According to ESPN 1500 Twin Cities, WR Stephen Burton has "stood out" in Vikings OTAs.
Burton has been running with the first-team in Percy Harvin's absence, and has been making the most of his opportunity. A seventh-round pick, Burton was waived at final cuts last season before being re-signed in October. He could push Devin Aromashodu for a roster spot with a strong camp, and may be in the mix on returns.

Vikings WR Stephen Burton worked with the first-team offense in Percy Harvin's absence on Wednesday.
Burton is focusing on the Z, or flanker, position. That's where Michael Jenkins figures to line up in three-wide sets, but Burton will get an opportunity to beat both he and Devin Aromashodu out for a roster spot. The Vikings took a chance on Burton in the seventh round last season due to his combination of size (6'1/224) and speed (4.44).

Thu Jun 7 201216:53Vikings WR Burton flashing in OTAs
Vikings WR Stephen Burton, a seventh-round pick last year, has "flashed quite a bit" during OTAs, catching coach Leslie Frazier's attention.
"You can see the confidence and that's a big thing for a receiver," Frazier said. "He has tremendous athletic ability and he is one of those guys who can jump out of the gym and make the acrobatic catch." We'd like to see Burton carry that performance over to training camp before expecting more than special teams role for 2012.

The Vikings will place WR Stephen Burton on injured reserve with a third-degree knee strain, ending his season.
Burton will rehab without surgery. A seventh-round pick, Burton was active as the Vikings' No. 4 receiver the past two weeks, but appeared in only three games this season. He made two catches for 38 yards. He should be back to 100 percent well before training camp, and challenge for a spot on the Vikings' 2012 roster. He's not on the radar in dynasty leagues.

According to Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 Twin Cities, Vikings seventh-round WR Stephen Burton has "no chance" to make the final roster.
"He's had as bad a camp as I can recall seeing from a draft pick," writes Pelissero. Ouch. Burton has the requisite size/speed package at 6'2/224 with legit 4.40 speed, but he's struggled with drops in camp. Burton is plenty raw coming out of West Texas A&M.
