Giants TE Adrien Robinson (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday night's season opener against the Cowboys.
Robinson didn't practice all week and remains without a timetable to return. He's still dealing with a foot sprain suffered in the preseason finale, but is already out of his walking boot and will avoid surgery. Bear Pascoe will serve the Giants' No. 2 tight end in Week 1.

Fri Aug 30 201314:27Giants' Adrien Robinson has sprained foot
Giants TE Adrien Robinson has been diagnosed with a sprained foot, but will avoid surgery.
Per coach Tom Coughlin, it's "not exactly" a mid-foot sprain, but Robinson is without a timetable for a return. Ostensibly, he's week to week, but Robinson might not take the field before October. The G-Men are now stuck with only Bear Pascoe behind Brandon Myers.

Giants TE Adrien Robinson injured his left foot in Thursday night's preseason finale.
Robinson was carted to the locker room early in the first half. He later left the stadium in a walking boot and on crutches. Robinson is expected to see a bump in playing time in his second season, but we'll have to wait on the diagnosis. Bear Pascoe will back up Brandon Myers while Robinson's out.

Sat Aug 3 201320:09Adrien Robinson could be redzone specialist
Giants TE coach Michael Pope expects Adrien Robinson to "absolutely" be on the field this season.
"If [he] can get the right things done, learn to read the coverage, and get in the right place then I think [Robinson] can be very effective in the scoring zone," Pope said. Robinson was active for just two games last year, but is competing with Larry Donnell for playing time behind Brandon Myers. A 2012 fourth-round pick, Robinson should serve as an in-line run blocker, and could see an expanded role as a red-zone specialist.

Thu Jun 6 201318:31Giants TE Robinson impressing in 2nd season
Giants second-year TE Adrien Robinson has been "making some good progress."
"Robinson appears to have gone to the land of believers," TEs coach Mike Pope said. Robinson is expected to take over blocking tight end duties this season. He ran a 4.57 forty at last year's Combine. With Brandon Myers on a one-year deal, Robinson is an intriguing dynasty flier. He won't be a major factor in 2013.

Fri Mar 22 201315:40G-Men envision Adrien Robinson as blocking TE
Giants GM Jerry Reese indicated that he expects second-year TE Adrien Robinson to be a blocking tight end.
Brandon Myers will be the pass catcher. Robinson, who was 6'5/269 coming out of Cincinnati, added over ten pounds during his rookie year. "The guy is 280 pounds, he ran a 4.57 at his Pro Day, and we think he can really develop into a terrific blocker," said Reese. "We're expecting him to make a jump this season and ... give us some contributions as our big blocking tight end."

Tue Mar 12 201319:41Adrien Robinson headed for bigger role?
ESPN New York suggests TE Adrien Robinson could see a significantly bigger role in 2013.
Martellus Bennett signed with the Bears on Tuesday and Bear Pascoe is a strict blocker. That leaves Robinson, a raw 2012 fourth-round pick that goes 6'5/269. GM Jerry Reese has likened his athletic ability to Jason Pierre-Paul while raving about his upside. Robinson will be a name to watch this offseason, especially if the Giants don't add any talent to their tight end room.

Thu Jan 3 201320:17Giants have 'very high hopes' for TE Robinson
Giants GM Jerry Reese says the team has "very high hopes" for 2012 fourth-round TE Adrien Robinson.
"[Robinson]'s a big, talented guy thats fast and can run and can do all the things... It's unfortunate that we weren't able to get him the suit on Sundays and get him some experience playing in the National Football League. We hope he'll continue to develop," said Reese. Robinson only "got the suit" for two games in his rookie year, but he's drawn comparisons to Giants impending free agent Martellus Bennett. Reese even called him the "[Jason Pierre-Paul] of tight ends," as a guy that shows flashes late in his college career. Robinson is currently the only New York tight end under contract for 2013. He's a guy to keep an eye on in Dynasty leagues.
