Sun Jan 12 201420:24Jacob Tamme held catch-less in victory
Jacob Tamme was held catch-less in Denver's Divisional Round win.
The Broncos were a three-receiver, one-back, one-tight end team ("11" personnel) in this one, with Wes Welker back healthy and Tamme rarely if ever seeing the field. Julius Thomas' primary backup at "move" tight end, Tamme is likely to be a non-factor in next week's AFC title tilt against the Patriots.

Sun Dec 29 201321:04Tamme goes for 29 yards on three catches
Jacob Tamme caught three passes for 29 yards in Week 17 against the Raiders.
Tamme was used in a rotation with Eric Decker at slot receiver to replace Wes Welker (concussion). He made a ridiculous one-handed catch in the fourth quarter that as overturned, but did little else. Tamme finishes the 2013 regular season with 20 receptions, 184 yards, and one touchdown.

Fri Dec 27 201312:12Broncos use Tamme/Decker committee in slot
The Broncos used a rotation of Jacob Tamme and Eric Decker to replace Wes Welker (concussion) at slot receiver in Week 16.
Tamme ran 30 slot routes, while Decker handled 26. Andre Caldwell stood in as Denver's Z receiver -- Decker's normal position -- and played on just 31-of-78 snaps against the Texans. It's a reminder that the Broncos have a bevy of slot options, and can play two-tight end offense whenever they feel the strategy better attacks an opponent. They close out the season against Oakland in Week 17.

Sun Dec 22 201316:32Tamme held to 22 yards in Week 16 victory
Jacob Tamme caught three balls for 22 yards in Denver's Week 16 win over the Texans.
The Broncos mixed and matched two-tight end and three-wide receiver packages as Andre Caldwell (2-12) also failed to make a big impact on the contest. If the Broncos rest Julius Thomas for Week 17 against Oakland, Tamme, Virgil Green, and Joel Dreessen would see more playing time.

Fri Dec 13 201300:46Jacob Tamme held to one catch vs. Chargers
Jacob Tamme caught one pass for nine yards in Denver's Week 15 loss to the Chargers.
As the Denver Post reported pre-game, Tamme came off the bench behind Virgil Green, though neither player ended up replacing Wes Welker in the slot. Those honors fell to Andre Caldwell, who posted a team-leading 6/59/2 line. Send Tamme back to the waiver wire for Week 16.

Thu Dec 12 201320:04Report: TE Green starting over Tamme in slot
The Denver Post reports TE Virgil Green, and not TE Jacob Tamme, will get the start in Wes Welker's (concussion) place in the slot against the Chargers.
It's a late-breaking wrench into the plans of tight end streamers. For all we know, Green will start, but the duo will rotate snaps. It was Tamme who filled in for Welker in Sunday's win over the Titans. Either way, it's enough to bump Tamme down in this week's tight end ranks, and should cause owners to reassess their plans if they're deciding between Tamme and another TE2 type. The Denver Post's Mike Klis speculates it could be Julius Thomas who mans the slot in two-TE sets.

Tue Dec 10 201309:57Jacob Tamme was slot man after Welker left
Jacob Tamme played on 45-of-46 snaps following Wes Welker's Week 14 concussion.
Not only did Tamme move into an every-down role, but he moved into an every-down slot role. We all know that's a massive job in a Peyton Manning offense, one that yielded a 4/47/0 line on five targets for Tamme in barely more than two quarters of playing time against the Titans. Rob Gronkowski owners seeking upside can make a plug-n-play ahead of Thursday's potential shootout with the Chargers. Welker is extremely doubtful.

Sun Dec 8 201319:50Jacob Tamme fills in for Welker in the slot
Jacob Tamme caught four passes for 47 yards in Sunday's Week 14 win over the Titans.
Wes Welker went down with a concussion just before halftime and never returned. The Broncos immediately turned to Tamme as their slot receiver and he responded by creating separation consistently. Considering this is Welker's second concussion in a month and the Broncos play on Thursday night in Week 15, we'd be absolutely shocked if Tamme didn't play the slot role against the Chargers. Owners in need of plug-n-play tight end help should make the add immediately.

Mon Nov 25 201302:41Tamme posts 5/57/1 line in place of Thomas
Jacob Tamme had five catches for 57 yards and a touchdown in Sunday night's Week 12 loss to the Patriots.
Tamme was used in a tight end committee with Julius Thomas (knee) sidelined and scored on a 10-yard touchdown in the second quarter. He played on all passing downs over Joel Dreessen, but was removed in running situations for Virgil Green. Tamme would be worth a look as a TE2 option if Thomas doesn't return next week. He led the Broncos in receiving and secured all five of his targets in the passing game.

Mon Aug 26 201309:45Broncos expected to keep Jacob Tamme
The Broncos are expected to keep TE Jacob Tamme on their final roster.
Denver's tight ends are expected to be the same four as last year: Joel Dreessen, Tamme, Julius Thomas, and Virgil Green. The change will be in snaps, with Thomas playing far more than he did in 2012. We still wouldn't be surprised if Tamme were available for trade ahead of final cuts. Tamme's base salary is $2.625 million, and that's exorbitant for a No. 3 tight end at best.

Wed Jun 5 201309:57Jacob Tamme not expected to catch many balls
The Denver Post doesn't expect Jacob Tamme to have many passes thrown his way this season.
The arrival of Wes Welker essentially renders Tamme and Joel Dreessen non-factors in the passing game. The Broncos will run more three-wide formations, allowing Welker to do his thing in the middle of the field. Tamme's 52/555/2 line from last year is now a distant memory.

Wed Jan 30 201323:15Tamme triggers $125K escalator for 2013
Jacob Tamme triggered an escalator in his contract, raising his 2013 salary from $2.5 million to $2.625 million.
Tamme caught 52 passes for 555 yards but just two scores in 2012 after coming over from Indianapolis with Peyton Manning. He and Joel Dreessen fought for targets all season long, and Dreessen was the main red zone beneficiary between the two. Tamme has two years left on his deal, and he'll be no more than a TE2 for fantasy purposes in 2013.

Sat Jan 12 201321:53Jacob Tamme limited to three catches vs. BAL
Jacob Tamme caught three passes for 44 yards in Denver's Divisional Round loss to the Ravens.
Tamme at one point prompted CBS' Dan Dierdorf to call him a receiver, but it was an otherwise quiet afternoon for Peyton Manning's preferred pass-catching tight end, as he drew just three targets. Tamme drew three looks or fewer in each of his final three games of the regular season, and despite the occasional six- seven-catch outburst, never really established himself as a consistent part of the Broncos' aerial attack this season. He's unlikely to rise above TE2 status in 2013.

Sun Dec 30 201220:07Jacob Tamme held to one catch vs. Chiefs
Jacob Tamme caught just one pass for 13 yards in Denver's Week 17 blowout of the Chiefs.
Tamme was targeted only three times in a game the Broncos controlled from the opening snap. Although Peyton Manning considers him a vital part of the Broncos offense, Tamme will finish 2012 with just five catches over his final four games. That doesn't take away from a solid overall line of 52/555/2, but does suggest Tamme won't be a huge part of the passing game as Manning goes for his second career Super Bowl victory.

Fri Dec 7 201209:23Tamme played just 35 percent of snaps
Jacob Tamme played just 29-of-84 plays (34.5 percent) with Brandon Stokley back in the lineup for Week 14.
It's par for the course with Tamme, whose playing time is often below 50 percent when Stokley (30 snaps) is healthy. Tamme and Joel Dreessen each ran 19 pass routes at Oakland. Consider Tamme just a low-end TE2 the rest of the way.

Fri Dec 7 201200:54Tamme reels in just two passes in TNF win
Jacob Tamme caught just two passes for 24 yards in Week 14 versus the Raiders.
Tamme entered the day as a top-ten fantasy play at tight end due to the uncertainty surrounding Brandon Stokley, but with Stokley active all that intrigue dissipated. Fellow tight end Joel Dreessen out-produced Tamme and even received Peyton Manning's lone touchdown pass. Tamme shouldn't approach his 13-target Week 13 output again this season.

Sun Dec 2 201219:49Tamme hauls in 9 passes for 89 yards
Jacob Tamme hauled in nine passes for 89 yards versus the Bucs in Week 13.
Tamme was the primary beneficiary of Brandon Stokley's absence, as the Broncos run two tight-end sets on all three of their touchdown drives. Tamme was targeted a team-high 13 times compared to Joel Dreessen's two looks. Having topped 45 yards in three straight games, Tamme is on pace for a 63/599/3 stat line heading into Week 14 at Oakland.

Sun Nov 25 201217:13Tamme has a 4/48/1 afternoon in win
Jacob Tamme caught four passes for 48 yards and a touchdown in Denver's Week 12 win over the Chiefs.
Tamme's seven targets were his most since Week 5, while the touchdown was his first since Week 1. Averaging 3.5 catches, Tamme is a plug-and-play option if you ever run into injury issues at tight end, but isn't somebody you want to be relying on weekly.

Sun Nov 18 201220:45Tamme held to 53 yards on 4 receptions
Jacob Tamme caught four passes for 53 yards in the Broncos' Week 11 win over the Chargers.
He was targeted five times. This was actually Tamme's yardage high on the season, which says a lot about his bust of a fantasy football campaign. Tamme hasn't found pay dirt since the opener and belongs on fantasy waiver wires.

Sun Nov 11 201218:34Tamme held to six yards in Week 10
Jacob Tamme managed just one catch for six yards at Carolina in Week 10.
Tamme's four targets were tied with Eric Decker for fourth-most on the team. Joel Dreessen had two catches for 31 yards on three targets while run-blocker Virgil Green didn't see a single pass thrown his way. Tamme has reached 50 yards just once this season, and his role has been shrinking over the past month. He's eminently droppable in 12- and 14-team leagues.
