Sat Nov 19 201116:43Cuban not interested in Braves
Mark Cuban isn't interested in buying the Braves should they be put for sale, he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an email Saturday.
"I like franchises that need a lot of help," Cuban wrote. "The Braves have a great franchise." There's been much speculation that Liberty Media will put the Braves up for sale at some point within the next year or two, and Cuban is obviously interested in buying a baseball team. Still, there's no reason to doubt his word here.

Thu Nov 17 201118:58MLB's owners, players reach new labor deal
According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, a new labor agreement has been officially agreed upon.
Full details of the new CBA will be announced Monday. The expectation is that hard slotting for the amateur draft will not be implemented, but that some form of an overall draft spending cap might be enforced on teams beginning next June. There will also be significant changes to free agent compensation, with some reports saying that Type B statuses could be completely thrown out. We'll have to wait until Monday to sort it all out.

Sat Oct 22 201114:28Braves hire two hitting coaches
Former White Sox hitting coach Greg Walker was hired by the Braves on Friday to replace the recently-fired Larry Parrish.
Walker resigned from his position after eight-plus seasons with Chicago, where he drew criticism for the regression of Gordon Beckham and Adam Dunn. Since becoming their hitting coach in 2003, the White Sox have ranked third in the majors in home runs (1,791) and seventh in slugging percentage (.430). Ex-Rockies infield coordinator Scott Fletcher will serve as both an advance scout and assistant to Walker.

Thu Sep 29 201109:13Chipper Jones has no plans to retire
Chipper Jones reiterated following Wednesday's game that he has no intention to retire.
"No. I've committed to playing next year," said Jones, who will make $14 million in 2012 in the final guaranteed year of a three-year, $42 million contract. I won't commit past that; let's put it that way. I'm looking forward to it. As tough a pill as it is to swallow, for a lot of these young guys it's a learning experience. We got our butts kicked for the last couple of weeks of the season and they're going to learn a lot from it and be better ballplayers for it." Jones missed time for surgery on his left knee, as well as his normal variety of bumps and bruises, but was productive when on the field, batting .275/.344/.470 with 18 home runs, 70 RBI and an .814 OPS over 512 plate appearances. However, it will once again be difficult to trust him in most mixed leagues.

Another impressive feat for the surging veteran, who has battled back since enduring a mid-season lull. He has been one of baseball's hottest hitter since July 1, batting 33-for-91 (.363) with seven homers. In fact, Jones has hit safely in 20 of the 24 games he's started during that span.

Thu Sep 8 201114:03Chipper batting second Thursday vs. Mets
Chipper Jones will bat second in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday against the Mets.
This is just his fifth career start out of the No. 2 spot and his first since 1996. That's right. The Braves have a lousy .230/.285/.360 batting line out of the second spot in the order this season, so it's worth a shot.
