Sun Aug 21 201120:45Kevin Boss 'week to week' with knee injury
Raiders TE Kevin Boss is "week to week" after suffering a sprained knee in Saturday's game.
The description indicates the likelihood of a sprained MCL, which requires a 2-6 week recovery timetable depending on the severity of the tear. Boss is just a low-end TE2 even when healthy. Coming off a knee sprain, he should be taken off fantasy cheat sheets.

Sun Aug 21 201113:23Boss' knee injury not considered serious
The knee injury that knocked Kevin Boss out of Saturday's game is not considered serious.
Boss took a helmet to the knee on a 14-yard reception. Asked if it was a minor injury, Boss replied, "It's hard to tell. It's nothing serious, that's for sure. Take a little time to heal up."

Sat Aug 20 201122:18Kevin Boss makes one catch, injures knee
Kevin Boss hauled in one catch for 14 yards in Oakland's preseason game against the 49ers on Saturday before leaving with a left knee injury.
Boss' knee was "heavily wrapped in ice" on the sideline, though there hasn't been any indication he is dealing with a serious injury. His status will be updated if that changes.

Mon Aug 8 201118:01Kevin Boss to catch 60 passes?
Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times expects Kevin Boss to "at least double" the 30 receptions he averaged annually as a Giant this season.
Corkran has seen Boss practice for only a few days, but says he's shown "sure hands" and plenty of speed. Boss was known was a blocker in New York's offense, but he has better measurables than predecessor Zach Miller. Jason Campbell likes to throw to tight ends more than Eli Manning and Oakland's wide receivers are a downgrade, so Boss will be a TE2 sleeper to watch as a Raider.

Fri Aug 5 201111:38Raiders replace Zach Miller with Kevin Boss
Raiders signed TE Kevin Boss to a four-year, $16 million contract.
It's a rare quality signing for the Raiders. Although Boss isn't quite the pass-catcher that Zach Miller is, he has turned himself into an elite blocker. In Oakland, Boss will be asked to run more routes to compensate for the Raiders' unreliable receiving corps. There's TE2 value here.

Wed Aug 3 201120:39Raiders to work out Kevin Boss
Raiders are working out free agent TE Kevin Boss on Wednesday.
Landing Boss would certainly help lessen the sting the Raiders are feeling from their stunning loss of Zach Miller. Boss is not nearly the pass catcher Miller is, but is an elite blocker. Boss has "a lot of characteristics we're looking for," coach Hue Jackson said. He'd be about as good a Miller consolation prize as Oakland could hope for.

Mon Aug 1 201121:07Giants still in the hunt for TE Kevin Boss
Coach Tom Coughlin assured Monday that the Giants' signing of TE Ben Patrick doesn't take them out of the mix for free agent Kevin Boss.
Patrick isn't nearly the player Boss is, so this makes sense. Though Boss isn't known to be generating a ton of interest on the open market, the Giants need him back as an ideal system fit. The 27-year-old is one heck of a blocker.

Sat Jul 30 201100:55Giants make Kevin Boss a contract offer
The Giants have extended a contract offer to free agent Kevin Boss.
Of Boss, Ahmad Bradshaw, and WR Steve Smith, Giants GM Jerry Smith said Friday, "the ball is in their court." Boss has yet to be connected to other teams in reports or speculation, so our assumption for now is that he'll be back with New York. The market for fellow top free agent TE Zach Miller has also been slow.

Tue Jul 26 201113:56Kevin Boss wants to re-sign with Giants
Free agent TE Kevin Boss confirmed that his first choice is to re-sign with the Giants.
"I hope to play for Tom Coughlin for all my years coming up," Boss said. "It would be very hard to leave the Giants." A native of the West Coast, Boss did allow that the Raiders would be interesting if they happened to lose out on Zach Miller.

Sun Jul 3 201109:33Kevin Boss wants to stay in New York
According to the New York Post's Paul Schwartz, free agent Kevin Boss would like to return to the Giants.
The Giants are expected to make a legitimate effort to re-sign him as long as his surgically repaired hip checks out (as expected). Despite dealing with a concussion and tailbone injury, Boss was able to take the field for 15 games in 2010, reeling in 35 catches for 531 yards and five touchdowns.

Thu May 26 201119:47Boss graduates to full speed running
Kevin Boss (hip surgery) has graduated to running full speed at informal workouts this week.
Boss would likely be limited if coaches were running OTAs, but he should still have no problem getting back to full capacity by training camp -- whenever that takes place.

Tue May 3 201121:39Boss' rehab 'coming along real well'
Kevin Boss said Tuesday that his recovery from January hip surgery is "coming along real well."
"I'm still not cleared to go 100 percent yet, but I'm out there doing what I can," Boss said of Tuesday's workout with Giants teammates. "I'm just a couple weeks away from being able to go full speed."

Tue Mar 1 201116:48Kevin Boss draws second-round tender
Giants extended a second-round restricted free agent tender to TE Kevin Boss.
Boss has accrued four seasons in the league, so he's likely headed toward unrestricted free agency. He's coming off minor hip surgery, though the Giants are expected to make a legit effort to re-sign him as the starting tight end.

Wed Jan 12 201110:18Kevin Boss gets hip scoped
Kevin Boss will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his hip Wednesday.
It comes a day after the tight end's 27th birthday. The scope is considered a minor one, though it's something that has bothered Boss for a while. Boss is an impending free agent, but the Giants are expected to do their best to bring him back.

Fri Jan 7 201116:22Kevin Boss to have hip surgery
Kevin Boss will soon undergo a "minor" arthroscopic surgery on his hip.
The injury has "bothered Boss for awhile." An impending free agent, Boss caught 35 passes for 531 yards and five touchdowns in 2010, averaging a career best 15.2 yards per catch. The Giants will work to re-sign him for 2011.

Sun Jan 2 201120:13Kevin Boss scheduled to become free agent
Kevin Boss had just two receptions for 29 yards in Week 17 against the Redskins.
Boss finishes his 2010 campaign with 35 receptions for 531 yards and five touchdowns. An extremely thin offensive line forced the Giants to use Boss as a blocker for a good chunk of the season, greatly damaging his fantasy value. Boss is scheduled to become a free agent and will command a multi-year contract, though we can't imagine the Giants let him walk. New York figures to upgrade their offensive line this offseason, a move that would improve Boss' fantasy outlook should he return.
Sun Dec 26 201020:18Kevin Boss held without a catch in Week 16
Kevin Boss was held without a reception against the Packers in Week 16.
Boss was targeted on just three of Eli Manning's 33 attempts in a game where the Packers dominated time of possession. He also muffed a fumble recovery by trying to pick it up to run instead of falling on it. There's always potential for a fantasy dud if Boss doesn't find the end zone. Keep him on the bench in Week 17.
Mon Dec 13 201023:38Kevin Boss has 23 yards, touchdown in win
Kevin Boss caught four passes for 23 yards and a touchdown in the Giants' Week 14 win over the Vikings.
Boss surprisingly tied Hakeem Nicks with a team-high nine targets. Steve Smith strained a hammy in the game and Mario Manningham never returned after a second-quarter hip flexor, so Boss' outlook is on the rise heading into a Week 15 matchup with an Eagles defense that struggles with tight ends.
Sun Dec 5 201017:38Boss only has 28 yards in win
Kevin Boss caught two passes for 28 yards in Sunday's win over the Redskins.
Boss was targeted just three times as the Giants jumped out to a 28-0 lead and never looked back. If the game had been closer, Boss surely would have been more productive as he would have shred the Redskins' inept tacklers. Boss' value going forward is completely dependent on the status of injured wideouts Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith.
Sun Nov 28 201017:03Boss leads the way with eight targets
Kevin Boss led the Giants with 74 yards and a touchdown on three catches in the Week 12 win over the Jaguars.
All of Boss' production came in the second half, as he came up big down the stretch and capped off his day with a 32-yard touchdown catch to put the Giants ahead. He did have a bad drop in the game, but Boss' eight targets were twice as many as any other Giants receiver. He should continue to receive more looks with the receiving corps banged up, making him a solid fill-in starter.
