Sat Jul 27 201323:24Joel Freeland skips Eurobasket tournament
Joel Freeland will not play for Great Britain's national team during the EuroBasket tournament in September due to "NBA commitments."
Freeland recently recovered from a sore left Achilles and it sounds like he just wants to focus on earning a bigger role in his second NBA season. With Luol Deng out due to the scary illness that afflicted him in May, Great Britain isn't likely to fare well against their Group A competition -- France, Germany, Israel, Ukraine and Belgium.

Fri Jul 19 201322:38Freeland dealing with sore left Achilles
Joel Freeland is dealing with a sore left Achilles' tendon, though an MRI came back negative on Friday.
Freeland did not play on Friday and the injury is reportedly not serious. With Achilles' injuries having some potential to drag on and on, you can stick this injury in his file and move along.

Thu Apr 18 201316:03Joel Freeland doesn't think he needs surgery
Joel Freeland says he doesn't believe the torn ligament in his finger will require surgery
Freeland tore a ligament in his right index finger in late March but played through the injury. Freeland's rookie season was a pretty big disappointment, but the 26-year-old British import has potential if given minutes. Freeland averaged just 9.4 minutes this season but could see that number rise next year if he remains healthy and J.J. Hickson departs in free agency.

Wed Apr 17 201301:30Joel Freeland scores 13 in loss to Clips
Joel Freeland had 13 points, six rebounds, two steals and zero blocks on 5-of-10 shooting in 28 minutes on Tuesday.
J.J. Hickson started, but had just seven points and six rebounds on 3-of-8 shooting in 25 minutes. Hickson is banged up and it's possible that Freeland (and Meyers Leonard) could see the bulk of the big-man minutes in Wednesday's finale against the Warriors.

Joel Freeland (finger) failed to score or produce any stats in his one minute of action on Thursday.
He tore a ligament in his right index finger on Tuesday and looks to be good to go for the Blazers. Although, he plays just 8.5 minutes per game and has fallen way behind Meyers Leonard (eight points, five boards and one block in 26 minutes).

Thu Mar 21 201315:41Joel Freeland tears ligament in finger again
Joel Freeland re-tore the ligament in his right index finger during Tuesday's game against the Bucks.
Freeland initially injured the finger while playing in the D-League. He says the re-injury happened when he got his finger tangled up in the jersey of a Bucks player. Freeland said he'll play through the pain and doesn't expect to miss any time but noted that it'll affect his shooting. The 26-year-old rookie hasn't performed as expected and this certainly won't help things click before next season. We'll sideline him and list him as day-to-day for now, but this shouldn't affect most leagues.

Fri Mar 8 201307:25Joel Freeland struggling to adjust to NBA
Blazers coach Terry Stotts said rookie Joel Freeland is still struggling to adjust to the speed of the NBA game.
Freeland, a 26-year-old rookie, has really underwhelmed during his brief tenure in the league thus far. Averaging 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in under nine minutes per game, Freeland is only shooting 39 percent from the field while appearing in 34 games. Freeland is putting in extra work after practice, but we're not expecting things to suddenly click.

Joel Freeland will get the start at center against the Nuggets on Thursday.
Meyers Leonard's mental lapses are likely the determining factor here for coach Terry Stotts. Freeland is averaging just 2.2 points per game and is only a spot-start option in deeper leagues.

Wed Dec 19 201216:21Joel Freeland returns to practice Wednesday
Joel Freeland (torn ligament in finger) returned to practice Wednesday and appears on track to play Thursday against the Nuggets.
Freeland tore the ligament during a stint in the D-League before being re-called to Portland. With LaMarcus Aldridge (sprained ankle) out Thursday, the Blazers could use him off the bench against Denver. Still, he's unlikely to have much of a fantasy impact this season.

Mon Dec 17 201216:03Joel Freeland has torn finger ligament
Joel Freeland has a torn ligament in his right index finger and he is questionable to play in Thursday's game vs. the Nuggets.
The injury was poorly timed for Freeland, as he hurt himself in his last D-League game before being called up by Portland, and the Blazers could use him as added depth with LaMarcus Aldridge iffy to play with a sprained ankle.

Joel Freeland, who was called up from the D-League on Sunday, did not play vs. the Hornets because of a sprained index finger on his shooting hand.
Freeland said that he couldn't even get shots up before the game. We're considering him day-to-day with the injury, but his availability doesn't have ramifications for fantasy owners.

Sat Dec 15 201211:59Agent not happy Joel Freeland in D-League
Joel Freeland's agent said it "makes no sense" for the Blazers big man to be in the D-League because of Freeland's experience in Europe.
Unfortunately for Freeland's agent, his client's lack of impact this season gave the Blazers a pretty good reason to send him to Idaho for a few games. Freeland will likely spend the season bouncing back and forth while the Blazers try to get their young F/C some consistent minutes.
