Sun Oct 12 201420:08Andre Holmes: Goes For 121 Yards, 2 Touchdowns
Holmes hauled in 4-of-8 targets for 121 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Chargers.
The third-year wideout got behind single coverage on the Raiders' third play from scrimmage, resulting in a 77-yard score in the opening minute of the game. Holmes then used his great size and athleticism to make a catch along the sideline in the second quarter, which went for 30 yards and set up a score to James Jones, before connecting with quarterback Derek Carr again in the fourth quarter from six yards out. With 195 yards on 20 targets in his last two games, Holmes has established himself as a player who should be owned outside of the shallowest of leagues.

Holmes had five catches on 12 targets for 74 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Dolphins.
Holmes moved into the starting job opposite James Jones after Rod Streater suffered a foot injury that will keep him out for up to five weeks, and he delivered in his first game in an expanded role. His 12 targets were double the next-highest receiver (Jones, six), while his touchdown came on a 22-yard pass from backup quarterback Matt McGloin, who entered in the third quarter after Derek Carr was knocked out with knee and ankle injuries. Holmes has decent upside with that many targets, though the Raiders are off in Week 5 before facing a decent Chargers pass defense in Week 6.

Holmes is expected to move into a starting role with Rod Streater (foot) out 4-5 weeks, ESPN.com reports.
Coach Dennis Allen said bluntly that Holmes "will be the guy" to replace Streater, though he mentioned Vincent Brown and Brice Butler as candidates for increased roles as well. It's worth noting that Allen did not mention Denarius Moore, who has hauled in just eight of 20 targets for 60 yards so far this season. The 6-foot-4 Holmes will make for an intriguing speculative add in deeper leagues, because while he racked up just 29 yards in last Sunday's loss to the Patriots, those yards came on a beautiful catch along the sidelines, and he also drew a pass interference penalty. Although Holmes did not catch a pass last season until Week 11, he still tied for the team lead with 10 receptions of 20-plus yards, and his size will likely make him a top candidate for red zone looks.

Holmes caught five passes on seven targets for 45 yards in last Sunday's loss to the Texans.
After not being targeted in Week 1, Holmes saw seven looks against Houston, though five of them came in the fourth quarter, with the team trailing by multiple touchdowns. Still, he was on the field for 33 offensive snaps -- he was on the field for just one in the opener -- and could take on a more significant role this week if Rod Streater (hip flexor) is forced to sit. Further, the Raiders should have plenty of garbage time opportunities again in Foxboro, but until Holmes shows it on the field, he'll make for a tough hold, even in very deep leagues.
Tue Sep 9 201416:13Holmes did not see target in Sunday's loss to Jets
Holmes did not see a target in Sunday's loss to the Jets.
Raiders wide receivers combined for 18 targets, with the bulk of them split between Denarius Moore (8) and Rod Streater (7). James Jones saw three and Holmes was shut out. It's a disappointing development for the 26-year-old Holmes, whose size-speed combo had established him on the radar in deeper leagues. Until he shows some sort of connection with rookie Derek Carr, however, Holmes can be left alone.

Holmes caught two passes for 27 yards on three targets in Friday's preseason game against the Packers.
While the numbers were fine, all three of Holmes' targets came with the second-team offense, and Denarius Moore worked as the clear No. 3 receiver. Despite his excellent physical tools, Holmes will likely open this season as the fourth or fifth wide receiver in a shaky offense.

One week after starting, Holmes wasn't targeted until late in the third quarter of Friday's preseason game against the Lions.
Holmes caught two passes for 42 yards on seven targets, but more importantly, he was invisible in the first half. A week ago, there was speculation that he might challenge James Jones for playing time. Now, that looks far less likely, and he may just be fighting for a role as the third or fourth receiver. Though he had a quiet game, Denarius Moore worked as the No. 3 wide receiver Friday night.

Holmes and Rod Streater started Friday's preseason opener against the Vikings, Scott Bair of CSNCalifornia.com reports.
Holmes failed to catch both of his targets, and Streater didn't even get any looks. Though Holmes is listed as a starter and got the nod Friday, James Jones may very well be the starter come Week 1. Meanwhile, the likes of Denarius Moore, Greg Little, Juron Criner and Brice Butler seem to be competing for the No. 4 and 5 roles.

Holmes is listed as a starter by the Raiders in advance of their preseason opener, ibabuzz.com reports.
Meanwhile, Rod Streater is listed as the team's other starting wideout on the Raiders' initial preseason depth chart. While we suspect that Holmes' current placement above James Jones is temporary, Holmes does seem to be in a position to claim a key role in the Raiders' passing game, with the likes of Denarius Moore, Greg Little, Juron Criner and Brice Butler also jostling for depth chart slotting.
Thu Jun 26 201417:11Schaub: Andre Holmes can stretch field
Matt Schaub believes WR Andre Holmes is "a guy that can stretch the field for us."
Holmes, 26, is someone to monitor. He stands 6-foot-4, 210 with 4.45-4.51 speed and averaged 17.2 yards on 25 receptions last season. "He's a long strider, a big guy who can stretch the field vertically and go up and get the football," described Schaub. With James Jones nursing injuries, Holmes ran with Oakland's first-team offense during OTAs, lining up across from Rod Streater.

Fri Jun 13 201409:53Holmes passing Moore in Oakland as No. 3 WR
The San Francisco Chronicle reports Andre Holmes "seems to be" passing Denarius Moore as the Raiders' No. 3 receiver.
James Jones and Rod Streater would appear to be Nos. 1 and 2. Holmes cam on strong over the latter half of last season, wrapping up his second NFL season with 25 catches for 431 yards (17.2 YPR) and one touchdown. He was Oakland's best receiver over the final month. Moore is entering the final year of his rookie deal. The coaching staff has grown tired of his inconsistency. We wouldn't be surprised if Moore was traded. Holmes is worth a late-round flier in re-draft.

Sun Dec 29 201320:47Andre Holmes held to three catches
Andre Holmes had three catches for 38 yards in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Broncos.
He was targeted eight times in the passing game. Holmes had been the Raiders' best receiver over the last four weeks, but took a step back with Terrelle Pryor at quarterback. He finishes his second NFL season with 25 catches, 431 yards, and one touchdown. Holmes will be back at a $645,000 salary in 2014.

Sun Dec 22 201320:34Andre Holmes leads Raiders in receiving
Andre Holmes had five catches for 71 yards in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Chargers.
Holmes led the Raiders in receiving and made some athletic catches again this week. He rotated with Denarius Moore in two-wide sets and finished with a team-high eight targets. Holmes dropped an easy touchdown in the end-zone late in the second quarter, but he was clearly Oakland's best receiver. He'll look to finish the season strong in Week 17 against the Broncos.

Sun Dec 15 201319:48Andre Holmes shows up big again
Andre Holmes caught four passes for 58 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's Week 15 loss to the Chiefs.
Holmes continues to open eyes with freakish plays on a weekly basis. This time, it was an insane one-handed catch that went for 28 yards on the sideline. He also added his first career NFL touchdown. Holmes will be very difficult to trust in Week 16 because he's rotating in with Denarius Moore, but the Dynasty appeal here is strong. Holmes, a former member of the Cowboys practice squad, has made more "wow" plays in the last month than Miles Austin has in three years.

Sun Dec 8 201317:42Andre Holmes posts 63 yards on three catches
Andre Holmes had three catches for 63 yards in Sunday's Week 14 loss to the Jets.
Holmes took a step back after going off for nine catches and 168 yards last week. He was targeted seven times, finishing behind only Rod Streater, and had an impressive 40-yard catch in the second quarter. Holmes will be on the WR4 radar if Denarius Moore (shoulder) can't return in Week 15. His upside is limited by the Raiders' run-heavy offense.

Mon Dec 2 201308:02Raiders comfortable getting ball to Holmes
Coach Dennis Allen referred to Andre Holmes as "a guy, obviously, that we feel very comfortable with."
The Raiders have had no problems starting Holmes as Denarius Moore (shoulder) has missed the last two games. The second-year pro has totaled nine catches for 168 yards during that span, showing a strong rapport with fellow former backup Matt McGloin. In Week 14, the Raiders get to face a Jets secondary that's getting toasted over the top on a weekly basis. If Moore sits, the size/speed freak Holmes would be a WR4 with upside.

Thu Nov 21 201308:28Andre Holmes to replace Denarius Moore
Andre Holmes is expected to start if Denarius Moore (shoulder) can't play Sunday.
Moore missed practice Wednesday and is questionable at best for the matchup with the Titans. It's a big chance for Holmes, an impressive physical specimen at 6'4/210 who high-pointed a 33-yard catch against the Texans last week. He's a name for extreme deep leaguers to put on watch lists as Matt McGloin breathes some life into the Raiders passing game.

Sun Nov 3 201314:38Andre Holmes, Brice Butler inactive for OAK
Raiders declared WR Andre Holmes, WR Brice Butler, SS Tyvon Branch, DE Ryan Robinson, C Andre Gurode, DE Brian Sanford and OT Tony Pashos inactive for Week 9 against the Eagles.
With both Holmes (hamstring) and Butler inactive, Juron Criner is active for the first time in 2013. Rookie OT Menelik Watson (calf, knee) will also be making his 2013 debut, but should come off the bench.

Mon Oct 7 201316:31Andre Holmes comes off suspended list
Raiders activated WR Andre Holmes from the reserve/suspended list.
Holmes was serving a four-game PED ban, and the Raiders didn't activate him for Week 5. The third-year undrafted free agent will bring up the back of Oakland's receiver corps. There's no guarantee he'll keep his roster spot through the end of the season.
