Wed Apr 16 201421:58Gilbride says Giants need WR who can 'win'
Ex-Giants OC Kevin Gilbride may have hinted on PFT Live Monday that he left the team not sold on Rueben Randle.
It's worth noting GM Jerry Reese stated at the Combine that the "jury is still out" on Randle, and that he's not sure whether Randle is a No. 1, 2, or 3-caliber receiver. Gilbride told PFT that the Giants need to "get somebody that's going to be productive for them as an outside receiver. Victor Cruz is terrific, but they need somebody that when they go match up, bump and run (and) go win." We'll find out more about the Giants' faith (or lack thereof) in Randle via the draft.

Fri Mar 28 201410:46Coughlin heaps praise on Rueben Randle
Coach Tom Coughlin said the Giants have "a lot of belief" in Rueben Randle's ability to replace Hakeem Nicks.
"We have high expectations for Rueben," Coughlin said. "Rueben has to continue to develop, continue to become a better pro -- focus, concentration, production on the field, consistency, day in and day out. Practicing. You've seen the plays the guy can make. He's made great plays ... We have a lot of belief and stock in his development." Randle is entering his third season, the year receivers typically make their biggest leap, and he's going to be given every opportunity to earn the No. 2 job. With OC Ben McAdoo simplifying the offense, Randle has gobs of breakout appeal.

Thu Mar 6 201410:06GM Reese: Jury is still out on Randle
Giants GM Jerry Reese said "the jury is still out" on Rueben Randle.
Reese said he expects Randle to make a "significant jump," but his lukewarm endorsement suggests he's not certain it will happen. That's probably due to a history of miscommunications with Eli Manning on option routes. New OC Ben McAdoo is expected to simplify the passing game, which should allow the highly talented and explosive Randle to just play. When the dust settles, we're expecting Reese to be plenty satisfied with Randle as a Hakeem Nicks replacement.

Sat Feb 22 201414:10Giants GM expects WR Randle to make big jump
Giants GM Jerry Reese said at the Combine he expects Rueben Randle to make a "significant jump" next season.
With the Giants moving on from free agent Hakeem Nicks, Randle is going to be the primary outside receiver in Ben McAdoo's West Coast offense. He had 41 catches, 611 yards, and six touchdowns despite only making three starts last year. Randle should see heavy targets as the No. 2 option behind Victor Cruz and is a major breakout candidate for 2014.

Fri Jan 17 201412:27Rueben Randle to benefit from McAdoo hire?
The Newark Star-Ledger envisions Rueben Randle being one of the main beneficiaries of OC Ben McAdoo's offense.
The Giants are going to run more of a traditional West Coast offense under McAdoo, which should employ many three-wide sets. So, even if Hakeem Nicks re-signs, which we don't think he will, Randle will still have a large role. Randle will be able to use his 6-foot-2, 208-pound frame to "box out" cornerbacks on quick slants and back-shoulder fades. He has monster upside for 2014.

Sun Dec 29 201314:19Rueben Randle bows out early due to knee
Rueben Randle left Sunday's Week 17 game against the Redskins due to his knee injury and will not return.
We're not sure why Randle even suited up for this meaningless finale in the first place. It was pouring rain and he was clearly at far less than 100 percent. Randle's season ends with a dud and a 41/611/6 line, but his 2014 arrow is pointing straight up. Hakeem Nicks is expected to walk in free agency, leaving Randle as the likely starter opposite slot man Victor Cruz. The 2012 second-round pick has seen just 112 targets in his career, but he's produced 909 yards and nine touchdowns. It's realistic to project 120 targets next season.

Sun Dec 29 201311:25WR Rueben Randle is active for Giants finale
Rueben Randle (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Randle only got one practice in this week as his sore knee flared up, but he'll start opposite Hakeem Nicks while Jerrel Jernigan mans the slot. The concern is that Randle will be operating at less than 100 percent and his production in two starts earlier this year left a lot to be desired. Jernigan, who has 13 catches on 20 targets over the last two weeks, is a safer play. Andre Brown (concussion) is also starting, as expected. The Giants inactives: WR Victor Cruz (knee), G Brandon Mosley (hand), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder), TE Adrien Robinson (knee), OL Eric Herman, LB Allen Bradford and QB Ryan Nassib.

Fri Dec 27 201314:27Louis Murphy takes Rueben Randle's reps
Louis Murphy took most of Rueben Randle's (knee, questionable) reps during Friday's practice.
It's not a great sign for Randle's chances of playing against Washington. Following Friday's workout, coach Tom Coughlin described Randle as "still sore." He's no longer a recommended cheap-flier in daily fantasy leagues.

Fri Dec 27 201313:36Rueben Randle listed as questionable
Rueben Randle (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 17.
Randle returned to practice Friday and appears more likely than not to start against the Redskins, but Week 17 fantasy leaguers need to check back Sunday morning to be sure. Randle has six TDs and 611 yards on the season.

Fri Dec 27 201312:21Rueben Randle (knee) back at practice
Rueben Randle (knee) returned to practice Friday.
Randle's knee "flared up" on him, forcing him to miss practice Wednesday and Thursday. He insisted it wasn't a major issue, and Randle's return to the field Friday proves it. Fire Randle up as a boom-or-bust WR3 against the Redskins.

Thu Dec 26 201318:44Randle says he'll play against Washington
Rueben Randle insisted Thursday that his knee injury is not serious, and he will play Sunday against Washington.
Randle missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. "It just flared up on me," said Randle. "It's just one of those things that I just woke up (on Tuesday morning) and it happened. I don't remember getting hit or landing on it funny or making any contact with anybody (against Detroit)." Randle "hopes" to practice on Friday. Fantasy owners in Week 17 leagues need to monitor the situation. Louis Murphy would get the start if Randle can't go.

Thu Dec 26 201312:35Rueben Randle missing from Giants practice
Rueben Randle (undisclosed) is not practicing Thursday.
The Giants have not yet said why Randle is not practicing. The initial thought is that it's injury related, but we won't know for sure until practice is over. Randle was somewhat of a bust as a Week 16 plug-n-play as he managed a mere 4/40/0 line, but he would have a bounce-back opportunity in Week 17 against the Redskins' No. 22 pass defense.

Wed Dec 18 201308:47Rueben Randle headed for every-snap role
Rueben Randle is expected to be an every-down receiver in Sunday's game at Detroit.
Victor Cruz (concussion, knee) is almost certainly out. It leaves Randle opposite Hakeem Nicks in all two-wide sets and also outside in three-wide sets (with Jerrel Jernigan in the slot). Randle makes for a risky WR3 plug-n-play because the Giants' passing offense has been off all season, but the second-year man is a serious playmaker. He's seen just 102 career targets, turning that into 56 catches for 869 yards and nine touchdowns. Playing in a dome against a weak Lions secondary, Randle will carry upside into fantasy's Super Bowl week.

Sun Dec 15 201316:40Randle held catch-less on 2 targets
Rueben Randle was held catch-less on two targets in the Giants' Week 15 loss to the Seahawks.
Randle has been an entirely boom-or-bust fantasy commodity throughout the season. It's worth noting that Randle would likely be in line for a start in Week 16 against the Lions if Victor Cruz (knee/concussion) can't play. We're guessing he won't. Unfortunately, the Giants' dysfunctional passing attack wouldn't make Randle an auto-WR3 start. He'd still be plenty risky.

Mon Dec 2 201300:47Randle catches three passes in Week 13
Rueben Randle caught three passes for 20 yards in Sunday night's Week 13 win over the Redskins.
It's the second straight week Randle has been held to just three catches. He was targeted four times in the passing game, behind only Victor Cruz and Brandon Myers. Even with Hakeem Nicks back in the lineup, Randle remains a WR3 option in fantasy leagues. He's on pace for 47 catches, 725 yards, and eight touchdowns this season.

Sun Nov 24 201320:36Rueben Randle held to 64 yards in loss
Rueben Randle caught three passes for 64 yards in the Giants' Week 12 loss to the Cowboys.
Eli Manning only passed for 174 yards, so there wasn't much production to be divvied up among his receivers. Randle's 64 yards led the team. Hakeem Nicks (groin) is tentatively due back for Week 13 against Washington, but if he isn't Randle will be a WR2/3 option in fantasy leagues. Randle's big-play ability showed up Sunday on a 16-yard punt return and 22-yard reception.

Sun Nov 24 201312:52Mo Claiborne to cover Rueben Randle?
DallasCowboys.com's Bryan Broaddus expects Morris Claiborne to match up with Rueben Randle for most of Sunday's 4:25PM ET game assuming Hakeem Nicks (groin, questionable) is inactive.
Broaddus, a former NFL personnel man and longtime scout, anticipates Orlando Scandrick covering Victor Cruz in the slot. Brandon Carr would presumably be used as a rover DB, potentially seeing time at safety as he has in the past. Claiborne has not played in a game since Week 8. When healthy, Claiborne has graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 87 cornerback among 108 qualifiers.

Sun Nov 17 201321:36Randle secures all three targets, TD in win
Rueben Randle caught three passes for 37 yards and one touchdown in Week 11 against the Packers.
Randle caught all three passes that came his way. His 26-yard touchdown kicked off the scoring in the first quarter. Randle got behind Micah Hyde, who was all turned around, on the play. He's now visited the end zone six times in his last six games and leads the team in touchdowns. Randle is catching a lot of footballs, but he's scoring at a high rate. That makes him a fine WR3 candidate every week. Dallas is up next. Randle caught five passes for 101 yards against the Cowboys in the season opener.
