Mon Aug 22 201114:11Seahawks concerned about Carlson injury
According to Pro Football Weekly, the Seahawks are becoming "increasingly concerned" with TE John Carlson's shoulder injury.
The injury is to his labrum, which makes us wonder if it's a tear. He's been sidelined for over a week. Carlson's role in Seattle was dramatically reduced following the Zach Miller signing, so the team may not save his roster spot.

Wed Aug 17 201122:18John Carlson has 'labrum issue' in shoulder
Seahawks TE John Carlson has been sidelined since Saturday with a "labrum issue" in his shoulder.
Carlson isn't assured a roster spot after the coaching staff soured on him down the stretch this season, so any injury and missed time hurts. Carlson has been working as Zach Miller's backup. Cam Morrah would be a more athletic backup.

Wed Aug 3 201100:14Clayton: Seattle could move Carlson to Giants
ESPN's John Clayton suggests the Seahawks could package TE John Carlson with a draft pick for Giants DE Osi Umenyiora.
This is putting the cart before the horse. As far as we know, the Giants have turned the page on free agent Kevin Boss. "They can fit Carlson in and maybe try to work out something later with [Boss]," Clayton said. "It's just one of those options that are there." It sounds like obvious dot-connecting, though Clayton, NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora, and the New York Daily News have all connected the Seahawks to Umenyiora.

Tue Aug 2 201120:15Seahawks to use both Carlson, Miller
Offensive line coach Tom Cable made it clear Tuesday that he plans to use both Zach Miller and John Carlson at tight end.
"We now have two fantastic tight ends," Cable said. "They're going to complement each other the right way." We just don't see it. Neither player is an above-average blocker, and their receiving skill-sets are similar. Miller is simply the better player, which leaves Carlson without an offensive role. Given some time, it's a good bet Seattle will entertain offers for Carlson.

Fri Jan 21 201110:17Carlson's memory fuzzy on Sunday play
Seahawks TE John Carlson has little memory of the the play he suffered his concussion on last Sunday.
"It looked like it hurt," was his tongue-in-cheek comment about the play that required him to first be immobilized before being carted off the field. "The first thing I remember after that was being in the ambulance. I was confused at first, but the team doctor was there with me and told me right away where I was and what was going on. From then on, I was getting more and more alert." The concussion was the third of his football playing life. Coming off of a disappointing first-year under head coach Pete Carroll, he's far from a lock to be back in Seattle next season.

Sun Jan 16 201116:59Carlson, Trufant concussed, expected to be OK
Coach Pete Carroll revealed after Sunday's game that TE John Carlson and CB Marcus Trufant both sustained concussions, avoiding serious neck injuries.
Both players were immobilized, had their facemasks removed, and carted off after taking awkward hits to the head and neck area. They will spend the night in a Chicago hospital for observation but are otherwise expected to be just fine. Thankfully the two Seattle players avoided worst-case scenarios.

Sun Jan 16 201113:25Seahawks' Carlson carted off with head injury
Seahawks TE John Carlson was carted off the field early in Sunday's Divisional Round game after landing awkwardly on his head.
Carlson had his legs taken out from underneath him as he began to leap at the sideline. He landed awkwardly on his head and was lucky to avoid damage to his neck and spinal cord. Carlson had to be strapped to a board before the cart took him off the field. He was able to communicate with medical personnel, but it was a scary scene nonetheless. We'll update his condition as information becomes available. Cameron Morrah takes over at tight end for Seattle.
Sat Jan 8 201120:29Carlson catches two TD passes in Week 18
John Carlson caught three passes for 17 yards and two touchdowns in Seattle's postseason win over the Saints.
On the second of his two scores, Carlson brilliantly faked the Saints' defense by dropping to the ground for what looked like a cut block attempt, then jumping to his feet for a wide-open touchdown from seven yards out. The TDs were just Carlson's second and third of a disappointing season.
Mon Jan 3 201100:18Carlson collects just one pass
John Carlson caught just one ball for three yards in the Week 17 win over the Rams.
Carlson continues to play more of a blocking role for the Seahawks, as he was targeted just three times. He hasn't caught more than three passes in a game since Week 3 and has just 31 catches all year. Carlson will be relegated mainly to blocking duty again in Round 1 of the playoffs.
Mon Dec 13 201015:04John Carlson dropping down depth chart?
The Seahawks started Sunday's game in a two-tight end set, but John Carlson was not on the field for the first snap.
Cam Morrah and Chris Baker started. The Seahawks never announced a lineup change, but Carlson hasn't appeared to be a favorite of the Pete Carroll coaching staff all season. For Morrah and Baker's parts, the former is a more explosive pass catcher than Carlson, and the latter a superior in-line blocker.

He's expected to play at San Francisco, taking the air out of Cameron Morrah's balloon as a potential spot start. Carlson isn't an option, either.

Carlson sat out in Week 13 with his hip flexor injury and his status for Week 14 is up in the air. He's been used more as a blocker this season and has been a non-factor in fantasy leagues.

Fri Dec 3 201018:00John Carlson practices fully Friday
Seahawks TE John Carlson (hip, questionable) practiced fully on Friday.
Carlson was a late addition to the injury report Thursday when he missed practice, but he was a full-go Friday and is expected to start against the Panthers. Unfortunately, he's been a complete disaster in fantasy football.

Thu Dec 2 201019:00Carlson held out with hip injury
Seahawks TE John Carlson was held out of Thursday's practice with a hip injury.
Blocking more than ever this season, Carlson has topped 25 yards just one time in the past seven games. He's only worth rostering in Dynasty leagues at this point.

Sun Nov 21 201020:40John Carlson has another lackluster game
John Carlson was held to three catches for 14 yards in Week 11.
Used primarily as a blocker, Carlson tallied just four targets. He can be safely dropped in redraft leagues
Mon Nov 8 201011:41Carlson used as a blocker
John Carlson was used mostly as a blocker in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
This is how Carlson has gone from a young, promising tight end to a fantasy afterthought. The Seahawks' patchwork offensive line constantly needs help and Carlson is asked to stay in on passing downs. He has just nine catches in his last five games.

Sun Nov 7 201019:45Carlson has two catches for nine yards
John Carlson caught two passes for nine yards in Week 9.
He was targeted twice and remains a TE2 in fantasy leagues.
Sun Oct 31 201023:57John Carlson goes for 47 yards in loss
John Carlson caught three passes for 47 yards in the Seahawks' Week 8 win loss to the Raiders.
Carlson benefited from Mike Williams' big step back, but the tight end still only saw four targets and remains a TE2 in fantasy leagues. The Seahawks' passing game is barely effective enough to support one fantasy starter. On Sunday, it wasn't effective enough to support any.
