Fri May 23 201416:37Rob Housler could tumble down depth chart
The Cardinals' website believes fourth-year TE Rob Housler will have to "work hard" to stay high on the 2014 depth chart.
The Cards' site isn't suggesting Housler has work ethic issues. He's simply not a fit for Bruce Arians' offense, which utilizes tight ends primarily to block. Arizona drafted Troy Niklas in the second round, signed John Carlson, and re-signed Jake Ballard. Housler, 26, could go on the trade block late in training camp. He'll never realize his pass-catching upside under Arians.

Fri Feb 21 201412:53Arians: I believe tight ends need to block
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians made it clear at the Combine that he prefers blocking to pass-catching tight ends.
Arians is different from much of the rest of the NFL in this way. He believes Heath Miller is the best tight end in football. "Tight ends for me block first, catch second," stated Arians. As much as we like Rob Housler's athletic skill set, he's not going to have an opportunity to break out statistically until he leaves Arizona. Housler is entering his contract year in 2014.

Mon Feb 10 201415:07'Make or break year' for Cards TE Rob Housler
The Cardinals' website considers 2014 a "make or break year" for TE Rob Housler.
It very much is, seeing as Housler is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Still a deficient blocker and prone to injury, Housler has been a constant on weekly injury reports and missed three games in 2013, finishing with a 39-454-1 receiving line. Housler's biggest fantasy obstacle remains coach Bruce Arians' offense, which has never produced big tight end numbers.

Sun Dec 29 201321:21Rob Housler drops one early, impresses late
Rob Housler caught five passes for a season-high 78 yards in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the 49ers.
Housler's day got off to a bad start as he dropped a pass in the end zone early. But after that he did what many expected he would do all year -- make athletic, tough catches as a true "move" tight end. Housler's breakout didn't happen this year though, as he finishes with 39 catches for 454 yards and just one touchdown. You can see the playmaking talent, but he had every opportunity this year and it didn't happen. Housler will be a TE2 as he enters the final year of his rookie contract in 2014.

Rob Housler (groin) returned to Cardinals practice Thursday.
It's Housler's first practice in two weeks. How he bounces back on Friday will be key, but he's now on track to start Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Housler won't be more than a low-end TE2 against Seattle's suffocating pass defense.

Rob Housler caught three passes for 42 yards in Week 14 against the Rams.
Housler was limited by a hip injury late in the practice week but gave it a go on Sunday and finished second on the team in receiving. He's improved over the course of the season, but Housler is merely a TE2 for fantasy purposes.

Fri Dec 6 201316:16Rob Housler limited, listed as questionable
Rob Housler was limited in Cardinals practice Friday with a hip injury, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.
Housler was a late addition to the injury report, which is never a good sign. Housler has been far too inconsistent with not enough upside to be trusted in the first round of fantasy football playoff games.

Tue Nov 12 201308:12Rob Housler gets a 'confidence boost'
Coach Bruce Arians said he thinks Rob Housler's Week 10 performance will "be a great confidence boost for him."
Housler caught four passes for a season-high 57 yards and scored his first career touchdown in the win over the Texans. Always long on athleticism and upside, the third-year Florida Atlantic product is now averaging 4.0 catches for 39.0 yards over the last four games. He'll be a TE2 against the Jags this week and will get a boost if Michael Floyd (shoulder) sits.

Sun Nov 10 201320:11Housler goes for 57 yards, touchdown
Rob Housler caught four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals' Week 10 win over the Texans.
Housler has a lot of athleticism, but is a poor blocker. His playing time and production have both been maddeningly inconsistent and unreliable week to week from a fantasy standpoint. Consider Housler a boom-or-bust TE2 when the Cardinals take on Jacksonville in Week 11.
