Randle grabbed six passes on nine targets for 74 yards in Sunday's loss at Dallas.
Randle didn't lead the Giants in receiving yardage, as TE Larry Donnell had 90 yards, but he once again had the most targets of any pass catcher on the team. Even before Victor Cruz's season-ending injury in Week 6, Randle had been seeing a big number of targets though, with 30 looks between Weeks 3-5. Meanwhile, rookie Odell Beckham had just four catches for 34 yards Sunday, but scored a pair of touchdowns. Randle should have an easier time after the Giants' bye next week, facing an average Colts' secondary in Week 9.

Randle caught 5-of-9 targets for 58 yards in Sunday's 27-0 loss to the Eagles, while fellow wide receiver Victor Cruz suffered a torn patellar tendon.
Randle has already been playing the vast majority of offensive snaps, but the Cruz injury should lead to added targets, though it may also bring extra attention from opponents. Randle was the only New York wideout with more than two receptions, four targets or 28 yards in Sunday's game, as Eli Manning attempted just 23 passes behind a suddenly helpless offensive line. The Giants' offensive performance was rather shocking, as the unit was on a roll heading into Sunday's contest.

Randle had four catches on a team-high 10 targets for 33 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Falcons.
Randle has now been targeted 10 times in three consecutive games, but he's caught more than half of them just once, and that was the only time he's recorded more than 39 receiving yards. The opportunities are there, so if he can catch a few more passes thrown his way, Randle could make a serious fantasy impact. That change could happen as soon as Week 6, as the Giants face an Eagles defense that has allowed the most passing touchdowns this season, while giving up the fourth-most passing yards per game.

Randle caught eight passes for 89 yards on 10 targets in Sunday's 45-14 win over the Redskins.
Randle mostly played a nice game while recording 10 targets for a second straight week. However, he also just barely missed out on a touchdown, as he grabbed a pass in the end zone during the third quarter, only to have it knocked out of his hands and into a defender's by the helmet of Washington safety Brandon Meriweather. While Randle's level of involvement in the offense is encouraging, he didn't do much with his targets before Thursday, and the Giants finally figure to have first-round rookie WR Odell Beckham (hamstring) for Week 5 or 6.
Mon Sep 22 201401:06Randle caught five of 10 targets for 27 yards Sunday
Randle caught five of his 10 targets for 27 yards Sunday.
Despite the quiet day he actually led the team in targets. The Giants offense looked a lot smoother in Week 3, and if that continues Randle should have a breakout game before long.

Randle had four catches on seven targets for 39 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Cardinals.
Randle was much busier Sunday after posting two catches for one yard in Week 1 against the Lions. His touchdown came on a seven-yard jump ball that got the Giants on the board in the second quarter, and his good size will keep him as a popular red zone target for quarterback Eli Manning. Up next is a tough matchup against the Texans in Week 3.

Randle had two catches for one yard on three targets in Monday's 35-14 loss to the Lions.
Randle and Victor Cruz combined for just four catches and nine targets, while third receiver Jerel Jernigan caught 4-of-7 targets for 25 yards in an unimpressive performance. The only Giants to produce in the passing game were TE Larry Donnell (5-56-1) and RB Rashad Jennings (4-50-0). Eli Manning continued the trend from last year and this preseason, struggling throughout Monday's game. Randle still has appeal as the tallest regular wide receiver in what should be a pass-oriented offense, but he's no better than second fiddle to Cruz, and thus needs the team as a whole to get on track. Also worth considering is that Odell Beckham (hamstring) will eventually join the mix. If Randle doesn't show up soon, his opportunities may start to evaporate.

Randle caught two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Friday's preseason game against the Jets.
With Odell Beckham (hamstring) yet to play this preseason, and Jerel Jernigan struggling, Randle seems like a safe bet to work across from Victor Cruz in two-wide formations at the beginning of the season. The Giants don't figure to throw many passes to their tight ends, so the wideout group should see plenty of targets. As easily the largest player of that group, Randle has a nice opportunity to make frequent visits to the end zone.
Thu Aug 7 201402:23Randle has looked good early in camp
Randle has looked good early in camp, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Randle is using his size, speed and length to gain separation and make plays in practice. With Odell Beckham still nursing a hamstring injury, Randle is the early favorite to be the team's No. 2 target. He's also their only significant red-zone presence.

Randle started Sunday's Hall of Fame Game against the Bills, but he did not receive any targets.
Randle and Victor Cruz were listed as the starters on the broadcast, but the Giants opened in a three-wide set, with Cruz in the slot and Randle and Jerrel Jernigan outside. Jernigan caught two passes for 13 yards but dropped his other target. Meanwhile, first-round draft pick Odell Beckham (hamstring) missed the game with a minor injury. It's unclear how things will shake out behind Cruz, and there's no question that Randle has plenty of competition for snaps and targets. That Reuben wasn't targeted Sunday is essentially meaningless, as Cruz didn't see any throws either.
Sun Jul 27 201411:47Breakout season expected for Rueben Randle
According to the New York Daily News, the "stage is set" for a Rueben Randle breakout in 2014.
With Hakeem Nicks out of the picture, Randle is starting opposite Victor Cruz. It sounds like the Giants plan to frequently throw the ball up to him in contested situations in the red zone and downfield. "I've got to play big," Randle said of his new role. "They're going to allow me to do that. My job is to make that big play, whether it be in the end zone or down the field." Randle said he's "very confident" he'll score "double-digits in touchdowns." At 6'3/208, Randle projects as the main red-zone beneficiary with the Giants severely lacking talent at tight end. Randle is primed to explode. With an ADP in the ninth round, Randle is a tremendous value.

Wed Jul 16 201422:38Rueben Randle expected to start over ODB
The New York Daily News writes Rueben Randle "seems the favorite to start" opposite Victor Cruz in two-wide set.
Randle "seems the favorite to start" over rookie Odell Beckham. The Giants are expected to essentially run a base three-wide offense under new OC Ben McAdoo, but "starting" in two-wide formations could mean the difference between playing 95 percent of the snaps, and 65-70. It's certainly worth noting. Beckham missed time during OTAs with a hamstring issue, giving Randle an edge.

Tue Jun 24 201413:52Giants seeing a more focused Rueben Randle
Giants WRs coach Sean Ryan says the team saw a more focused Rueben Randle during the spring.
"For me, the battle with him is consistency, and I think he's addressed it in this offseason in the way he approaches his job," Ryan said. "I've seen a difference in his seriousness towards his work. This spring, I thought he was locked in." The switch to a simpler offensive system that doesn't rely as heavily on option routes should also help Randle. He's going to line up all over the field, even in the slot. Entering his third year, Randle is oozing with WR2 upside.

Thu Jun 19 201422:58Giants may use Randle at slot receiver some
Rueben Randle says the Giants' new offensive staff has approached him about adding slot receiver snaps to his repertoire.
"They were talking to me about coming in on the inside," Randle said, "using my big body in the seams. Whatever they need me to do, I'll do it." Randle is playing the role occupied by Jordy Nelson in Green Bay, from where new OC Ben McAdoo hails. McAdoo likely wants to be able to move around his receivers frequently, like the Packers' wideouts do. Victor Cruz should remain the Giants' primary slot man, but more snaps there could further boost Randle's outlook.

Wed Jun 18 201409:57Rueben Randle showing well at OTAs, minicamp
According to NJ.com, Rueben Randle "continues to have a strong offseason."
All that public shaming of Randle by the Giants appears to have motivated the talented third-year player. He "seems to be running sharper routes and has displayed consistently strong hands." Randle is going to play the majority of snaps as an outside receiver in new OC Ben McAdoo's three-wide base, and is a serious breakout candidate. He consistently made "wow" plays in limited opportunities behind Hakeem Nicks.

Thu Jun 12 201420:19New Giants offense will have fewer WR reads
Giants WR Rueben Randle believes new OC Ben McAdoo's offense will allow him to think less about reads and focus more on getting open.
Randle struggled with option routes in old OC Kevin Gilbride's system leading to him frequently being out of sync with Eli Manning. That should not be a problem in McAdoo's offense. If he is allowed to simply go out and use his physical gifts, Randle has the talent to be a difference maker. He is a good bet to lead the Giants in touchdown receptions this season.

Sun Jun 1 201416:17Arrow pointing up on Rueben Randle
The Newark Star-Ledger projects Rueben Randle as the primary outside receiver opposite Odell Beckham, and expects the Giants to give Randle "the chance to prove he's an elite first-round talent at wide receiver."
Beat writers Jordan Raanan and Conor Orr project Randle and Beckham outside, with Victor Cruz at slot receiver. If Beckham ends up returning kicks and/or punts, Randle could also be the "starter" in two-wide formations opposite Cruz. The Giants are using three-receiver sets as their base offense at OTAs, so that point may be moot. As Cruz stands 6'0/206 and Beckham 5'11/198, 6-foot-3, 210-pound Randle is a good bet to lead New York in 2014 touchdown catches.

Wed May 21 201411:31Giants to scale back option routes
The Giants plan to rely less on option routes under new OC Ben McAdoo.
Old OC Kevin Gilbride's scheme employed heavy option-route concepts, which led to frequent miscommunications between Rueben Randle and Eli Manning, and discouragement with Randle among the coaching staff. (Randle was the intended target on a team-high eight of Eli's interceptions.) Beat writer Art Stapleton believes fewer option routes "should help" Randle. Despite mixed offseason indications, we like Randle's chances of breaking out as the best red-zone weapon and highest-ceiling wideout on the Giants' roster.

Fri Apr 25 201414:57Cruz hints Giants aren't sold on WR Randle
Victor Cruz is the latest member of the Giants' organization to hint this offseason that the team isn't sold on Rueben Randle as its answer at X receiver.
Giants GM Jerry Reese said at the Combine that the "jury is still out" on Randle, while ex-OC Kevin Gilbride stated in mid-April that the Giants need to "get somebody that's going to be productive for them as an outside receiver," which is Randle's position. "[A big-play receiver] is something we need in this offense to be successful," stated Cruz. Cruz suggested the Giants acquiring Mike Evans in the draft. "If I had my choice, if I had my pick, I think I'd go receiver," said Cruz. "I think we should go receiver."

Wed Apr 23 201409:19McAdoo installing West Coast scheme with NYG
New OC Ben McAdoo has been handed complete control of the Giants offense.
McAdoo is installing a West Coast scheme very similar to the one he learned and ran in Green Bay. It means a lot more quick-hitting, timing routes and less of the read-react, vertical stuff Kevin Gilbride preferred. The system change is good news for Rueben Randle, who has gobs of natural talent but has often struggled to get on the same page with Eli Manning. McAdoo's scheme features defined routes.
