Fells had two catches on two targets for 22 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Texans.
While Larry Donnell (six catches on six targets for 45 yards) continues to dominate the targets from the tight end position, Fells has actually been the one to score a touchdown in back-to-back weeks. Despite the success, Fells remains a very limited fantasy option unless he can get some more looks in the passing game.
Wed Sep 10 201404:49Fells saw eight offensive snaps Monday night
Fells saw eight offensive snaps Monday night.
It looks like Larry Donnell's job at this point, and Fells is more likely to see work as a blocker in any event.
Tue Aug 19 201415:19Fells (knee) returned to practice Tuesday
Fells (knee) returned to practice Tuesday, the New York Daily News reports.
Fell sprained his knee during the Giants' opening preseason game, causing him to miss time until now. However, given the team's largely underwhelming crop of tight ends, Fells hasn't lost much ground to Larry Donnell to become the Giants' No. 1 option at the position this season.
Sun Aug 3 201423:56Daniel Fells: Suffers Knee Injury
Fells suffered a sprained knee during Sunday's Hall of Fame Game versus the Bills, The Record's Art Stapleton reports.
Fells saw a few snaps with the first-team offense, but Larry Donnell got the start and worked as the No. 1 tight end. The Giants' tight ends don't figure to be a lucrative bunch from a pass-catching perspective this season, and none of them made much of an impact Sunday night. Fells caught a pass for 10 yards on his lone target, while Donnell had one reception for 12 yards on two targets. Adrien Robinson, who was at one point considered the favorite to start, did not get any targets while working with the third-team offense.
Wed Jul 23 201414:14Daniel Fells working as Giants' starting TE
Daniel Fells has been operating as the Giants' starting tight end through the first two days of training camp.
Fells is the most experience tight end in camp, as he's made 30 starts in 71 career appearances. However, he was out of the league last season and will turn 31 in September. The Giants may just be giving him the nod early on due to his experience, but it's something worth monitoring. Adrien Robinson has been tabbed the favorite to start at tight end all offseason. He ballooned up close to 290 pounds and reported to camp at 276. Whoever ends up manning tight end -- our money is still on Robinson -- won't be a recommended fantasy option.

Tue Jan 7 201415:38Giants sign five to reserve/future deals
Giants signed TE Daniel Fells, WR Preston Parker, LB Spencer Adkins, OL Troy Kropog, and K/P Brandon McManus to reserve/future contracts.
Fells spent the 2013 season on the street after he was part of the Patriots' final cuts. He's appeared in 71 career games, making 92 catches for 1,086 yards and eight scores. Parker caught 40 passes and three touchdowns for the 2011 Bucs.

Mon Sep 9 201317:49Daniel Fells visiting the Seahawks
Free agent TE Daniel Fells is visiting the Seahawks.
It's Fells' first known visit since he was cut loose by the Patriots. The Boston Globe reported earlier Monday that Fells suffered a concussion in the preseason. He'd just be a depth signing for the Seahawks.

Fri Aug 30 201312:49Patriots part ways with vet TE Daniel Fells
Patriots released TE Daniel Fells.
Fells was going into the second season of a three-year, $5.25 million deal. The move clears $1.25 million in cap space. Reading the tea leaves rarely gets you far with the Patriots, but the move suggests they're optimistic about Rob Gronkowski's health, and that Jake Ballard has earned a roster spot. Four weeks shy of his 30th birthday, Fells has just 23 catches since the end of the 2010 season.

Thu Aug 15 201316:21Fells, Ballard vying for one roster spot?
The Boston Globe suggests Patriots TEs Daniel Fells and Jake Ballard are vying for one roster spot.
Zach Sudfeld is locked in, and Rob Gronkowski obviously is too if he avoids PUP to open the season. Michael Hoomanawanui is playing H-back. Fells opened camp receiving lots of first-team reps, but Ballard has one-upped him as an in-line blocker. Fells is owed $1.25 million, while Ballard only costs $480,000.

Mon Aug 5 201316:44Daniel Fells currently Pats No. 1 tight end
With Rob Gronkowski (back) on active/PUP, the Boston Globe considers Daniel Fells the Patriots' No. 1 tight end "at this point" in camp.
Jake Ballard and rookie Zach Sudfeld are competing to for the second spot, while Michael Hoomanawanui is "working mostly at H-back." If Gronkowski misses regular season time -- an increasingly likely scenario -- the Pats may open the season without a single fantasy-viable tight end. Ballard's knees are balky. Fells is a journeyman. And Sudfeld is an undrafted rookie.

Fri Jul 12 201309:17Fells a 70 percent chance at roster spot?
ESPN Boston gives Patriots TE Daniel Fells a 70 percent chance of keeping his roster spot.
Fells was considered a candidate for release earlier this offseason, but as you may have heard, things have changed for the Patriots at tight end. Fells' $1.25 million salary is working against him, however, while his fate could depend on how Jake Ballard and UDFA Zach Sudfeld look in camp. Either way, Fells won't make a fantasy impact this season.

Tue Jan 22 201308:29Daniel Fells a candidate for release
ESPN Boston suggests TE Daniel Fells is a candidate for release.
Fells is owed $1.25 million in base salary in 2013. We know the strict blocker will be behind Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, and Michael Hoomanawanui is expected back as a restricted free agent as well. The Patriots also have Jake Ballard, who missed the entire season while recovering from knee surgeries.

Sun Jan 13 201315:09Fells inactive with Gronk back to full health
Patriots declared TE Daniel Fells, DE Jake Bequette, OL Markus Zusevics, DB Malcolm Williams, WR Kamar Aiken, DB Derrick Martin, and OL Nick McDonald inactive for the Divisional round game versus the Texans.
Fells is no longer needed as a blocking specialist with Rob Gronkowski back to full health. The Patriots removed 15 players from their injury report on Friday, suggesting they are as healthy as they've been all season following the first-round bye.

Fri Nov 23 201214:05Daniel Fells fills the Gronkowski role
Daniel Fells played a season-high 55-of-68 snaps versus the Jets in Week 12.
It's a reminder that Vinsanthe Shiancoe (9 snaps) and Michael Hoomanawanui (3 snaps) are never going to be fantasy options in New England. Fells, who finished with one catch for 24 yards, filled the Rob Gronkowski role in the Patriots offense.

Sat Jun 30 201216:15Daniel Fells not spotted in offseason program
According to ESPN Boston, TE Daniel Fells "was not spotted at all" in the Patriots' offseason program.
Fells isn't known to be hurt, so perhaps his absence was just a veteran courtesy. A blocker with decent hands, Fells' roster spot behind Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez should be secure provided he's healthy.

Mon Mar 19 201208:19Pats sign TE Daniel Fells to three-year deal
Patriots signed TE Daniel Fells to a three-year contract.
New England was Fells' only known visit. A former undrafted free agent, Fells spent the first three years of his career in St. Louis before signing with the Broncos last season. Primarily a blocker, he's made 88 catches in 58 career games. He'll be called on to block behind Rob Gronkowkski and Aaron Hernandez. Aside from potentially freeing up Hernandez from some of his blocking duties, Fells won't make a fantasy impact for the Patriots.
