub.

Sat Jul 23 201111:22Titans facing compressed V.Y. timeline
The Titans are expected to have just one day to trade or release Vince Young following the start of the new league year before being forced to pay his $4.25 million roster bonus.
Young's contract calls for his bonus to be paid on the 10th day of the 2011 league year, but the Sports Xchange's Howard Balzer reports all offseason option and roster bonuses will be due on the second day of the new league in this season's compressed free agency period. Finding a trade partner for Young was already going to be difficult, but it will now be all but impossible.

Fri Jul 22 201115:32Report: Vince Young interested in Dolphins
Several sources tell the Miami Herald that Vince Young is interested in playing the Dolphins.
According to Herald columnist Armando Salguero, the "word around town" in Miami is that Young spent his offseason on South Beach to make himself "very visible to the Dolphins' organization" as a player with a good head on his shoulders. Salguero doesn't envision the Dolphins signing Young, but there is clearly interest on one side. Kyle Orton would be a more costly alternative.

Tue Jul 19 201114:12V. Young has Fisher's stamp of approval
Vince Young carries former coach Jeff Fisher's stamp of approval with his career at a crossroads this summer.
"Keep in mind, he won a lot of games for our organization and led us to the playoffs," Fisher said "He's a tremendous player. He's certainly got a great deal of ability, and he's a rare athlete, and he's a good teammate. And hopefully he can learn from this experience and get that (next) opportunity." The two had an often contentious relationship in Nashville, but Fisher has made it clear twice this offseason that he remains a believer in Young's ability to succeed as an NFL starter.

Sun Jul 10 201110:17David Climer: V.Y. still done in Tenn.
Nashville Tennessean columnist David Climer is adamant that Kerry Collins' surprise retirement will not cause the Titans to reconsider releasing Vince Young.
He's right. The Titans have been determined all offseason to make a clean break with Young, and will have plenty of other veteran options to choose from on the open market to tutor rookie Jake Locker. ESPN's Chris Mortensen recently speculated that Young could end up in Miami, which would seem to be an ideal landing spot.

Mon Jun 27 201123:31Dolphins could be suitors for Vince Young
ESPN's Chris Mortensen says he's heard the Dolphins "as a maybe" in talks of a destination for Vince Young.
It's worth noting that Mort said the complete opposite in late May. There is reportedly concern in Miami about how V.Y. would react if he lost a camp battle to Chad Henne. Young would definitely win that competition, of course.

Sun Jun 26 201109:08Eagles could pounce on Vince Young?
ESPN's Dan Graziano speculates that the Eagles will "pounce" on Vince Young when he becomes available.
Graziano is not reporting here, he's simply throwing his opinion out there. If Kevin Kolb is traded, the Eagles will only have Mike Kafka behind running quarterback Michael Vick. For a team trying to win now, it's a scary proposition. However, Young may throw a fit about not being given a chance to win a starting job. He'd be a luxury for the Eagles.
