Mon Nov 19 201201:07Bryce Brown takes over on kickoff returns
Bryce Brown replaced Brandon Boykin as the Eagles' kickoff returner in Week 11.
Brown had three returns for 66 yards, which matched Boykin's average on 27 returns this season. With LeSean McCoy due to go through the NFL's concussion protocol, Brown should be high on waiver wire lists this week.

Mon Oct 1 201200:57Bryce Brown has four-carry night
Bryce Brown rushed four times for five yards in Philadelphia's Week 4 win over the Giants.
Only one of Brown's carries gained more than two yards, but he was surprisingly called on at 2nd-and-goal from the four-yard line as the Eagles looked to take a 23-17 lead with 2:00 left. He went for two yards. With 13 carries through four games, Brown is clearly LeSean McCoy's primary backup, but even after Shady got stopped on three straight carries from the one-yard line this evening, Brown is not a serious threat to McCoy's goal-line work.

Wed Sep 26 201209:18Bryce Brown officially moves ahead of Lewis
Bryce Brown is now officially listed as the backup running back on the Eagles' depth chart.
Brown's surge ahead of Dion Lewis is now etched in stone. Through three games, the seventh-round rookie has nine carries for 38 yards (4.2 YPC) and one catch for eight yards. Handcuffers should take note here.

Tue Sep 18 201208:49Bryce Brown now ahead of Lewis
Coach Andy Reid confirmed that rookie RB Bryce Brown has earned the right to move ahead of Dion Lewis on the depth chart.
Lewis was a healthy scratch while Brown rushed three times for seven yards in support of LeSean McCoy. If McCoy were to go down, the Eagles would likely turn to a committee spearheaded by Brown.

Fri Sep 14 201213:52Bryce Brown earning more playing time
Eagles OC Marty Mornhinweg said RB Bryce Brown has "earned an opportunity to play."
"As he keeps going, he may earn an opportunity to play more and more," said Mornhinweg. Although he's competing for backup snaps with Dion Lewis and Chris Polk, the Philadelphia Inquirer calls Brown a "significant player to watch" going forward. We suspect he would have the most fantasy value of the trio if LeSean McCoy misses time.

Tue Aug 28 201208:25Bryce Brown has 'edge' on Chris Polk
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Bryce Brown "appears to have the edge" on fellow rookie Chris Polk for a roster spot.
Brown has rushed 19 times for 102 yards through three preseason games, while Polk has taken the rock just 13 times for 51 yards. Brown has four catches to Polk's five, and has surprisingly held his own in pass protection. The Eagles recently discussed moving Polk to fullback, suggesting Brown has a big edge for No. 3 duties, and that Polk hasn't shown anything special as a runner.

Tue Aug 14 201220:31Competition between Polk, Brown 'too close'
The Philadelphia Inquirer believes the competition for No. 3 duties between rookie Eagles RBs Bryce Brown and Chris Polk is "too close to call."
Beat writer Jeff McLane also confirms neither player is a threat to Dion Lewis' backup job. Brown was ahead of Polk early in camp, but Polk has drawn praise for his pass-blocking prowess. Brown rolled up 33 yards on just three carries in Philadelphia's preseason debut, adding 16 yards on two catches. Polk could gain only one yard on three totes, but did add three receptions for 28 yards. Third-down play could be the deciding factor between the two.

Tue Jul 31 201200:04Bryce Brown ahead of Dion Lewis?
Rookie RB Bryce Brown "seems to be ahead" of Dion Lewis for the backup tailback job early in camp, according to SI.com's Don Banks.
Brown's pass-catching skills have been better than expected and his short-yardage prowess evident. We'd caution, however, that this report should be taken with a grain of salt. The usually reliable Birds 24/7 blog stated Sunday night that Lewis appeared to be "firmly in place" as LeSean McCoy's backup.

Thu Jul 26 201215:42Eagles RB Brown has never pass protected
Eagles rookie RB Bryce Brown concedes that he's "never" pass protected in his football career to date.
It's a major hurdle in his quest to beat out Dion Lewis for the primary backup job. "He is a heck of a talent, though," says beat writer Tim McManus, "and seems to have his head screwed on straight right now." McManus believes Brown has the edge over fellow rookie Chris Polk, who "doesn't strike me as a fit for this system."

Tue Jul 24 201208:26Eagles' backup job 'wide open'
The Philadelphia Inquirer considers the race to backup LeSean McCoy "wide open."
No. 229 pick Bryce Brown appears to be making the most headway on Dion Lewis. "He's extraordinary in that with his size, he has little-man skills," RBs coach Ted Williams said of Brown. "He's strong. I can't wait to see him in pads and see how physical he's going to be." It sounds like Brown has a significant leg up on fellow rookie Chris Polk, but he'll have to be impressive in preseason games to truly challenge Lewis.

Mon Jul 23 201211:32Bryce Brown draws praise for his speed
Eagles running backs coach Ted Williams had high praise for seventh-round RB Bryce Brown Monday.
Brown is gaining some steam as a challenger to Dion Lewis for the No. 2 gig behind LeSean McCoy. "This guy can do things other guys his size are not capable of," Williams said. "He's got speed." Brown ran a 4.48 forty at 6'0/223 and appears to be ahead of Chris Polk as training camp gets underway.

Tue Jul 17 201213:45Bryce Brown to challenge Dion Lewis for No. 2
CSN Philly expects seventh-round RB Bryce Brown to be given "every opportunity to win the No. 2 job" from Dion Lewis.
Brown impressed the coaching staff with his receiving ability in offseason practices, and beat writers noted that he outplayed the undrafted yet more ballyhooed Chris Polk. Although Lewis will enter camp as the heavy favorite, Brown has a more well-rounded game. This is a battle worth monitoring for "handcuffing" purposes.
