Fri Dec 14 201213:45Alfred Morris listed as probable
Alfred Morris (illness) missed Redskins practice on Friday, but is listed as probable for Week 15 at Cleveland.
The probable tag means Morris is "virtually certain" to be available for his normal game-day role. Rotoworld likes him as a top-nine running back in Week 15.

Sun Dec 9 201216:51Alf pounds out 122 yards, TD in OT thriller
Alfred Morris pounded out 122 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries to lead the Redskins to a thrilling 31-28 overtime victory against the Ravens in Week 14.
Even with a big run lost to a holding penalty, Morris was a big factor in the Redskins' NFL season high 191 first-quarter yards. His second-quarter lost fumble led to the Ravens' third touchdown and momentum shift that lasted deep into the fourth quarter. Morris managed just six yards on five carries in the final quarter and overtime. The rookie is on pace for 1,510 yards and nine touchdowns entering Week 15 at Cleveland.

Tue Dec 4 201200:07Morris salts away MNF win with big 4Q runs
Alfred Morris rushed for 124 yards on 22 carries in Washington's Week 13 victory over the Giants on Monday night.
Morris effectively salted away the victory with big final-drive runs to burn out the lock, and he was a key contributor with 41 hard-earned yards on the game-winning fourth quarter touchdown drive. Morris now has 1,106 yards on the ground, which sets the franchise rookie rushing record. The Florida Atlantic product is now on pace to tote the rock 306 times for 1,474 yards and eight touchdowns. Morris has a date with Baltimore's No. 23 run defense next week.

Mon Nov 19 201210:29Alfred Morris takes over as third-down back
Alfred Morris was the Redskins' third-down back in Sunday's win over the Eagles.
Morris replaced Evan Royster in the role, playing on 9-of-11 third downs. On four of those plays, he ran pass routes. "(Coach) told me he was going to give me an opportunity to do it, and I really am thankful because he's trying to help me become a complete back," Morris said. Although Alf ended up with just one catch, it's a promising sign for his overall value. The Redskins are committed to getting him on the field as much as possible. "If he can stay healthy and just keep on doing the things he's done, he will be a big-time back for a lot of years," Mike Shanahan said. "He's a special guy."

Sun Nov 18 201216:23Alfred Morris totals 83 yards versus Eagles
Alfred Morris rushed 20 times for 76 yards and added one reception for seven yards versus the Eagles in Week 11.
It wasn't his finest game. The rookie fumbled, was guilty of two false starts, and made an ill-advised jump cut for a loss on fourth-and-inches. He was luck to pad his numbers in garbage time. One promising sign was that Morris handled some third-down work that had previously gone to Evan Royster. Morris travels to Dallas for the Thanksgiving game in Week 12.

Tue Nov 13 201217:20Alfred Morris: Stinger injury was over-blown
Alfred Morris revealed that the shoulder injury sustained in Week 9 was a stinger, and "they blew it out of proportion on TV."
Morris missed five plays with the injury. "I came out because I didn't want to carry the ball and drop it," Morris explained. "With a stinger, you kind of go completely numb, and then it comes back. That's all it was." Morris practiced on Monday and is fully expected to start versus the Eagles in Week 11.

Mon Nov 5 201208:21Shanahan: Skins are evaluating for 2013 now
Following Sunday's loss to the Panthers, coach Mike Shanahan said the rest of the year will be about evaluating players for next season.
Realistically, the 3-6 Redskins aren't going to make the playoffs. But for Shanahan to essentially throw in the towel on this season seems strange. "Now you're playing to see who, obviously, is going to be on your football team for years to come," Shanahan said. "Now we get a chance to evaluate players and see where we're at." If the Redskins aren't simply going to play their best players, it's going to be hard to project roles on a weekly basis. The only ones we can really trust right now are Alfred Morris and Robert Griffin III.

Sun Nov 4 201218:25Alfred Morris totals 76 yards versus Panthers
Alfred Morris rushed 13 times for 76 yards versus the Panthers in Week 9.
Morris was well on his way to a 100-yard game in the first half before a shoulder injury sent him to the sidelines. He got the green light to re-enter after missing a handful of plays, and the injury didn't appear to be a factor on one especially physical run. Morris was involved in one fourth-quarter play, but watched Evan Royster in pass-heavy comeback mode for the majority of the final frame. We will keep an eye out for updates on Morris' shoulder, but he does have benefit of the bye week.

Sun Oct 28 201216:46Morris rushes for just 59 yards in loss
Alfred Morris rushed just 13 times for 59 yards in Sunday's Week 8 loss to the Steelers.
Morris never really got a chance to get going after the Redskins fell behind early in Pittsburgh. The Steelers' top-10 rush defense keyed in on the run game forcing Robert Griffin III to beat them with his arm, but the Washington receivers dropped a number of passes to contribute to the losing effort. Morris, a sixth-round rookie, doesn't have elite speed or much shiftiness, but he will run guys over and earn hard yards with his power. He's an elite fantasy option against the Panthers in Week 9.

Sun Oct 21 201217:03Alfred Morris racks up a 100-yard day
Alfred Morris rushed 22 times for 120 yards and caught two passes for 10 yards in the Redskins' Week 7 loss to the Giants.
Morris did lose a fumble for the first time all season, but the Redskins didn't hesitate to go right back to him. Continuing to show excellent vision and lower-body power, Morris posted his third 100-yard day in his last four games and is now averaging 4.76 yards per carry. Just because the sixth-round rookie doesn't have flashy speed doesn't mean he isn't an elite fantasy option weekly.

Thu Oct 4 201215:42Shanahan: Morris 'has got a big-time future'
Coach Mike Shanahan believes rookie RB Alfred Morris has a "big-time future" ahead of him.
Shanahan also hinted at the Terrell Davis comparison that his son made a couple weeks back. Both Shanahans credit Morris' practice preparation for his early-season improvement. "He only goes one speed, even in practice and walkthrough," said Kyle Shanahan, noting that Morris has already "come a long way" in pass protection and pass catching. Morris' Dynasty value continues a steady uphill climb.

Wed Oct 3 201210:05Alfred Morris beasts after contact
Alfred Morris gained 82 of his 113 rushing yards against the Bucs after contact.
Morris can reportedly squad 645 pounds and it shows. He runs through arm tackles with impressive power and never stops moving those strong legs. It's a recipe for a big season in Shanahan & Son's zone-blocking scheme. Morris is fantasy's No. 5 running back through four weeks and it's not a fluke.

Sun Sep 30 201219:53Alfred Morris runs for 113 yards, TD in win
Alfred Morris rushed 21 times for 113 yards with a touchdown in the Redskins' 24-22 Week 4 win over the Bucs.

Sun Sep 23 201218:41Alfred Morris impressive once again
Alfred Morris rushed 17 times for 78 yards with a touchdown in the Redskins' Week 3 loss to the Bengals.
Morris continues to impress as he soaks up all the early-down work. He got one-on-one with a safety on his touchdown run and ran him over for the score. Through the first three games of his NFL career, Morris has rushed for 263 yards and three touchdowns with a 4.31 YPC. He's a weaker option in PPR formats, but makes for a solid RB2 against the Bucs next week in standard leagues.

Thu Sep 20 201216:10Morris' attributes similar to Terrell Davis?
Redskins OC Kyle Shanahan said the coaching staff has seen "some of Terrell Davis" in rookie RB Alfred Morris.
Shanahan added that the coaching staff knew early in training camp that Morris could be a "primary back." Like Davis, Morris was a sixth-round pick with a slow forty time and a decisive, one-cut running style. If Morris rushes for 85+ yards this week, he will become the third in franchise history to pull off the feat at the start of a season. For now, he has as much job security as possible under the Shanahans. Ride him while he's hot.

Sun Sep 16 201220:58Alfred Morris rushes for 89 yards in loss
Redskins RB Alfred Morris rushed for 89 yards on 16 carries in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
Morris averaged 5.6 yards per carry, and looked especially sharp in the first half when he broke off a 27-yard gain. Like we saw out of him in Week 1, he ran angry, seeking contact. More importantly, he did not make any mistakes that would jeopardize his standing as the Redskins' starting running back. Evan Royster and Roy Helu came in on passing downs, but the tandem saw a combined four touches. Morris seems to have a pretty firm grip on the job.

Mon Sep 10 201215:26Shanny endorses Alfred Morris as starter
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan endorsed Alfred Morris as his starting running back Monday.
"Alfred right now is our starting running back," Shanahan said. In Shanny-speak, that means Morris is in line for zero carries in Week 2. Kidding aside, not even Shanahan will be able to pull a fast one after Morris rushed for 96 yards on 28 carries in Sunday's win, and generally looked at home in the Redskins' zone-blocking scheme. With Roy Helu and Evan Royster both waiting in the wings, Morris remains a tenuous long-term investment, but he can be unequivocally counted on to start and lead Washington in carries against the Rams.

Sun Sep 9 201209:42Report: Alfred Morris to start at New Orleans
NBC 4 Washington's Dan Hellie reports rookie Alfred Morris will start at running back for the Redskins in New Orleans on Sunday.
Morris apparently earned the nod by staying healthy in August, showing an impressive combination of decisive cuts and power running in a 107-yard performance versus the Colts in the preseason dress rehearsal. Coordinator Kyle Shanahan has made it clear this backfield will be a "hot hand" situation, and Morris will give way to Roy Helu or Evan Royster on passing downs. Although Morris is the best fantasy bet of the trio this week, he's more of a flex option than a strong RB2.

Fri Sep 7 201217:25Shanny wants to 'keep them guessing' at RB
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan again refused to reveal his starting running back Friday, stating his preference to "keep them guessing."
At least Shanny is being less oblique about his running back subterfuge than he used to be. According to the Washington Post, "several people with knowledge of the situation" believe Alfred Morris is the "probable" starter, but that it's unclear "if a final decision had been made." Evan Royster is Rotoworld's highest rated 'Skins back for Week 1, though each of Royster, Roy Helu and Morris are ranked between No. 36 and No. 45. It remains a situation to avoid if at all possible.
