Wojciechowski will compete for the fifth spot in the Astros' starting rotation this spring, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. |
Wojciechowski, who missed all of last year's camp with a strained lat muscle, is healthy entering 2015 and will compete with Dan Straily, Roberto Hernandez, Brad Peacock (hip), Alex White, Jake Buchanan and Samuel Deduno for the final spot in Houston's starting rotation. The 26-year-old right-hander appeared in 15 games (14 starts) at Triple-A last season, going 4-4 with a 4.74 ERA. "It's nothing too severe in his forearm," general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "Because he's coming off of the other injury and wasn't feeling 100 percent right we had a doctor look at him. We don't think that there's any real issue, but he's not going to throw in a game for the next two weeks. He's going to go to Florida and rehab and throw right there." |
