Wed Aug 7 201316:23MIA focus on Oden rehab now, basketball later
Pat Riley said the Heat are focusing on Greg Oden's knee rehab and "will tackle basketball issues after that."
Oden reportedly looked good during his individual workouts in Indianapolis, but there's a long way from that to playing in an NBA game. Oden even said after signing with the Heat that he wasn't sure when he'd be able to play in an NBA game. The Heat are going to be as deliberate and careful with the former No. 1 overall pick, which is just further proof that you can avoid him on draft day. Time will tell if Oden has anything left.

Sat Aug 3 201319:16Greg Oden's weight down to 'low 270s'
Greg Oden has his weight down to the "low 270s," according to Chris Mannix of SI.com.
He's back near his playing weight after being nearly 20 pounds heavier in 2010. The Heat signed Oden as a low-risk bet that he might contribute late in the season, and there's no reason to consider him on draft day. He has per-36-minute averages of 15.3 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in his brief NBA career, though that's nearly irrelevant since he's played 36+ minutes just twice since entering the league.

Sat Aug 3 201309:18Greg Oden not sure when he'll play in games
Greg Oden said he's not sure when he'll be able to play in an actual game.
Oden said he chose the Heat over several other teams in part because they understood his need to be diligent with his recovery. According to Oden, it was "big deciding factor" that the Heat said he wouldn't be needed much early in the season. "When I had a conversation with Coach [Erik] Spoelstra and hearing how much he knew about the training stuff that I was already doing, it kind of made me feel like they know what's best for me," Oden said. "I'm not going to sit here and say I'm 100 percent. I am moving [well] and I am feeling good, but I have a lot of work to do." Time will tell if the former No. 1 overall pick can stay healthy.

Fri Aug 2 201320:49Greg Oden agrees to two-year deal with Miami
Greg Oden agreed to a two-year deal at the minimum with the Miami Heat.
Miami has been the favorite all along and with money not being a factor for Oden after his career has been full of injuries, he'll have a chance to compete for a championship in his first year back. The Heat also haven't had a real center in quite some time, so there is a chance he could get his fair share of minutes with the team. Oden is unlikely to be very active during the offseason and he'll be targeting training camp to show what he can do. He'll be an extremely risky pick in fantasy leagues and owners may want someone else to deal with him this season.

Fri Aug 2 201318:28Greg Oden decision is expected Friday night
Free agent Greg Oden still plans to announce his decision Friday night.
There's been a lot of unsubstantiated rumors that Oden has already chosen to sign with the Heat. There's no evidence that's true. The Mavs and Spurs are also considered front-runners, while the Hawks, Pelicans and Kings haven't been ruled out. Oden's agent reiterated to FOX's Chris Tomasson that his client's announcement will come at some point Friday night.

Thu Aug 1 201311:56Greg Oden decision to come on Friday
Updating a previous item, Greg Oden will decide on his new NBA team on Friday.
The Heat, Kings, Hawks, Pelicans, Spurs and Mavs are believed to be the possible destinations. It's been a never-ending story, but since money isn't too big of a factor for Oden, it does make sense for him to exhaust all of his options and do his due diligence. He has a lot of talent, but his fragility makes him a risky pickup for NBA and fantasy teams alike.

Wed Jul 31 201316:18Greg Oden's decision expected this weekend
Greg Oden's decision on where to play next season will likely come this weekend, his agent, Mike Conley, Sr., said Tuesday.
Oden was expected to pick a team early this week, but Conley said he hasn't received any formal offers from any of the six interested teams. He also wouldn't say if an offer of the veteran's minimum would be enough to land the former No. 1 overall pick. Oden has reportedly looked good in solo workouts of late, but it remains to be seen if his body will hold up. The Heat, Pelicans, Kings, Spurs, Hawks and Mavs are targeting Oden.

Sun Jul 28 201313:16Report: Greg Oden looks lean, moving well
Greg Oden looks "quite lean [and] is moving quite well," according to sources who saw his workouts this week.
It's one thing to look good in a solo workout, of course, and quite another to withstand the rigors of an NBA season. Six teams are known to be interested in him (the Heat, Pelicans, Kings, Spurs, Hawks and Mavericks) and Oden is expected to pick a team as soon as Monday.

Sat Jul 27 201309:31Greg Oden could sign w/ NBA team by Monday
Greg Oden could sign an NBA contract as early as Monday, as he chooses between the Heat, Pelicans, Kings, Spurs, Hawks and Mavericks.
"There might be less pressure if he tries this with a team that's rebuilding," said his agent, Bill Duffy. "Then again, the quality of the medical staff will matter. Maybe a winning team has chemistry that's good or his role would be clearly defined." That brilliantly non-committal agent-speak could make a case for any of the six teams in contention for Oden, but we won't have to wait long to learn which one he chooses.

Thu Jul 25 201316:28Report: Hawks, Spurs, Pelicans watch Oden
The Spurs, Hawks and Pelicans had reps at Greg Oden's latest workout in Indianapolis on Thursday, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Oden will reportedly decide which team he'll sign with sometime within the next week. In addition to the three teams at his latest workout, the Mavs, Kings and Heat are also interested in the former No. 1 overall pick. The Hawks would likely represent the most immediate playing time for Oden, but the other teams could give him the chance to work his way back into the NBA slowly. Of course, this is all assuming his knees hold up through training camp, let alone an NBA season. Stay tuned.

Tue Jul 23 201323:38Greg Oden decision coming in the next week
Free agent Greg Oden will reportedly decide what team he'll play for this season some time within in the next week, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Or should we say "attempt" to play for? Oden's well documented injury history is one of the more disappointing sports stories in recent years, as his legs and knees simply haven't been able to hold up in the NBA. He hasn't played since 2009 and is looking at joining the Heat, Kings, Hawks, Pelicans, Spurs and Mavericks, but will have to pass a physical before signing a deal. Oden worked out in Indianapolis on Tuesday and reportedly looked good, but even if he comes into the season fully healthy, he'll be a very risky player to look at before the later rounds of fantasy drafts. Having said that, the Hawks could really use a true center like Oden, if he's actually ready to play.

Tue Jul 23 201317:17Greg Oden to make decision next week
Free agent Greg Oden is expected to make a decision next week.
Oden is choosing between the Heat, Spurs, Kings, Hawks, Hornets and Mavericks. Miami and San Antonio are reportedly the co-favorites. Oden hasn't played in an NBA game since December of 2009.

Mon Jul 22 201315:09Heat, Spurs 'co-favorites' to sign Greg Oden
Greg Oden will workout for the Heat, Pelicans and Kings this week, and the Spurs and Mavericks also remain in contention to sign him.
The Mavs still want him despite recently signing Samuel Dalembert, and the Pelicans are trying to sell him on the notion of a low-pressure comeback out of the media spotlight, but ESPN.com refers to Miami and San Antonio as the "co-favorites" at the moment. The Kings, on the other hand, are described as a "longshot."

Sat Jul 20 201312:56Report: Pelicans to meet with Oden next week
The Pelicans are expected to meet with Greg Oden next week in Indianapolis, league sources told John Reid of The Times Picayune.
The Pelicans were reportedly considering offering Oden a two-year deal worth over $3 million annually. Reid says they haven't officially offered him anything, but the Pelicans are definitely interested in the former No. 1 overall pick. Oden is also drawing serious interest from the Mavs and Heat, but the Pelicans might be his best option financially. Stay tuned.

Thu Jul 18 201317:50Report: Pelicans mull multiyear deal for Oden
The Pelicans are considering offering Greg Oden a multiyear deal worth over $3 million annually, sources close to the situation told HoopsWorld.
Yahoo! Sports reported Wednesday that New Orleans was considering an offer of roughly $3 million, but we assumed it was for one year. We find it hard to believe an NBA team would be willing to fully guarantee up to $7 million over two seasons for a player who hasn't been on the court since the 2009-10 season. The Heat and Mavs are also interested in signing Oden.

Wed Jul 17 201314:28Report: Pelicans to offer Oden $3M for '13-14
The Pelicans are "poised" to offer free agent Greg Oden a salary of roughly $3 million for the 2013-14 season, sources told Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears.
The Pelicans are expected to meet with Oden and his reps next week, although Oden's not expected to sign anywhere for a few more weeks. The Heat have been in on the former No. 1 overall pick for a while and recently used their amnesty provision on Mike Miller, which gives them much more financial wiggle room. It's unclear what Oden is looking for, but a $3 million salary for next season would be roughly half of what Andrew Bynum got from Cleveland.

Tue Jul 16 201317:09Greg Oden's agent resumes talks with the Heat
Greg Oden's agent said he's resumed dealings with Heat president Pat Riley and team camp expert Andy Elisburg.
By using the amnesty provision on Mike Miller, the Heat could be able to able to squeeze Oden into their salary cap situation a little easier. They could certainly use his size. Oden is also expected to talk with the Spurs, Kings, Mavs and Pelicans. A signing is not expected for a few weeks as teams go through the lengthy medical records.

Tue Jul 16 201308:38Pelicans become contenders for Greg Oden
The Pelicans will have a sitdown with Greg Oden on Wednesday and will get serious consideration in signing the unrestricted free agent.
The Heat and Spurs are still the favorites to bring on the former top pick in the draft. New Orleans is having a productive offseason to date and adding Oden would be another win -- despite his lengthy medical chart. Monty Williams was an assistant for the Blazers back when Oden was active, which figures to be a positive in the Pelicans' pursuit. The former Buckeye is expected to take his time to make a decision and the Mavericks are also in the mix with the aforementioned teams.

Mon Jul 15 201308:25Greg Oden will meet with teams in Las Vegas
Greg Oden will be in Las Vegas this week and have face-to-face meetings the Mavericks, Kings and Pelicans.
The Mavericks have been rumored to be after Oden for the longest time and with the Devin Harris contract no longer on their books, they'll have a little more room financially. He will meet with them on Monday. Oden also has received reported interest from the Heat and Spurs.

Fri Jul 12 201315:03Oden's agent expects new talks with Heat soon
Greg Oden's agent expects to resume talks with Heat president Pat Riley soon.
The Cavs are out of the running, leaving the Heat and Spurs as the expected finalists for Oden's services. Oden's agent, Mike Conley, Sr., says he has a better idea of what the Heat can afford after signing Chris Andersen earlier this week. Conley wouldn't speculate on what it would take to sign Oden. We can't imagine it'll be much considering Andrew Bynum only got $6 million guaranteed from Cleveland and Bynum has proven far more than Oden has in both of their injury-plagued careers.
