Sat Aug 27 202208:24Padres Promote Luis Campusano
The San Diego Padres recalled catcher prospect Luis Campusano on Friday. The move comes with catcher Jorge Alfaro (knee) being placed on the 10-day injured list. Campusano is one of the top catcher prospects in the game, but has struggled in his short stints at the big-league level. The 23-year-old had a cup of coffee with the Padres earlier this season and was 1-for-12 at the plate. In his career at the big-league level, he is 5-for-49 with a homer. Despite those struggles, he has raked for Triple-A El Paso with a .298 batting average to go along with 14 homers and 60 RBI, so managers shouldn't be so quick to write him off based on his previous struggles. With catcher Austin Nola likely to see at least half or more of the starts behind the dish, Campusano will have to really impress in the playing time he is given to make an impact the rest of the season in redraft leagues. For now, his best value is in dynasty leagues.

Sun Jul 31 202211:38Luis Campusano Hits Eighth Homer In Triple-A
San Diego Padres catcher Luis Campusano went 2-for-4 and hit his eighth homer of the season for Triple-A El Paso on Friday. Campusano is now hitting .302 and has also driven in 36 RBI. The 23-year-old is one of the top catching prospects in the game and has gotten a couple cups of coffee in the big leagues, but he hasn't done much in that limited opportunity. A prime trade candidate for the aggressive Padres front office, managers should keep an eye on Campusano to see weather or not he remains with San Diego or is dealt. Campusano remains a better option in dynasty leagues, but could be an intriguing in redraft leagues, if he is dealt and given an opportunity. Campusano remains a prospect for managers to keep an eye on with the trade deadline approaching on August 2.

Fri May 13 202209:13Luis Campusano Continues To Hit At Triple-A
San Diego Padres catcher prospect Luis Campusano continued his impressive season for Triple-A El Paso on Thursday by going 2-for-5 with two runs and a pair of RBI. One of the best catcher prospects in the game, Campusano is hitting a sizzling .368 with two home runs and seven RBI. The 23-year-old has had a cup of coffee at the big-league level over the past few seasons, including 2022, but he has struggled in limited action at the dish with a .102 batting average and one home run in 49 career at-bats. With catchers Austin Nola and Jorge Alfaro entrenched at the big-league level, it's possible that Campusano could become trade bait for the competitive Padres this year. For now, Campusano's best value comes in dynasty leagues.
