Wed Sep 4 201315:39Arians: Rob Housler (ankle) day-to-day
Coach Bruce Arians said Rob Housler (ankle) is day-to-day.
Arians added that he doesn't want Housler's high-ankle sprain to "linger." Beat writer Kent Somers seems to think the tight end is "worse than questionable" for Sunday's opener against the Rams. It doesn't sound like he'll practice this week. Upgrade all of the Cardinals' receivers slightly if Housler sits out.

Mon Sep 2 201314:18Rob Housler not practicing Monday
Rob Housler (ankle) was held out of Monday's practice.
It was just an informal session ahead of Wednesday's official return to practice, but doesn't bode well for Housler's Week 1 status. Dealing with a high-ankle sprain, Housler could miss all of September. The one-time fantasy sleeper is off the re-draft radar for the time being.

Mon Aug 26 201315:19Cards TE Rob Housler has high ankle sprain
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians revealed Monday that Rob Housler has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.
If it's a high ankle sprain of even normal severity, Housler will definitely miss next week's season opener and could be out quite a bit longer than that. Housler suffered the injury in Arizona's third preseason game. Already behind Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, and Andre Roberts in the competition for Cardinals targets, Housler isn't worth a pick in standard fantasy drafts.

Sun Aug 25 201302:35Housler gets first catch of preseason
Rob Housler was held to one catch for nine yards in the Cardinals' third preseason game against the Chargers.
Housler was a non-factor on offense and dropped a wide-open touchdown in the end-zone on his only other target of the night. He had zero catches entering Saturday's game and continues to struggle mightily this preseason. Housler won't be anything more than a mere stash on fantasy benches to start the season.

Wed Aug 21 201311:50Rob Housler has one target in preseason
Rob Housler has seen one target and has zero catches through 32 preseason snaps.
Coach Bruce Arians downplayed the lack of involvement. "[Housler is] a given to me, so I don't need to see that part," Arians said. "Right now, we're not featuring Robby a lot in the passing game. It's more blocking, and I think he's improved tremendously." We'd have an easier time believing Arians if he featured tight ends at his previous stops. The highly athletic Housler will be a mere stash on fantasy benches to start the season.

Mon Jul 29 201318:45Rob Housler 'hard to miss' at Cardinals camp
ESPN NFC West blogger Mike Sando observes that it's "hard to miss" Rob Housler when watching Cardinals' training camp practice.
"[There's a] buzz about him in the locker room, too," Sando tweeted. "Big plays. Fast." Following coach Bruce Arians' praise of the 25-year-old's catching ability, the Cardinals' official website predicted Housler as the team's most likely breakout candidate earlier this month. Housler is Rotoworld's No. 14 fantasy tight end at the moment, but there's plenty of upside.

Tue Jul 9 201318:16Cards' website: Housler top breakout cand.
AzCardinals.com considers TE Rob Housler the team's most likely breakout candidate.
Reporter Darren Urban predicts Housler could snag upwards of 60 passes after posting a 45/417/0 line in 2012. That may be on the conservative side for some of Housler's biggest backers, but would still put him squarely in the TE1 conversation. New coach Bruce Arians has called the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Housler a "wideout playing tight end," and believes "the sky is the limit as far as where he can get talent-wise."

Fri Jun 7 201317:37Arians high on Rob Housler as pass catcher
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians talked up Rob Housler's pass-catching ability at OTAs.
As expected, Housler is working as Arizona's first-team tight end. Arians described Housler as "a wideout playing tight end," and believes "the sky is the limit as far as where he can get talent-wise." Housler is 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds with 4.55 speed. Arians has never made a habit of heavy tight end involvement in the passing game, but Housler is talented enough to buck the trend.

Mon Jan 14 201308:57New Cards GM: Housler is an emerging star
Newly promoted Cardinals GM Steve Keim believes TE Rob Housler is an "emerging star, creating mismatches in the slot and outside."
As the former VP of player personnel, Keim likely played a big role in scouting and selecting Housler in the third of the 2011 draft. Housler's breakout season would have received more attention in fantasy circles had the QB situation not held the offense hostage for the final three months. Housler is locked in as the starter for 2013.

Wed Dec 26 201213:47Housler officially sent to injured reserve
Cardinals placed TE Rob Housler on injured reserve with a sprained shoulder, ending his season.
The Cardinals announced Housler's season was over on Monday. WR Kerry Taylor was promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. Housler's injury is just a sprained AC joint, which isn't an overly serious issue. Housler remains one of the more promising young tight ends in the game, but his 2013 fantasy value will rely almost solely on who's under center for the Gridbirds. If it is anyone like Derek Anderson/Max Hall/John Skelton/Ryan Lindley/Brian Hoyer, he'll be in trouble.

Mon Dec 24 201213:08Rob Housler out for Week 17 w/ shoulder issue
Cardinals TE Rob Housler suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's loss to the Bears, and will be unavailable for this week's finale.
Specifically, he has a sprained AC joint. It's not a serious injury. The 2011 third-round pick took a nice step forward in his sophomore campaign, reeling in 45 balls for 417 yards. His numbers would have almost certainly been better had the Cardinals not had an historically bad quarterback situation. Housler's 2013 fantasy value will depend on who's under center in Arizona, but his Dynasty arrow continues to point up.

Sun Dec 23 201220:55Housler held without a catch in Week 16
Rob Housler was held catch-less on three targets against the Bears in Week 16.
Housler narrowly missed out on a one-handed touchdown catch down the right side of the end zone when he couldn't secure the ball falling to the ground. Otherwise, Housler was an obvious non-factor. He'll look to finish on a more positive note when the Cardinals visit the 49ers in Week 17.

Fri Dec 21 201218:25Rob Housler questionable for Week 16
Rob Housler (knee) is questionable for Week 16 after getting in his third straight limited practice on Friday.
It's actually an upgrade on last week, where Housler missed Friday's practice before suiting up against the Lions. Housler is going to play against the Bears, but with Ryan Lindley under center, he remains off the redraft-league radar.

Thu Dec 20 201217:02Rob Housler remains limited on Thursday
Rob Housler (knee) remained limited in Thursday's practice.
The Cardinals have taken to managing Housler's reps, but he's expected to be fine for Sunday's game against the Bears. Housler is an intriguing young talent, but won't be a fantasy factor so long as Ryan Lindley is starting games for the Gridbirds.

Wed Dec 19 201217:02Rob Housler limited in Wednesday's practice
Rob Housler (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
We saw a similar pattern out of Housler last week before he ultimately suited up against the Lions. However, his two catches for 13 yards hardly instills any confidence in him as a viable fantasy option. Housler should be avoided this week.

Sun Dec 16 201220:21Housler hauls in two passes in win
Rob Housler caught just two passes for 13 yards in Week 15 against the Lions.
Housler has been a decent security blanket for the inept Arizona quarterback duo, but he holds zero fantasy value. He should be avoided in Week 16, along with the rest of the Cardinals offense.

Fri Dec 14 201216:26Rob Housler listed as questionable
Rob Housler (knee, ankle) missed Cardinals practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 15.
Per beat writer Kent Somers, Housler apparently aggravated one of his injuries and his status is now in doubt. Avoid Arizona's pass game in the fantasy playoffs.

Thu Dec 13 201216:06Rob Housler upgraded to full on Thursday
Cardinals TE Rob Housler (knee) was upgraded to "full" in Thursday's practice after being limited on Wednesday.
He's ready to roll for Sunday. Although Housler has come on in the absence of Todd Heap, Arizona's erratic (at best) quarterback play makes him far too risky to trot out as a low-end TE1. Housler is an intriguing hold in Dynasty leagues, but not worth the hassle in redraft formats.
