Fri Jul 5 201313:51Travis Benjamin expected to start for Gordon
The Browns are expected to start Travis Benjamin at X receiver during Josh Gordon's two-game suspension.
Greg Little is the Z receiver, and Davone Bess plays in the slot. Benjamin has sub-4.4 jets and big-play ability, averaging 16.6 yards on 18 receptions as a rookie. He's still unlikely to be a fantasy-viable early-season producer. We wouldn't be surprised if TE Jordan Cameron emerged as Cleveland's leading pass catcher in the first two games, building momentum for a breakout year.

Mon Jun 10 201317:00Weeden praises WR Travis Benjamin
Brandon Weeden says second-year WR Travis Benjamin has "stuck out" in spring practices and praised Benjamin's route-running ability.
Because Greg Little, Davone Bess, and David Nelson are all strict possession receivers, it's conceivable that burner Benjamin will be the primary beneficiary of Josh Gordon's two-game suspension. "Travis had at least as many catches if not more than anybody in camp," Weeden said. "His route running is phenomenal, probably because he's so fast. Guys have to honor him running by them."

Sun Apr 14 201317:11Browns high on Benjamin for punt returns
The new Browns regime believes second-year WR Travis Benjamin is capable of becoming an "outstanding" punt returner.
This probably explains Cleveland's complete unwillingness to try to re-sign Josh Cribbs. Benjamin, the 100th pick in last year's draft, possesses 4.36 wheels and broke off a 93-yard punt return touchdown as a rookie despite seeing only three punt return chances all season. In addition to situational deep threat duties on offense, Benjamin will replace Cribbs as the Browns' return specialist.

Sun Dec 16 201218:18Travis Benjamin blows past Johnson for TD
Travis Benjamin caught one pass for a 69-yard touchdown in the Browns' Week 15 loss to the Redskins.
Benjamin found himself singled up out wide against Redskins backup CB Dominique Johnson in the fourth quarter of a blowout. For some reason, Johnson sat on the route and Benjamin just blew past him for his second career touchdown. It was Benjamin's second catch since Week 9.

Sun Oct 21 201216:41Travis Benjamin catches 3 balls for 33 yards
Browns rookie WR Travis Benjamin returned to the lineup from a hamstring injury in Week 6 and caught three passes for 33 yards.
He was targeted five times. Benjamin was the No. 4 receiver behind Greg Little, Josh Gordon, and Josh Cooper, but the Browns under Pat Shurmur have always believed in receiver rotations and Benjamin received a healthy dose of snaps. Benjamin isn't a re-draft league fantasy option, but he's someone to keep in mind long term. Benjamin can really run and Cleveland's offense is improving.

Thu Oct 18 201216:48Massaquoi, Benjamin still limited
Travis Benjamin (hamstring) and Mohamed Massaquoi (hamstring) remained limited in Browns practice Thursday.
Massaquoi and Benjamin will return after sitting out in Week 6, but coach Pat Shurmur has hinted their snaps will be limited. Neither player should be anywhere near your roster in 12-14 team leagues.

Fri Oct 12 201211:58Browns WR Benjamin returns to practice
Browns WR Travis Benjamin (hamstring) returned to practice Friday.
Benjamin's status for Sunday's game is still up in the air. Mohamed Massaquoi (hamstring) and Jordan Norwood (foot) are sitting out again on Friday. Josh Cooper will get the call from the practice squad if Benjamin isn't ready to play.

Fri Oct 5 201215:08Travis Benjamin doubtful for Sunday
Browns WR Travis Benjamin (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Both Benjamin and Mohamed Massaquoi are going to sit this one out. Unimpressive rookie Josh Gordon is going to get a shot to start opposite Greg Little.

Thu Oct 4 201213:24Benjamin, Massaquoi idle with hamstrings
Browns WRs Travis Benjamin (hamstring) and Mohamed Massaquoi (hamstring) are both sitting out Thursday's practice.
We knew Benjamin was dinged, but this is the first we've heard that it's a hamstring injury. Missing Thursday's practice is never a good sign for a player's availability on Sunday. Josh Gordon could be starting opposite Greg Little this week.

Fri Sep 28 201209:03Benjamin plays 45-of-71 snaps in Week 5
Rookie WR/KR Travis Benjamin played 45-of-71 snaps (63 percent) versus the Ravens in Week 4.
Greg Little played 64 while third receiver Josh Gordon played 30. Although NFL Network reported Benjamin would start, it was actually Josh Cribbs lined up opposite Little. Following Cribbs' concussion, Benjamin took over on returns and on offense. He had one pass sail through his hands, was the intended receiver on Brandon Weeden's pick-six and generally looked lost on returns. He finished with just two catches for 26 yards.

Sun Sep 23 201217:48Travis Benjamin gets his first TD
Travis Benjamin caught two passes for 44 yards with a touchdown in the Browns' Week 3 loss to the Bills.
Benjamin's first career touchdown was a pretty 22-yard strike over the middle that brought the Browns within three points in the third quarter. However, he continues to play behind Greg Little, Mo Massaquoi and Greg Little. There's no real upside here.

Sat Aug 18 201215:48Travis Benjamin returns to practice
Browns fourth-round WR Travis Benjamin (undisclosed) return to practice Friday.
Benjamin missed Thursday's preseason game after sitting out all week. "I was kind of nicked up,'' Benjamin said. "It wasn't really as sore. I had a few minor problems, but it's OK now." Severely undersized at 5-foot-10, 172 pounds, Benjamin could have a hard time staying healthy as a rookie. For what it's worth Benjamin said he could have played Thursday.

Mon Aug 13 201222:50Soreness keeping Benjamin out of practice
Browns fourth-round WR Travis Benjamin (soreness) has missed the last two days of practice.
Benjamin's size (5'10/173) was already a concern and now he's too sore to practice after his first game at the NFL level. Benjamin's poor durability will hold him back in his competition with Mohamed Massaquoi and Jordan Norwood for regular snaps.

Wed Aug 1 201219:12Shurmur expects WR Benjamin to contribute
Coach Pat Shurmur expects fourth-round WR Travis Benjamin to contribute on offense as a rookie.
"Absolutely," Shurmur said. "I think both of those guys [Benjamin and second-rounder Josh Gordon], if they progress like they're doing at the pace they're going now, then I think they'll be major contributors. Both those guys." We'd advise waiting for the depth chart to shake out before drafting either of the Browns rookie receivers.

Mon Jul 30 201223:30Rookie WR Benjamin pushing for playing time?
According to Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports, Browns coaches believe rookie WR Travis Benjamin could push for playing time this season.
Fellow rookie Josh Gordon has been the talk of camp with his "striking" size and fast learning, but Benjamin has been consistently making plays. "[Gordon] is a big physical guy. With Greg Little and [rookie] Travis Benjamin there too, we feel like we've gone from a so-so group to a really good group," said coach Pat Shumur. "We're excited about them, we really are." Benjamin is player to monitor in Dynasty leagues only. Meanwhile, the wind has gone out of the "Mohamed Massaquoi: breakout player" sails.

Sun Jun 17 201210:47Browns No. 3 WR job between Norwood, Cooper
The Cleveland Plain Dealer did not mention fourth-round Travis Benjamin when examining the Browns' No. 3 wide receiver competition.
Jordan Norwood and undrafted Josh Cooper are listed as the two players competing for the role. Both are slot receivers, however, so it's more likely that the two are specifically competing for that role in three-wide sets. Benjamin, meanwhile, currently trails Mohamed Massaquoi for a starting job opposite of Greg Little.

Mon May 14 201209:51Shurmur believes Benjamin could start
Browns coach Pat Shurmur confirms he expects fourth-round WR Travis Benjamin to compete for a starting job.
"I would say so," Shurmur said Sunday. "I saw a lot of good stuff from Travis this weekend (in Browns' rookie minicamp), and I feel like he'll only continue to get better." Shurmur's comments speak to the sorry state of Cleveland's receiver corps far more than Benjamin's ability. Benjamin shouldn't crack the radar in redraft fantasy leagues as a rookie.

Sun May 13 201216:44Shurmur: Browns are counting on Benjamin
Coach Pat Shurmur stated at rookie minicamp that the Browns expect fourth-round WR Travis Benjamin to play a "significant" 2012 role.
Shurmur hinted that Benjamin could start. While Benjamin's college game tape was largely unimpressive -- a very high percentage of his catches came off bubble screens --- opportunity abounds in Cleveland's receiver-less offense. The lone Browns wideout worth a pick in 2012 re-draft leagues will be Greg Little.
