Though Shorts (hamstring) participated in Friday morning's walk-through, the Florida Times-Union reports that the wideout is is not practicing.
We'll have to see exactly how the Jaguars officially list Shorts' practice activity Friday, but the report suggests that is expected that the wideout will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles, which kicks off at 1:00 ET.
Fri Sep 5 201411:57Shorts (hamstring) participated in Friday morning's walkthrough
Shorts (hamstring) participated in Friday morning's walkthrough, but did not practice in full, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports.
Shorts was limited Thursday due to a left hamstring issue, and it looks like the Jaguars will continue to take a conservative approach. If he had been able to participate more during Friday's practice, we'd feel a lot more confident about his prospects of suiting up Sunday, but for now, his status remains cloudy. Check back on his status prior to Sunday's game, and if he's unable to go, look for Marquise Lee, Allen Robinson (hamstring) and Allen Hurns to see increased targets.

Shorts was unable to finish practice Thursday due to left hamstring tightness, the Florida Times-Union reports. "It was more precautionary on our part," coach Gus Bradley indicated Thursday. "He just had a little bit of tightness. We were looking at possibly giving him [today] off and we said, Let's go out there and see how it feels.' Then we said, Let's not do it.'"
The report notes that it was a right hamstring issue that slowed the wideout during the preseason, but we'll feel a lot better about Shorts' Week 1 status if he gets a good practice in on Friday. Officially, Shorts was listed as a limited practice participant Thursday. Next up in the team's wideout pecking order in the event that Shorts is limited at all this weekend are Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.

Shorts was held out of Thursday's practice due to tightness in his hamstring, John Oehser of jaguars.com reports.
On the plus side, Oehser adds that coach Gus Bradley indicated that Shorts was held out Thursday for precautionary reasons. Based on that, as long as Shorts practices in some capacity Friday, the wideout's Week 1 status does not appear to be in jeopardy.

Shorts (hamstring) caught one pass for 17 yards on three targets in Thursday's preseason finale against the Falcons.
Having played in the final two preseason games, Shorts should be good to go for Week 1 in Philadelphia. He's locked in as a starter to open the season, but could face eventually pressure from rookies Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson (hamstring), if he doesn't display his 2012 form. Marqise Lee, who caught a 57-yard touchdown in Thursday's game, will presumably be the other starter in Week 1.

Shorts (hamstring) had no catches on two targets in Friday's preseason game against the Lions.
Shorts played a limited number of snaps in his first appearance of the preseason, which allowed UDFA Allen Hurns to see plenty of work with the first-team offense. While locked in as a Week 1 starter, Shorts could face competition for snaps if he doesn't flash his 2012 form. Hurns is having an incredible preseason, and the Jags selected both Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson (hamstring) in the second round of May's draft. With Robinson yet to play this preseason, Shorts and Lee are the projected starters, with Hurns making a strong case for at least the No. 3 role. Even if we assume that Shorts will essentially be an every-down player throughout the entire season, there's considerable competition for targets in what will likely be one of the league's worst passing offenses. On a more positive note for prospective fantasy owners, the Jags will likely spend much of the season playing from behind.

Shorts (hamstring) is expected to play "about 15 plays" in Friday's third preseason game against the Lions.
Shorts returned to practice Sunday after being sidelined since the first day of training camp due to a hamstring injury. Projected to be the Jaguars' No. 1 pass-catching option this season, Shorts was handed Tuesday's practice off to ensure he's available Friday versus Detroit. Although his snap count will be limited, any game action should benefit Shorts' rapport with Jacksonville's quarterbacks, particularly rookie Blake Bortles, who could see first-team action Friday.
Tue Aug 19 201416:12Shorts (hamstring) given day off Tuesday
Shorts (hamstring) was given the day off Tuesday, the Florida Times-Union reports.
Shorts continues to work back from a hamstring injury and acknowledged over the weekend that he's still rusty. While he's considered healthy, the team opted to give him an extra day off Tuesday in advance of Friday's preseason matchup against Detroit.

Shorts (hamstring), who returned to practice Sunday, acknowledged that he is "definitely rusty," the Florida Times-Union reports.
Shorts injured his hamstring back on July 25, so a little rust is not unexpected at this stage. While it remains unclear what sort of plans the Jags have for the 26-year-old wideout over the team's next two preseason games, Shorts believes that he has enough time to get up to speed in advance of the team's regular season opener. "Absolutely, it's more than enough time," Shorts said Sunday. "It's the perfect amount of time actually. I'm confident about that."
Sun Aug 17 201410:49Shorts (hamstring) will practice Sunday
Shorts (hamstring) will practice Sunday, The Florida-Times Union reports.
Shorts' right hamstring injury has kept him sidelined since the opening day of training camp. Nonetheless, with a week of practice slated before Friday's next preseason game, Shorts is expected to play in some capacity the next time Jacksonville takes the field. Considering Shorts enters the season as Jacksonville's No. 1 wideout, he'll use the remainder of the preseason to build chemistry with quarterbacks Chad Henne and Blake Bortles.

Shorts (hamstring) is expected to return practice in a limited capacity on Sunday, ESPN.com reports.
Barring any setbacks, the report suggests that Shorts -- who injured his hamstring on the first day of training camp -- figures to see some reps in next Friday's preseason contest against the Lions. Assuming his health entering the regular season, Shorts is in line to serve as the Jags' top wideout, with rookies Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson also candidates to emerge as key cogs in the team's passing game.

Shorts (hamstring) won't be ready for Thursday's preseason contest against the Bears, according to the Jaguars' official site reports.
On the plus side, the report suggests that Shorts' issue is not viwed as a long-term concern and that he could be back in time for the Jags' third preseason game, against Detroit on Aug. 22.

Shorts (hamstring) is "definitely ahead of schedule" in his rehab but is still without a firm return timetable, the Florida Times-Union reports. "I ran 100 percent a couple times last week straight-line and actually ran 8-10 routes, too, and felt good," Shorts said. "I'm going to do it again Sunday and we'll go from there. We just want to be careful and not aggravate it."
Shorts, who has been out since July 25 with a right hamstring injury, is unlikely to play in the Jags' second preseason game versus the Bears on Thursday. However, he's targeting a return for the team's matchup with Detroit on August 22. Barring a setback, Shorts will have at least a preseason game or two to work himself into game shape before the regular season begins September 7.

Shorts (hamstring) has been ruled out for Friday's preseason game against the Bucs, the Florida Times-Union reports.
When Shorts suffered a strained hamstring back on July 26, the initial estimate was that the wideout would miss at least two weeks. While it's still unclear when he'll be back, receivers coach Jerry Sullivan suggested that he is hopeful that Shorts will get some work in before Week 1. With Shorts, as well as the likes of Allen Robinson and Mike Brown also banged up, Marqise Lee and undrafted rookie Allen Hurns could draw starting wideout assignments for the Jags on Friday.
Sun Jul 27 201419:25Cecil Shorts has a Grade 2 hammy strain
Tests revealed that Cecil Shorts sustained a Grade 2 hamstring strain in Friday's practice.
In other words, it's more severe than standard early-camp tightness. Shorts will be sidelined at least two weeks, adding more injury concerns to his outlook. He underwent groin surgery in December and sat out almost all offseason workouts with calf and hamstring issues.

Sat Jul 26 201412:43Hamstring strain sidelines Cecil Shorts
Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts is expected to miss "several weeks" with a hamstring strain.
The injury forced Shorts from practice on Friday. Injuries have become a bugaboo for Shorts, who missed most of OTAs and all of minicamp with a hamstring injury and has been limited by injuries each of the last two seasons. Shorts should be ready for the start of the season, but it is hard to be confident he will play a full 16 in 2014.

Fri Jul 25 201412:27Cecil Shorts (hammy) can't finish practice
Cecil Shorts (hamstring) had to leave Friday's training camp practice early with hamstring tightness.
We normally don't post injuries like this, but it's becoming a concern for Shorts. He missed most of OTAs and all of minicamp with a balky hamstring. The injuries have been piling up for Shorts the past season-and-a-half or so. It's something to monitor this summer. Shorts is expected to play in the slot more in 2014.

Fri Jul 11 201414:25Shorts, Brown attending Fitzgerald Camp
Jaguars WRs Cecil Shorts and Mike Brown are participating in Larry Fitzgerald's summer camp in Minnesota.
The "Fitzgerald Camp" is a two-week workout session that has served as a prelude to breakout wide receiver years in the past, although both Shorts and Brown attended last year's Fitz Camp as well. Per Brown, "about 30" players are participating this year, including Dwayne Bowe, Andre Roberts, Kyle Rudolph, Ryan Mallett, and Chiefs CB Sean Smith. Shorts appears to have recovered from his June hamstring injury, which cost him most of OTAs and all of minicamp.

Tue Jun 17 201413:14Cecil Shorts (hammy) sidelined at minicamp
Cecil Shorts (hamstring) won't participate in this week's minicamp.
Shorts sat out most of OTAs, as well. It's not a major concern and shouldn't affect his availability for training camp, but Shorts has become increasingly prone to injury the past year or so. He battled a concussion in 2012 and was hampered by calf, shoulder, and groin injuries last season, the latter which required surgery.

Sun Jun 8 201410:44Baldwin's deal a template for Cecil Shorts?
The Florida Times Union thinks Doug Baldwin's deal with the Seahawks could be a template for contract-year WR Cecil Shorts.
Baldwin inked a three-year, $13 million contract that includes $8.5 million guaranteed. Shorts and Baldwin's career numbers are eerily similar despite Shorts playing nine fewer games over the same timeframe. He's been a big-time beneficiary of garbage time. 42.9 percent of Shorts' receiving yards came in the fourth quarter last season. The Jaguars are expected to let injury-prone Shorts play out his contract, though the two sides have had "general" talks.
