Fri Nov 15 201316:10Nate Burleson is listed as doubtful
Nate Burleson (arm) is listed as doubtful for Week 11.
The doubtful tag is an upgrade from last week, when Burleson was listed as out. The veteran slot man is tentatively expected to return in Week 12. We've noticed Burleson on a lot of fantasy football waiver wires recently. Receiver-needy owners in 12- and 14-team PPR leagues should scoop him up now.

Wed Nov 13 201321:06Nate Burleson on return: No need to rush back
Nate Burleson indicated the Lions' success gives him less of a reason to rush back from his broken arm.
Burleson has been cleared to run routes and absorb some contact, but it's sounding like a Week 12 return is more likely for Detroit's veteran slot man. "I still have to listen to the doctors," he said. "If the season was different and there was a sense of urgency of guys needing to be out there, I'd take a pain pill and say, 'Let's do it.' ... (But) the way the team is playing there is an ease in my spirit that I don't have to rush it."

Sun Nov 10 201311:35Burleson, Leshoure headline Lions inactives
The Lions declared WR Nate Burleson (arm), Mikel Leshoure, DE Ziggy Ansah (ankle), CB Dwight Bentley (knee), T Corey Hilliard (knee), G Leroy Harris, and QB Kellen Moore inactive for Week 10 against the Bears.
Burleson seems to be targeting a Week 11 return. He's been catching passes in practice for a couple weeks now but is taking it slow so that he doesn't experience a Rob Gronkowksi-like re-break. Ansah's loss is the biggest.

Thu Nov 7 201309:04Nate Burleson bench presses for first time
Nate Burleson did bench presses Wednesday for the first time since breaking his arm.
Burleson is catching passes in practice and appears to be nearing full strength. But he isn't expected to play this week as he doesn't want to pull a Rob Gronkowski with his forearm. "I think the biggest thing is falling on it," Burleson said. "That's what the doctors keep telling me. It's good that I can catch the ball. Now it's learning how to, I guess, take hits and hit the ground with the ball in my hand." We'd give Burleson an outside shot at returning as the Lions' No. 2 wideout in Week 11.

Wed Nov 6 201309:02Nate Burleson takes a jab at RG3
When asked about his timetable, Nate Burleson (arm) said he's "not going to sit here and pull an RG3."
Burleson returned to practice Tuesday but is not expected to play in Sunday's game against the Bears. "I'm not going to sit here and pull an RG3 and talk over what is common sense and that's listen to my coaches and listen to the doctors," he said. "I want to play and that's just me being a competitor. That doesn't mean that my arm is ready to be out there for 60 minutes." Burleson's injury is similar to the one Rob Gronkowski sustained -- and then re-fractured -- last season.

Wed Oct 2 201309:19Nate Burleson says he'll be back early
Nate Burleson (broken arm) says he's ahead of schedule in his recovery.
The Lions are extremely tight-lipped about injuries, so we never heard an official timetable on Burleson. Media speculation hovered around 6-8 weeks from the time of his Sept. 24 car accident. "I've gotten some good news, but I'm not going to speak about that," Burleson said. "I don't want to get yelled at by Coach (Jim) Schwartz, but what was told to me is that what it typically takes to get back, I'll be back sooner than that. So I'll let you all do your research and figure that out." It sounds like Burleson thinks he'll be back shortly after the Week 9 bye.
