Sun Mar 2 201423:13Elton Brand plays 31 minutes in up-tempo loss
Elton Brand notched 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks in 31 minutes on Sunday, as the Hawks fell 120-129 in Phoenix.
In the process he tied Elvin Hayes for No. 21 on the all-time blocks list, having swatted 1,771 shots in his career. A fast-paced game like Sunday doesn't play to Brand's strengths, to say the least, and it's a credit to the veteran that he's been effective in huge minutes as the short-handed Hawks limp to the finish line. EB has been a solid fantasy option for the past 10 days but his value will take a hit with Pero Antic (ankle) on the verge of a return.

Wed Feb 26 201422:15Elton Brand stays hot in Hawks loss
Elton Brand played 34 minutes and had 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists, a steal and five blocks in Wednesday's loss to the Celtics.
His minutes have been through the roof and he's been playing well for the struggling Hawks. Paul Millsap, Pero Antic and Gustavo Ayon are eventually going to return and give him a breather, but Brand may have carved out enough minutes to be relevant even when some of those guys are back.

Tue Feb 25 201422:36Elton Brand steps up in team-high 42 minutes
Elton Brand played a team-high 42 minutes on Tuesday, notching seven points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in a losing effort.
The Hawks played small-ball from start to finish tonight, thanks to the absence of Gustavo Ayon (shoulder), Pero Antic (ankle) and Paul Millsap (knee). It's great to see the veteran Brand succeeding in huge minutes, and he's a borderline fantasy option until the Hawks get some healthy bodies in their frontcourt.

Wed Feb 19 201422:20Elton Brand goes for 20 & 11 in start
Elton Brand started at center Wednesday and had 20 points, 11 rebounds, a steal and zero blocks in a loss to the Wizards.
Brand played 30 minutes on Tuesday and 35 minutes tonight, meaning he could be ready for a rest at some point soon. However, with Gustavo Ayon, Pero Antic, DeMarre Carroll and Al Horford all hurt, he simply can't afford to take a night off. And really, his whole team could use a break, as the Hawks have now dropped seven straight games. Brand is averaging 10.0 points and 7.8 rebounds in 26 minutes over his last five games, but hasn't blocked a shot in three straight. But with so many bigs hurting for the Hawks, Brand deserves a look by anyone in need of a fantasy big man.

Wed Feb 19 201418:05Elton Brand is indeed starting on Wednesday
Elton Brand will start at center against the Wizards on Wednesday.
He started the second half on Tuesday night due to the injury of Gustavo Ayon, so this was an expected move. Brand played well and has a chance at a double-double tonight, but the Hawks might be careful with their 34-year-old veteran. He's worth a look as a risky, high-upside spot start.

Tue Feb 18 201421:59Elton Brand could see bigger role for Hawks
Elton Brand played 30 minutes and had eight points, eight rebounds and a steal in Tuesday's loss.
Gustavo Ayon left early with a shoulder injury and DeMarre Carroll sounds doubtful for Wednesday with a hamstring injury. And that means that Brand and Mike Scott are the only bigs available for the Hawks. If you want to spot-start Brand in a daily league on Wednesday, it makes sense.

Tue Feb 11 201422:56Elton Brand goes for 8 & 8 in loss
Elton Brand came off the bench for eight points, eight rebounds and a block in 26 minutes on Tuesday.
Gustavo Ayon started and had four points, eight rebounds, three steals and a block in just 19 minutes, but has been pretty unreliable. With Mike Scott cooling down (8 points, 18 minutes), Brand is still worth keeping a close eye on after averaging 8.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over his last five.

Sat Feb 8 201422:39Elton Brand goes for 9-7-2 in loss
Elton Brand came off the bench for nine points, seven rebounds and two blocks in 23 minutes in Saturday's loss.
Mike Scott never got it going tonight and Brand had just four points and six rebounds in his previous game. However, he's worth keeping an eye on, as Brand is still averaging 10.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks over his last five games.

Tue Feb 4 201422:53Elton Brand turns back clock for Hawks
Elton Brand hit 6-of-8 shots for 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in 21 minutes off the bench on Tuesday.
He was probably the best Hawks player tonight and we're not quite sure why he's not starting over Gustavo Ayon as they await the return of Pero Antic. Before you get too excited and pick Brand up, take a look at his game log. he's scored 12, 8, 18, 0 and 10 points in each of his last five games, and will have a hard time being consistent as long as he's coming off the bench. But if you're in a deep league and need some boards, blocks and potential scoring, give him a look.

Fri Jan 31 201423:43Brand out of nowhere for 18 and 8 vs. PHI
Elton Brand came out of nowhere to put up 18 points and eight rebounds against his old Sixers team on Friday.
Brand hit 8-of-12 shots and this is the first time we've blurbed him since January 8. Let's see him make some noise again before paying him much attention.

Wed Jan 8 201422:45Elton Brand plays well in 20 minutes
Elton Brand hit 3-of-5 shots for eight points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 20 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.
Brand played 30 minutes on Tuesday and had 10 points, seven boards and three blocks, and it's officially time to put him on the fantasy radar as he continues to have a role for the short-handed Hawks.

Mon Jan 6 201422:41Elton Brand plays season-high 30 minutes
Elton Brand played a season-high 30 minutes against the Nets on Monday, scoring 10 points with seven boards and three blocks.
It was easily his best game of the season and he was the first big man off the bench. Brand did not play more than 20 minutes in a game before tonight and that 20-minute outing had a lot to do with garbage time. The Hawks have some work to do up front, so Brand is only worth a look in deep leagues. His 34-year-old frame also makes him an injury risk.

Tue Dec 31 201316:10Elton Brand starts at center without results
Elton Brand had four points and one rebound during 12 minutes of action on Tuesday.
He remains the Hawks' starting center but it's a hollow title since he's averaging 15 minutes per game in the role. Pero Antic had five points and five rebounds in 22 minutes while Gustavo Ayon went scoreless in seven minutes, and it's no surprise that the Hawks are reportedly looking for ways to improve their depth and talent in the wake of Al Horford's pectoral injury.

Tue Dec 31 201312:17Elton Brand to start against Celtics on Tues
Elton Brand will again be in the starting lineup when the Hawks face the Celtics on Tuesday.
Brand has seen an increase in playing time since Al Horford got injured, but hasn't done much with it as he's only averaged 3.3 points and 2.67 rebounds in his 14.3 minutes per game over his last three contests. Unless Brand somehow sees his minutes drastically jump to 25-30 per game, he's not worth owning in anything but the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Sun Dec 29 201321:03Elton Brand invisible in second start at C
Elton Brand started at center again on Sunday but only had seven points and two rebounds in 14 minutes.
Pero Antic played 20 minutes off the bench, Mike Scott played 17 minutes and Gustavo Ayon barely saw the court. This situation has 'platoon' written all over it, and fantasy owners should hedge their bets unless one of Atlanta's big men steps into a 30-minute role.

Sat Dec 28 201323:38Elton Brand quiet in start for Hawks
Elton Brand started for the Hawks on Saturday but hit just 1-of-4 shots for three points and four rebounds in 19 minutes.
Mike Scott got hot off the bench and Pero Antic played 22 minutes in the win. Brand could still end up holding some value with Al Horford out indefinitely with a shoulder injury, but after this game, we'd rather be holding Scott instead of Brand. Scott had

Sat Dec 28 201311:58Elton Brand to start for Hawks
Elton Brand will start at center for the Hawks.
Brand gets the starting nod over Mike Scott, Pero Antic, Gustavo Ayon in place of the injured Al Horford, although there is no telling how long it will last. Brand was averaging just 12.9 minutes per game in December. He is worth picking up as a flyer in deep leagues, in shallower leagues we recommend waiting and seeing how he plays. Ayon will likely still see an increase in minutes as well.

Thu Dec 26 201323:07Elton Brand still plays just 10 minutes
Elton Brand played 10 minutes against the Cavs on Thursday, failing to score with two rebounds and one block.
His minutes have been interesting to monitor since the preseason. Back on Oct. 8, he kicked off the month with a surprising 30 minutes played, but in the regular season he's played at least 20 minutes once during the regular season. The 34-year-old big man is playing only 11.4 minutes per game this year, so it would be hard to imagine the Hawks pushing him over a 21.2 minutes-per-game threshold -- his average with the Mavs last year. Only owners in very deep leagues should be looking to add Brand.

Tue Oct 22 201321:59Elton Brand plays well in start for Hawks
Elton Brand had 11 points, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks in Tuesday's win over the Pacers.
Brand has been a blocking machine this preseason and is entrenched into a solid bench role for the Hawks. He's no longer a top fantasy big man, but when you need some blocks late in your draft, he is someone who should be able to help.

Tue Oct 8 201322:52Elton Brand gets 30 minutes, has seven blocks
Elton Brand blocked seven shots in 30 minutes against the Bobcats on Tuesday, adding four points, eight boards and one steal.
He played just 21.2 minutes per game last season, so the uptick in minutes tonight is a surprise. The blocks were even a bigger surprise, but the Bobcats did lead the NBA in blocks allowed per game at 6.9. The acquistion of Brand in the offseason looks to be an important piece for the Hawks with Gustavo Ayon (shoulder) out for a while. If you miss the boat on big men in your draft, there are worse options to take than Brand in deeper formats.
