Fri Sep 2 201108:49Karim plays well in preseason finale
Deji Karim had eight rushes for 58 yards in Thursday's preseason finale.
The Jaguars have still not updated the status of Rashad Jennings (knee), who was spotted on crutches Thursday. It's looking like Karim, a more natural change-of-pace back, could be Maurice Jones-Drew's backup in Week 1. Despite the strong preseason game, there's not nearly as much upside with Karim as there was with Jennings.

Wed Aug 24 201108:54Karim suffered concussion last week
Jaguars RB/KR Deji Karim suffered a concussion in last Thursday's preseason game against the Falcons.
The severity is unknown, but Karim was not back in practice as of Tuesday. The Jaguars picked up free agent Albert Young yesterday to serve as depth.

Mon Aug 15 201108:48Karim trying to get exception for visor
Jaguars RB/KR Deji Karim is trying to get an exception from the NFL so he can wear a tinted visor.
Karim underwent cataract surgery and cataracts can cause light sensitivity. He has had problems when looking up into the sun to field kickoffs. Karim ranked 13th in league in kickoff return average last season at 25.0 yards per return.

Thu May 26 201113:06Jags view Deji Karim as a specialty back
Jaguars GM Gene Smith characterized second-year RB Deji Karim as a "companion back" and "more of a specialty back."
It appeared early last season that Karim might pass Rashad Jennings on the Jags' depth chart, but the team doesn't view it like that. When Maurice Jones-Drew went down late last year, it was Jennings getting 19 and 26 touches in the final two games. Karim was just a change-up option. This is a position group to monitor in fantasy because MJD is coming off microfracture surgery.

Mon Jan 10 201114:36Deji Karim has successful surgery on hand
Jaguars RB Deji Karim underwent "successful" surgery on his hand Monday.
He played through the injury all year. The toughness was impressive for a rookie, and Karim also displayed explosiveness en route to an average of 4.57 yards per carry and 25.0 yards per kickoff return. Karim does need to improve his ball security. Though none of them were lost, he fumbled four times.

Sun Jan 2 201119:58Karim rushes for 52 yards in season finale
Deji Karim rushed seven times for 52 yards against the Texans in Week 17.
Karim showed his explosiveness with a 7.4 average as all but one of his carries went for at least five yards. The rookie has dynamic talent, but Dynasty owners are going to have to be patient with Rashad Jennings signed through 2012 and Maurices Jones-Drew through 2013. Karim finished with 1,248 yards on 50 kickoff returns for an average of 25 per.
Mon Nov 22 201010:32Karim was a healthy scratch Sunday
Jaguars RB/KR Deji Karim was a healthy scratch in Sunday's win over the Browns.
Karim appeared to get lost in a numbers game as Tiquan Underwood was active with Mike Sims-Walker (ankle) out. Karim still has long-term upside as Maurice Jones-Drew's backup because Karim is a better talent than Rashad Jennings.

Sun Nov 21 201011:53Jaguars declare Week 11 inactives
Jaguars declared RB/KR Deji Karim, WR Mike Sims-Walker, FB Brock Bolen, OT Guy Whimper, OT Adam Terry, WR Jason Hill, DE Aaron Morgan, and DT Nate Collins inactive against the Browns in Week 11.
We're not aware of an injury to Karim, who has averaged an impressive 25.2 yards per kickoff return. Rashad Jennings will handle backup duties at running back, and Tiquan Underwood is the favorite for kickoff returns.
Tue Oct 19 201000:49Karim emerges as MJD's backup in loss
Deji Karim rushed for three yards on three carries in the Jaguars' Week 6 loss to Tennessee.
Karim looked good returning kicks but was never given a chance to show what he could do in the running game. He's Maurice Jones-Drew's primary backup, as Rashad Jennings was active but did not see any touches. MJD owners holding onto Jennings as a handcuff should pickup Karim instead.
Sun Oct 10 201016:14Deji Karim emerges as playmaker off bench
Jaguars rookie RB Deji Karim ran for 70 yards on 15 carries in the team's Week 5 win over the Bills.
He also averaged 36 yards per kickoff return on four tries, including a 51-yard run back. Karim was active only because of Rashad Jennings' shoulder injury for this one, but the Jags will have to keep him "up" going forward. The underrated 2009 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year is a playmaker. Jennings may not be long for the Jaguars' primary backup job.
Thu Oct 7 201023:01Rookie Deji Karim to make NFL debut
Jaguars rookie RB/KR Deji Karim is expected to make his regular-season debut this week after missing six weeks with a thumb injury.
Tiquan Underwood has done a solid job filling in on kickoff returns, but Karim offers more game-breaking ability. The rookie is unlikely to have a role in the backfield this week.

Sun Oct 3 201014:40Jags declare inactives
Jaguars declared RB Deji Karim, S Sean Considine, third QB Trent Edwards, FB Brock Bolen, LB Justin Durant, OT Kevin Haslam, DE Austen Lane, and DT Landon Cohen inactive for Week 4.
No surprises here. Todd Bouman will be David Garrard's backup.
Fri Oct 1 201009:44Karim ready to play, but may not suit up
Jaguars RB/KR Deji Karim is ready for game action with a "new contraption" protecting his thumb, but he's not a lock to be active this week.
Tiquan Underwood (24.5 average) has performed well as a fill-in on kickoff returns, and Karim won't have an offensive role behind Maurice Jones-Drew and Rashad Jennings. Karim may have to wait for an injury to receive his first chance.

Fri Sep 17 201013:08Karim ruled out for Week 2
Jaguars KR Deji Karim (thumb) has been ruled out for Week 2.
As has fellow rookie Scotty McGee, so Rashad Jennings will return kicks with Mike Thomas on punts. Thomas is a decent WR3 in return-yardage leagues.

Sun Sep 12 201012:01Jags returners Karim, McGee out for Week 1
Jaguars kickoff returner Deji Karim and punt returner Scott McGee are both inactive for Week 1 against the Broncos.
Rashad Jennings is expected to fill in on kickoffs with No. 2 receiver Mike Thomas taking over on punts. Other Jaguars inactives: DB Don Carey, DB Michael Coe, FB Brock Bolen, OL Jordan Black, DE Austen Lane, and DL Landon Cohen.
Thu Sep 9 201017:03Karim limited in Thursday's practice
Jaguars RB/KR Deji Karim (thumb) was limited in Thursday's practice.
Mike Thomas is expected to fill in on punts for Scotty McGee (shoulder), who was held out of Thursday's practice. It looks like Karim has a good shot to handle kickoffs against Denver.

Wed Sep 8 201008:18Karim gets his cast off
Jaguars RB/KR Deji Karim (thumb) is expected back at practice this week.
Karim has the cast off his thumb, but had surgery just two weeks ago. We doubt he'll be ready to return kicks this week. The extremely athletic rookie has already lost the backup running back job to Rashad Jennings.

Wed Aug 25 201014:01Surgery to keep Karim out until October?
Rookie RB/KR Deji Karim will miss the rest of the preseason after undergoing surgery on his left thumb Tuesday.
The Jaguars are targeting "some point within the first quarter of the season" for Karim's return. Kolby Smith has a chance to stick as the third running back, and Cornerback Scotty McGee will likely hold down kickoff returns until Karim returns. Rashad Jennings has emerged as a clear-cut "handcuff" to Maurice Jones-Drew.

Wed Aug 25 201011:30Karim still sidelined
Jaguars RB/KR Deji Karim has been sidelined since injuring his thumb in Saturday's exhibition game.
We still don't have word on what the MRI on Karim's thumb showed, but the No. 3 running back isn't ticketed for a large role this season anyway. He'll need injuries in front of him to get on the field as a third-down back.

Mon Aug 23 201014:05Karim undergoing MRI on left thumb
Jaguars RB/KR Deji Karim is undergoing an MRI after injuring his left thumb in Saturday's game.
This could explain why Karim didn't receive a single carry against the Dolphins on Saturday. He was also replaced on kickoff returns by Scotty McGee late in the game. We should have an update on his status by mid-week.
