Tue Jun 24 201416:29Giants GM: Rashad Jennings a 'bellcow type'
Following minicamp, Giants GM Jerry Reese referred to Rashad Jennings as a "bellcow type of back."
"We brought in Rashad Jennings and he's definitely a bellcow type of a running back," said Reese. "He can run it, he can catch it, he can block, he can do everything with it." It's worth noting Reese didn't commit to Jennings handling "bellcow" work; he simply referred to Jennings as a capable "bellcow type." Still, it's pretty clear the Giants envision Jennings as a three-down player, even if he ends up rotating often with Andre Williams and/or Peyton Hillis, and/or David Wilson. Jennings will be an interesting RB2 pick for fantasy owners willing to wait a bit at running back in drafts.

Fri Jun 6 201400:45Rashad Jennings working as Giants starter
Rashad Jennings is working as the first-team tailback at Giants OTAs.
Peyton Hillis is with the twos, and rookie Andre Williams is running with the third-team offense. Although 29-year-old Jennings isn't a long-term tailback solution, reliable ball security and pass protection give him the edge to open the season as New York's lead runner. He's averaging a solid 4.33 yards per carry for his career. Jennings is worth targeting in fantasy drafts as an RB2/flex.

Wed Mar 26 201408:34Coughlin likes Jennings on third downs
Coach Tom Coughlin referred to Rashad Jennings as an "all-purpose player" Wednesday.
The Giants believe Jennings is capable of being a three-down back, something that is reflected by the lack of depth behind him. David Wilson is coming off neck surgery and won't be trusted on third downs, and Peyton Hillis is no lock to even make the final roster. Jennings isn't flashy, but he's a Coughlin back because he protects the football and the quarterback. He'll also be a part of the screen game.

Mon Mar 17 201415:21Rashad Jennings gets 4-year, $10M contract
Rashad Jennings' four-year deal with the Giants has a base value of $10 million.
It's below "feature back money" in this year's free agent class, as the Jaguars gave Toby Gerhart a three-year, $10.5 million deal. Jennings gets $2.98 million guaranteed with a $2.25 million signing bonus. He doesn't appear to have any guaranteed money beyond 2014. We expect Jennings to be the Giants' lead runner in 2014, but wouldn't rule out GM Jerry Reese drafting a back in May.

Wed Mar 12 201408:33Rashad Jennings expected to be No. 1 back
The New York Daily News expects Rashad Jennings to be the Giants "No. 1 back."
David Wilson (neck surgery) is a major question mark, Peyton Hillis is depth and Andre Brown is a goner. Jennings has never entered a season as a feature back, but has shown reasonably well when given opportunities. He has 387 carries for 1,677 yards (4.33 YPC) with 13 touchdowns and 97 catches for 746 yards in a four-year career. A reliable non-fumbler and pass protector for Tom Coughlin, Jennings can be penciled in as a feature back.

Tue Mar 11 201417:23G-Men lure RB Jennings away from Raiders
Giants agreed to terms with RB Rashad Jennings, formerly of the Raiders.
Jennings was supposed to be a free-agent priority for the Raiders, but they let him walk without much of a fight. According to CSN Bay Area, the Giants offered "a lot more." Jennings is two weeks shy of his 29th birthday, but has just 484 career touches. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry last season, and is an excellent pass catcher. He's a nice insurance policy for David Wilson.

Tue Mar 11 201413:00Report: G-Men make offer to Rashad Jennings
CSN Bay Area reports the Giants have made an offer to free agent Rashad Jennings.
Per reporter Fallon Smith, Jennings is "waiting on Oakland to make their move now." The Giants re-signed Peyton Hillis to a two-year, $1.8 million contract Tuesday, but definitely need another body or two in their backfield. Depending on David Wilson's health, Jennings would have lots of touches at his disposal in New York.

Mon Mar 10 201419:30Raiders still in Rashad Jennings sweepstakes
CSN Bay Are reports the Raiders "remain a major player" for free agent Rashad Jennings.
The free-agent running back market has been ice-cold to this point, which could make Jennings extremely affordable even after an impressive season in Oakland. The Raiders have a ton of money to spend and have previously stated their desire to re-sign Jennings. Even at 29, he still has plenty of tread on his tires.

Thu Dec 12 201318:13Rashad Jennings 'full' again on Thursday
Rashad Jennings (concussion) remained "full" in Thursday's practice.
Barring a setback, Jennings is ready to roll for Week 15. The Chiefs boast a middle-of-the-road run defense, but the Raiders will have to keep things close for Jennings to have a big day on the ground. His passing-game involvement helps his floor, however. Jennings is a mid- to low-end RB2.

Wed Dec 11 201314:46Rashad Jennings cleared to practice
Rashad Jennings (concussion) is practicing Wednesday.
Jennings has passed his concussion test and should practice in full this week. He'll be a mid-to-low RB2 for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. With Darren McFadden (ankle) sidelined, Marcel Reece will likely handle backup duties.

Tue Dec 10 201308:27Jennings' carries expected to hold steady
Rashad Jennings' carry count is expected to "hold steady" over the final three games of the season.
Jennings was medically cleared on Monday and barring an unexpected setback, he'll start against the Chiefs in Week 15. Versatile Marcel Reece was spectacular again against the Jets, but the Raiders have never featured him in the offense unless they've been truly desperate. Expect at least a 70-30 in favor of Jennings, giving him low-end RB2 appeal in this difficult matchup. He was averaging 18.0 carries and 3.2 catches per day in the five games before his concussion.

Mon Dec 9 201318:24Rashad Jennings passes concussion test Mon.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports Rashad Jennings has passes his concussion test.
That's all beat writer Vic Tafur tweeted regarding Jennings. It's positive news, though, after Jennings was unable to suit up Sunday. He traveled with the Raiders to New York to face the Jets, but Jennings couldn't progress quickly enough through the NFL's concussion protocol in order to play. Jennings should practice in full this week and be ready to face the Chiefs next Sunday at home. He'll be a mid-to-low RB2. Marcel Reece performed well in his absence.

Mon Dec 9 201312:20Rashad Jennings never passed protocol
Rashad Jennings never fully passed the NFL's concussion protocol despite practicing each day last week.
Jennings was cleared to practice, but not play against the Jets. He did make the trip to New York in hopes of getting the green light over the weekend. However, "it was kind of apparent [Saturday] that he wasn't going to be cleared to play," coach Dennis Allen said. Jennings can only be considered questionable ahead of Week 15. Marcel Reece needs to be held across the board in the meantime.

Sun Dec 8 201310:57Rashad Jennings expected to be inactive Sun.
FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports Rashad Jennings (concussion) is expected to be inactive Sunday against Jets.
Jennings was cleared to practice on a limited basis this week, but apparently never received formal clearance to play in a game and absorb contact. The Raiders will turn to Marcel Reece at tailback, per Glazer, and Taiwan Jones could also see action in the backfield after converting from cornerback. Darren McFadden (ankle) and Jeremy Stewart (knee/ankle) are both on the shelf.
