Mon Feb 7 201117:59Erden out w/ thigh strain
Celtics center Semih Erden is out on Monday with a right adductor strain.
This is a thigh injury and thus unrelated to the sore shoulder that has limited Erden all season. He's day-to-day and his absence will thrust more minutes on Kendrick Perkins and Glen Davis.

Sat Jan 22 201122:32Erden starts for injured Shaq (hip) on Sat
Semih Erden started for injured Shaquille O'Neal (hip) on Saturday, and scored six points on 3-of-6 shooting with 11 rebounds, no assists, and no steals or blocks in 25 minutes.
This is pretty good representation of what owners can expect in any future starts, and with Shaq possibly missing a few more games it's looking like he'll get that chance. The other beneficiary, Glen Davis, posted a pedestrian line as well, scoring nine points on 4-of-11 shooting with six rebounds and not much else.
Fri Jan 21 201123:37Semih Erden scores career-high 14 in win
Semih Erden came off the bench and hit 5-of-5 shots for a career-high 14 points to go along with seven rebounds, three steals and a block while filling in for Shaquille O'Neal, who left with a hip injury.
Shaq won't travel to Washington and could miss several games, meaning Erden and Glen Davis, who had 14 points and seven boards, are going to get a lot of minutes at center. If your waiver wire is bare and you are desperate for a center, Erden is probably worth a look.
Thu Jan 13 201116:03Erden questionable for Friday
Celtics C Semih Erden (groin) is questionable for Friday's game against the Bobcats.
The Celtics are really banged up on the front line, which will lead to more minutes for Glen Davis and Shaquille O'Neal. Erden played 33 minutes on Wednesday night.

Wed Jan 12 201123:57Erden plays well as Shaq struggles for C's
Semih Erden had 10 points, nine rebounds and two steals in Wednesday's easy win over the Kings.
Shaquille O'Neal was in foul trouble and played terribly tonight, allowing Erden to make an impact. With Jermaine O'Neal, Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins all due back in the next few weeks, we see no reason to pick up Erden in most leagues.
Sat Jan 8 201101:37Semih Erden returned to action on Friday January 7
Semih Erden returned to action on Friday January 7.
Sat Dec 25 201013:39Erden, O'Neal to play for Celtics Saturday
Semih Erden (flu) and Jermaine O'Neal (knee) are both expected to play limited minutes on Saturday.
Don't expect much from either, although the plan is for them to give Shaq some rest today.

Fri Dec 24 201011:56Erden (flu) iffy for Sat.
Celtics center Semih Erden won't practice Friday and is questionable for Saturday's game due to a stomach virus.
Jermaine O'Neal is expected to return, which might encourage Erden to rest up over the holiday. Either way, the rookie big man hasn't been offering fantasy value.

Sun Dec 19 201017:24Semih Erden returns in limited minutes
Semih Erden returned from a groin injury Sunday and played seven scoreless minutes.
With Shaq healthy and Jermaine O'Neal on his way back, Erden has no fantasy value.
Sat Dec 18 201015:28Semih Erden iffy w/ groin injury
Celtics center Semih Erden is questionable to play on Sunday because of a groin injury.
Boston has been patching together their center position all year, so Doc Rivers should take this in stride. Erden is already limited by a nagging shoulder injury that will eventually require surgery.

Sat Dec 11 201023:12Erden gets 10 points w/ seven rebs, four blks
Semih Erden started for injured Shaquille O'Neal (calf) on Saturday, scoring 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting with seven rebounds, four blocks, and a steal in 40 minutes of action.
The bad news is that Shaq could return at any time and Jermaine O'Neal is lurking somewhere in the shadows. Regardless, the O'Neal boys are no lock to stay healthy, and owners should be ready to grab Erden if he's ever the last man standing in Boston.
Thu Dec 9 201022:49Erden replaces Shaq (calf/knee) in lineup
Semih Erden started and played 18 minutes on Thursday, scoring eight points with three rebounds, one block and one turnover.
Erden drew the start in place of Shaquille O'Neal, who rested a calf/knee injury. Head coach Doc Rivers said that he opted to go with Erden and not Glen Davis as the starting center because he didn't want to throw the bench out of sync. Regardless of Shaq's health, Erden typically sees just 10-20 minutes a night, but he'll get even less run when Jermaine O'Neal returns later this month.
Sat Nov 27 201010:10Celtics rookie Erden's shoulder's bummin
Celtics rookie Semih Erden is playing with an injured shoulder that coach Doc Rivers acknowledged "is waiting to pop out of the socket."
Erden is giving Boston a handful of quality minutes off the bench, which is all they're asking of him. His meager production will drop off even further once Jermaine O'Neal and Kendrick Perkins return from injuries.
Thu Nov 11 201012:23Erden will need shoulder surgery
Celtic C Semih Erden will eventually need shoulder surgery.
Erden is going to be able to play through the injury and will likely postpone surgery until the offseason. He may even start tonight's game against the Heat if both O'Neals sit out. However, Erden isn't a fantasy option because Glen Davis and Kevin Garnett will play the real minutes at center.

Tue Nov 9 201003:06Erden plays 12 minutes vs. Mavs
Turkish-born center Semih Erden played just 12 minutes in Monday's game despite the Celtics being without both O'Neals (knees) for most of the game, and finished with six points on 2-of-4 shooting with a rebound, a steal, and an assist.
With both O'Neals questionable for Thursday's game, owners may be tempted to look in his direction, but don't. There is still a language barrier holding back his development and it doesn't look like Doc Rivers trusts him yet -- and a TNT game vs. the Heat isn't a great place to start.
Mon Nov 8 201001:29Erden impressive in backup duty
Semih Erden contributed nine points and four rebounds in 13 minutes off the bench on Sunday.
Erden was impressive in backing up starting center Jermaine O'Neal, drawing praise from Kevin Garnett after the game. However, with Shaquille O'Neal possibly returning sometime in the next three games, Erden will find it more difficult to get into the box score.
Wed Nov 3 201011:44Erden impresses Doc
Celtic C Semih Erden had two points, two blocks and three rebounds in his NBA debut Tuesday night.
With Shaquille O'Neal (knee) out, Erden served as Jermaine O'Neal's backup. He played 15 minutes and coach Doc Rivers came away impressed. "Semih played great I thought," said Rivers. Erden remains a long-term project for the Celtics.

Sun Oct 31 201014:10Erden runs with first team in practice
Semih Erden practiced with the first team on Sunday.
With both Shaquille O'Neal and Jermaine O'Neal battling knee injuries, Erden could see more run until either returns. Glen Davis stands to gain the most from the absence of both O'Neals, however.

Fri Oct 15 201010:05Erden impressive for Cs
Celtics center Semih Erden has averaged 5.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 20.6 minutes through five exhibition games.
Modest numbers, but Erden has proven himself capable of earning minutes should Shaq or Jermaine O'Neal get injured. "I look at how smart guys are,'' said GM Danny Ainge. "Semih is smart. He sets good screens. He plays good defense. If he keeps improving at this pace, he'll be a very good player one day."

Mon Oct 11 201021:23KG teaching Erden the 'Celtic Way'
Kevin Garnett spent several post-practice minutes working with Semih Erden on pick and roll defense Monday.
"(KG) helps the ones he likes," said Doc Rivers. "He didn't think Semih was showing, his angles were bad, and it was affecting the team (Sunday), so that's what that was about." KG knows that the O'Neals are both injury risks and Semih could be needed, and owners should be ready to move if that happens.
