Sun Oct 27 201317:29Rueben Randle held without a catch
Rueben Randle caught no passes on one target in Sunday's Week 8 win at Philadelphia.
Very, very strange. We didn't see any injury to Randle, but when Victor Cruz left for neck X-rays he was replaced by Jerrel Jernigan. It confirms the Giants don't see Randle capable of playing in the slot. Still, it was surprising Eli Manning didn't give his No. 3 wideout more chances to make plays as he had four touchdowns in the previous three games. We'll chalk this dud up as a little fluke for the weekly WR4 with upside. Randle is still on pace for 46 catches, 746 yards and eight touchdowns.

Tue Oct 22 201301:11Randle catches three passes, TD in MNF win
Rueben Randle caught three passes for 40 yards and one touchdown in Monday night's Week 7 win over the Vikings.
Randle secured all three of his targets. He beat Chris Cook from 24 yards out to reel in the touchdown. Randle is clearly the Giants' most-talented weapon on the outside. But he remains a bit raw and mistake-prone. Randle coughed up a fumble on a punt return to set the Vikings up in the red zone. Josh Freeman gave it away on an interception two plays later. Randle will be a strong WR3 play next week against the Eagles. He burned them for two touchdowns in Week 5.

Thu Oct 17 201308:59Randle, Eli still trying to get on same page
Six of Eli Manning's league-leading 15 interceptions have been intended for Rueben Randle.
Randle is shouldering the blame here as the Giants are pushing him to define his routes better and exhibit better "body presence." The fact that he hasn't been benched is a tip of the cap to his talent level. The Giants know the No. 3 wideout is a big part of their offense now and is a core piece of their future with Hakeem Nicks in the final year of his contract. "He brings a lot to the table," coach Tom Coughlin said of Randle. "We just have to keep working with him and refining that talent."

Fri Oct 11 201300:20Randle has mixed night in Giants' latest loss
Rueben Randle caught three passes for 75 yards and a touchdown in New York's Week 6 loss to the Bears.
On the surface, it was a strong night for the Giants' No. 3 receiver, but the second-year pro committed a number of mistakes. Randle was the target on each of Eli Manning's first two interceptions, clearly running the wrong route on the second. He redeemed himself by racking up some hard-earned YAC on his 37-yard touchdown in the second quarter, but almost committed one of the biggest gaffes you'll ever see in the third. Disgusted after he slipped on a potential 32-yard touchdown, Randle angrily slammed the ball to the ground - only he hadn't been touched. Mercifully, the refs ruled he "gave himself up." An incensed Mike Mayock did not agree. Randle's talent jumps off the screen, but he's a weekly WR4 dice roll in New York's dysfunctional offense.

Sun Sep 15 201321:08Randle reels in just 3-of-9 targets in loss
Rueben Randle caught just three passes for 14 yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the Broncos.
A week after racking up 101 yards on five catches against Dallas, Randle reeled in just three of his nine targets against a better Denver secondary. He's not start-able in standard roster-sized leagues unless one of Victor Cruz or Hakeem Nicks goes down. The Giants travel to Carolina next week.

Mon Sep 9 201301:11Rueben Randle gets first 100-yard game
Rueben Randle had five catches for 101 yards in Sunday night's loss to the Cowboys.
Randle was targeted six times and averaged 20.2 yards-per-catch. He played opposite Hakeem Nicks in three-wide sets, with Victor Cruz in the slot. The Giants had a lot of success getting Randle one-on-one coverage on the right side of the field. He did most of his damage in the fourth quarter, but saw a ton of snaps in spread and three receiver packages. Randle would be a plug-in-play WR2 if one of Cruz or Nicks gets injured.

Sat Aug 24 201323:20Randle starts, plays with first-team offense
Rueben Randle had two catches for 14 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets.
With Victor Cruz sidelined, Randle started opposite Hakeem Nicks and was targeted four times by Eli Manning. He remains an intriguing talent, but is no higher than the No. 4 option in the Giants' passing game. Through three preseason games, Randle has five receptions for 47 yards (9.4 YPC).

Sat Aug 10 201321:56Randle catches 16-yd pass in preseason opener
Rueben Randle's lone reception went for 16 yards in the Giants' preseason opener Saturday night.
Randle juked two Steelers defensive backs on a short catch, tacking on yards after the reception. His only other target was overthrown by Eli Manning. Randle has starter tools, although his 2013 fantasy outlook is dependent on Hakeem Nicks' health. If Nicks can't get right, Randle will offer blowup potential.

Fri Aug 2 201308:472nd-year WR Randle star of Giants camp so far
The New York Daily News considers Rueben Randle the No. 1 star of Giants training camp so far.
The Giants are just now beginning full-pad practicing, so take this with some built-in caution. But Hakeem Nicks' continued injury woes have given Randle "almost all the snaps with the first team," and he's responded with "sometimes spectacular performance." The Daily News has observed Randle getting open "even in double coverage," which is the sign of a potentially special receiver.

Thu Aug 1 201320:58Rueben Randle listed as No. 1 punt returner
Rueben Randle is listed as the No. 1 punt returner on the Giants' training camp depth chart.
He's also directly behind Hakeem Nicks at X receiver, where Randle offers breakout potential on offense. Randle averaged a respectable 7.2 yards on 15 punt returns as a rookie. It's a nugget to stash away in return-yardage leagues.

Tue Jul 30 201308:54Rueben Randle dominating at Giants camp
Rueben Randle "dominated" during Giants camp Monday.
Hakeem Nicks (groin) was limited, so Randle stepped up once again. He caught a long touchdown pass from Eli Manning and added another touchdown in red-zone drills. Randle has been drawing rave reviews from the coaching staff ever since the minicamp season and will have value as the Giants' No. 3 receiver this season. If/when Nicks misses time, Randle will be a very viable fantasy starter.

Sun Jul 28 201319:19Coughlin: Randle making 2nd-year strides
Giants coach Tom Coughlin says he's noticed a change in Rueben Randle entering his second year.
Randle also earned kudos from OC Kevin Gilbride in the spring. "His spring was better and then he came back lighter and he looks good," Coughlin said. "He seems to be more serious, more intent. He had a lot to learn in that first year and it looks like some of the messages are getting through." With Hakeem Nicks sidelined due to groin "tightness," Randle is soaking up first-team reps.

Wed Jul 24 201308:28Gilbride has more praise for Rueben Randle
OC Kevin Gilbride said Rueben Randle now looks "like a guy that has been here for five or six years."
As a rookie last season, Randle's work ethic, route-running and precision were questioned. He's answered those questions in a hurry, starring during the offseason program while Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks sat out. "His whole demeanor, his whole professionalism, was outstanding," Gilbride said. Randle will come on as the outside receiver in all three-wide sets, kicking Cruz into the slot. There's plenty of sleeper appeal here.

Fri Jun 14 201314:28Giants OC Gilbride talks up Rueben Randle
Giants OC Kevin Gilbride believes second-year WR Rueben Randle has "grown" and identified Randle as the "bellcow" of New York's receiver corps throughout spring practices.
"Not only did he grow, he kind of became the bellcow," said Gilbride. "He was first in line and ... that was not what we saw last year, not by a long shot. So to see him grow like that was a great step forward." Gilbride is promising Randle "significant" playing time even when Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz both reenter the mix. Randle has serious breakout potential this season.

Thu Jun 13 201317:08Giants OC: Randle is going to play a lot
Giants OC Kevin Gilbride says second-year WR Rueben Randle is "gonna play a lot."
"Oh, he's gonna play. He's gonna play a lot," Gilbride said. "He'll play first, second down, he'll be an outside receiver for us -- whether he's at the X or the Z, he's gonna play. He's looking like he deserves to be out there for significant time." Randle is easily ahead of Louis Murphy and Ramses Barden for No. 3 receiver duties, and he'll see plenty of action in three-wide sets. We have Randle as our No. 59 receiver, but he has a ton of upside.

Thu May 30 201318:20WR Randle taking advantage of extra reps
Giants WR Rueben Randle has shown major improvement through OTAs.
Coach Tom Coughlin referred to Randle as a guy who "has a chance to step his game up" and says "it's happening right now." Randle is seeing the majority of the starter's reps with both Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz out with contract disputes. The receiver credits the extra work this offseason with helping him understand the offense more. He's expected to fully take over No. 3 duties this season.
