Sun Sep 11 201117:09Dickson, Pitta heavily involved in Week 1
Ravens TE Ed Dickson caught five passes for 59 yards against the Steelers in Week 1.
Dickson and Dennis Pitta (two catches, 45 yards) were heavily involved as the Ravens used their tight ends in Patriots fashion as jacked-up wide receivers. Dickson hooked up with Joe Flacco for a beautiful 18-yard touchdown, beating Troy Polamalu in the process. He would have another 34 yards on a spectacular catch in traffic, but it was nullified by a Bryant McKinnie holding penalty. Dickson should hold TE2 value going forward.

Sat Sep 10 201113:40Dickson, Pitta will rotate at tight end
Ravens OC Cam Cameron has confirmed that Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta will rotate at tight end.
"You're going to see them both in the game in different packages," Cameron said. "In my mind, we've got two starting tight ends, and each brings something unique to our offense. So we're going to utilize them both, and I think we approach them both as starters." Dickson and Pitta were neck-and-neck all camp, and never separated. Neither is worth a look as a TE2 right now.

Tue Aug 30 201111:05Ed Dickson, Pitta to share reps
Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said that he hasn't seen much separation between Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta.
Dickson may have his nose in front for the starter's tag, but it doesn't sound like either is going to play a full complement of snaps. "They're going to work in unison. You're going to see them both in the game in different packages," Cameron said. "In my mind, we've got two starting tight ends." We'd rather have Jared Cook or Lance Kendricks as our TE2 than Dickson or Pitta.

Thu Aug 25 201122:48Dickson catches 3 passes for 57 yards
Ed Dickson caught three passes for 57 yards in the Ravens' third preseason game.
Dickson was targeted four times compared to two for Dennis Pitta, who caught both for 16 yards. Dickson is the clear leader and more of a downfield threat, but he's not going to be a consistent fantasy option.

Mon Aug 15 201115:19Ed Dickson returns to Ravens practice
Ravens TE Ed Dickson (hamstring) has returned to practice and is again running ahead of Dennis Pitta on the field.
He should be fine for Baltimore's second preseason game after missing the opener. Dickson and Pitta are expected to rotate at the tight end spot this season, at least to begin the year. They may cancel each other out in fantasy.

Wed Aug 10 201108:45Dickson to miss preseason opener
Ed Dickson (hamstring) is not expected to play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Eagles.
For a young player trying to win a starting job and develop chemistry with Joe Flacco, it's notable. Dickson was already looking at a timeshare as he tries to improve his run blocking. Fellow second-year tight end Dennis Pitta will likely draw the start Thursday.

Mon Aug 8 201114:45Ravens TE Ed Dickson has hamstring injury
Ravens TE Ed Dickson has missed the last three days of training camp with a "minor" hamstring injury.
The Ravens are being tight-lipped about injuries in August, but their signing of tight ends Kris Wilson and Jonathan Stupar on Monday may indicate internal concern about Dickson. Dennis Pitta is now running with the starting offense.

Sun Jul 31 201114:23Ed Dickson expected to be Ravens' starter
Following the departure of Todd Heap, Ed Dickson is considered the front-runner to be Baltimore's new starting tight end.
We liked Dickson coming out of Oregon, but he was a major liability as a run blocker in his first season. If that doesn't improve, he won't be an every-down player regardless of his status as a "starter." It's also possible that fellow second-year TE Dennis Pitta will share time with Dickson. Consider Dickson and Pitta to be more in-season waiver wire pickups than sleeper fantasy picks.

Tue Dec 14 201001:04Dickson barely shows up in win
Ed Dickson caught just one pass for seven yards in Monday's overtime win over the Texans.
Dickson started in place of Todd Heap (hamstring) and played almost every snap. But he was not part of the game plan, often staying in to block and ending up with just the one target. Joe Flacco didn't even look Dickson's way on his routes. Feel free to drop the talented rookie.
Tue Dec 7 201016:02Dickson expected to start Monday night
Ed Dickson is expected to start against the Texans Monday night with Todd Heap (hamstring) considered unlikely to play.
Here's your sleeper for the first round of the fantasy playoffs. Dickson's seven targets against the Steelers were second on the team, and the Texans surrender the most points to opposing fantasy tight ends. Dickson will be a top-12 option in Week 14.

Mon Dec 6 201009:26Dickson fills in for Heap
Ed Dickson came on for an injured Todd Heap (concussion) and caught three passes for 21 yards in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
Heap pulled up lame on the very first series, so Dickson played the entire game as the primary pass-catching tight end. Fellow rookie Dennis Pitta saw action at H-Back. If Heap misses time, Dickson will be a TE2.

Wed Sep 8 201011:20Dickson listed ahead of Pitta
Ed Dickson is listed ahead of Dennis Pitta on the Ravens' first regular season depth chart.
Dickson was drafted a round ahead of Pitta and he's the better all-around tight end. However, we still think Pitta would be a better desperation add if Todd Heap went down. Pitta is the better pass-catcher.

Mon Aug 16 201008:23Dickson ahead of Pitta
Ravens third-round TE Ed Dickson was the second tight end on the field for the Ravens Thursday night, ahead of fellow rookie Dennis Pitta.
This confirms that Dickson is ahead of Pitta on the depth chart. Still, if Todd Heap went down we suspect that Pitta would see plenty of snaps as well. Pitta is the more polished receiver of the two.

Sat Jul 31 201021:59Dickson working with first-team offense
Rookie Ed Dickson has been working with the first-team offense while Todd Heap recovers from swollen tonsils.
Dickson appears to be higher on the depth chart than fourth-rounder Dennis Pitta, but it's worth nothing that the Ravens consider the latter more of a "move" tight end. Pitta will be spotted around the field to take advantage of his superior polish as a receiver while Dickson will be used as a traditional tight end.

Fri Jul 2 201011:56Ravens ink Dickson to 3-year deal
Ravens agreed to terms with third-round TE Ed Dickson on a three-year contract.
Dickson will be competing at training camp with fellow rookie Dennis Pitta to be Todd Heap's backup. At 6'5/243 with decent speed and good hands, Dickson needs to improve his blocking. He had 42 catches and six touchdowns in as part of Oregon's run-heavy scheme in 2009.
Sun Jun 13 201018:43Pitta, Dickson competing for backup job
Rookies Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta are competing at OTAs to be the Ravens' No. 2 tight end.
Todd Heap's job is safe. Dickson has reportedly shown better speed than Pitta in practice, but Pitta has impressed with his "acceleration" and soft hands. Both have a ways to go to be viable NFL blockers. According to the Baltimore Sun, Pitta and Dickson's roles are not expected to be major this season.

Fri Apr 23 201020:55Ravens land a tight end with Oregon's Dickson
Ravens selected Oregon TE Ed Dickson with the No. 70 pick in the 2010 draft.
The Ravens addressed one of their biggest needs, finding a backup and successor to Todd Heap. Although he's a natural pass-catching tight end, Dickson displayed solid blocking fundamentals in the Ducks' run-heavy attack. An All-Conference selection the past two seasons, Dickson won't have fantasy value behind Heap as a rookie.
