Fri Sep 17 201021:42Michael Jenkins ruled out for Week 2
Michael Jenkins (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 2.
Fill-in starter Harry Douglas caught just three passes for 39 yards in the opener, showing a relatively weak rapport with Matt Ryan. Douglas isn't a fantasy option. Roddy White is the heavy favorite targets in Atlanta.
Thu Sep 16 201017:09Jenkins misses pratice again Thursday
Michael Jenkins (shoulder) missed practice again on Thursday.
There was some hope that Jenkins would return this week, but he's not going to play against the Cardinals. Expect Harry Douglas to draw the start again, though he's a week fantasy option.

Wed Sep 15 201020:46Michael Jenkins misses practice
Falcons WR Michael Jenkins (shoulder) missed practice on Wednesday.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that Jenkins "could be ready to play against Arizona," but it's hard to imagine if he can't practice. Harry Douglas started in Jenkins' place against Pittsburgh last Sunday, grabbing three balls for 39 yards. Expect Douglas to again get the nod in Week 2.

Michael Jenkins (shoulder) missed Falcons practice Wednesday.
Jenkins isn't going to play against the Steelers, giving Brian Finneran the starting nod. Finneran's upside is probably around four grabs for 60 yards.

Wed Sep 1 201009:28Jenkins still listed as No. 2 WR
Michael Jenkins (shoulder) is still listed as the starter opposite Roddy White on the Falcons' latest depth chart.
Harry Douglas, who caught four passes for 41 yards last week, is listed directly behind White. When all three are healthy, the blocking Jenkins will likely start out wide while Douglas mans the slot. Note that Brian Finneran started in place of Jenkins in the third preseason game and predictably caught just one ball for five yards. Douglas remains the secondary receiver in Atlanta to take a flier on.

Tue Aug 10 201013:05Falcons don't expect Jenkins back by Week 1?
Matt Ryan indicated Tuesday that the Falcons don't necessarily expect Michael Jenkins (shoulder) back for Week 1.
"From my understanding, he'll be back and ready to go at some point early in the season," said Ryan. The preseason depth chart lists sluggish veteran Brian Finneran directly behind Jenkins, so it appears Finneran is the favorite to start at split end should Jenkins miss regular season time. Rookie Kerry Meier would work as the No. 4 receiver, also behind Harry Douglas.

Mon Aug 9 201011:50Jenkins won't need surgery on shoulder
Contrary to previous speculation, Michael Jenkins will not need surgery to repair the shoulder injury sustained in Friday night's scrimmage.
Coach Mike Smith wouldn't provide details on the injury, stating only that it occurred when Jenkins landed awkwardly on the shoulder. Rest and rehabilitation will heal the injury, and the timetable remains at 4-6 weeks. The Falcons seem to prefer Harry Douglas in the slot, so surprising rookie Kerry Meier should start seeing some first-team reps opposite Roddy White.

Sun Aug 8 201021:24Report: Falcons WR Jenkins is out 4-6 weeks
Zach Klein of WSB-TV Atlanta reports that Michael Jenkins is out 4-6 weeks with an injured left shoulder.
It sounds like the shoulder is at least dislocated, though we'd caution that Klein isn't ordinarily one to break major news. If Klein's report is correct, the Falcons may have a hard time getting their best blocking receiver healthy for Opening Day. It could be the opportunity Harry Douglas needs to win a starting job. Douglas offers far more playmaking ability than Jenkins.

Sat Aug 7 201008:56WR Jenkins tweaks shoulder, extent unknown
The Associated Press reports that WR Michael Jenkins suffered a shoulder injury in Friday night's practice. The extent is unknown, but test results should be available shortly.
Jenkins fell hard to the ground after a Matt Ryan incompletion. Having scored only one touchdown in 2009, the starting flanker is valued more for his superior run blocking, while slot WR Harry Douglas is viewed as more of an asset in fantasy circles.

Mon Aug 2 201017:55Michael Jenkins to keep starting job
Falcons coach Mike Smith indicated that Michael Jenkins is in no danger of losing his starting job to Harry Douglas.
Harry Douglas is considered locked into the No. 3 role. The Falcons value Jenkins' blocking, but he lacks big-play ability and set a career low with one touchdown in '09. Douglas could outproduce him despite being a "backup."

Fri Jul 2 201008:57Jenkins projected as starter
Beat writer Orlando D. Ledbetter projects Michael Jenkins as the Falcons' starting split end.
No surprise here, as Harry Douglas is coming off ACL surgery and the Falcons love what Jenkins does as a blocker. Still, Jenkins provides little playmaking ability as a receiver and Douglas could eat into his snaps as the season goes on.
