Wed Jan 19 2022 | 18:06 | Norman Powell Remains Unavailable For Wednesday’s Game |
Portland Trail Blazers small forward Norman Powell (personal) has been ruled out for Wednesday's contest against Miami due to personal reasons, marking his sixth consecutive absence. Nassir Little has been the primary beneficiary of Powell being sidelined, as the third-year wing has scored in double figures in each of his last five games, including adding a double-double Monday. Powell had been on a scoring deluge of his own over his last 14 contests, averaging 21.9 points across a whopping 38.5 minutes on a nightly basis. With Damian Lillard (abdomen) still out as well, C.J. McCollum and Anfernee Simons stand to be Portland's primary offensive focal points. |

Mon Jan 17 2022 | 18:00 | Norman Powell Not Available Monday |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Norman Powell has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Orlando Magic. He has cleared from the league's health and safety protocols. However, Powell needs to regain his conditioning, so he'll sit out at least one more game. That means that Ben McLemore and Nassir Little should carry plenty of streaming appeal into Monday's contest. McLemore has played surprisingly well lately and deserves a look with the Blazers short-handed right now. He could be an interesting streaming choice and DFS option for Monday's slate. |

Sun Jan 9 2022 | 18:14 | Norman Powell Enters COVID-19 Protocols |
Toronto Raptors forward Norman Powell has entered the league's health and safety protocols. The Blazers are already without their two top scorers. Now, Powell is sidelined, which really hurts this roster. His absence should mean Ben McLemore, Tony Snell, and even CJ Elleby get more involved. None of them are great fantasy options, but McLemore is the best of the three. Anfernee Simons should handle the ball more often and possibly get more shooting chances. Simons should be rostered in most formats right now with the Blazers shorthanded. |

Mon Dec 20 2021 | 08:21 | Norman Powell Hits Five Triples During A 28-Point Effort |
Portland Trail Blazers guard/forward Norman Powell enjoyed one of his most efficient scoring performances of the season on Sunday, going for 28 points on 10-for-16 shooting in a 105-100 win over the Grizzlies. He nailed five of his eight attempts from deep and shot 3-for-4 at the charity stripe. Powell had butterfingers and recorded five turnovers, but he also managed to snag three rebounds, four assists and one block in 35 minutes. This isn't the first time that we see Powell put up good scoring numbers, but he's previously done it with very inefficient shooting. He's shooting barely over 41 percent for the month, but this will hopefully get him going. A very weak defense awaits for Powell and the Blazers next, with Portland traveling to New Orleans. |

Thu Dec 9 2021 | 09:48 | Norman Powell Scores Game-High 26 Points |
Portland Trail Blazers guard/forward Norman Powell managed to lead all scorers with 26 points in Wednesday's loss to the Warriors, but he got there with poor 8-for-23 shooting. The 28-year-old hit just one of his seven attempts from downtown and saved his scoring numbers with a 9-for-11 performance at the foul line. Powell tallied five assists as well with four turnovers and one steal. He's now scored 55 points in two games with Damian Lillard (abdomen) and C.J. McCollum (lung) out. The latter is ruled out indefinitely, which gives Powell more responsibility on offense, but he has to improve his efficiency. The former Raptor is shooting a miserable 33.8 percent this month. |

Fri Dec 3 2021 | 09:33 | Norman Powell Ends Two-Game Absence With A 16-Point Effort |
Portland Trail Blazers guard/forward Norman Powell returned from a two-game absence with 16 points in Thursday's 114-83 loss to San Antonio. He also had four rebounds with one assist, one block and two turnovers in 29 minutes. The 28-year-old posted a decent line, but his shot was way off as Powell went 3-for-13 from the field and made only one two-point shot. He grabbed half of his points with perfect free-throw shooting. The Blazers need much more efficient performances from Powell, with the team currently having a number of absentees. He was performing just fine before getting hurt, so maybe Powell was just rusty on Thursday night. |

Tue Nov 30 2021 | 19:30 | Norman Powell, Nassir Little Will Miss Tuesday’s Game |
Portland Trail Blazers small forwards Norman Powell (quad) and Nassir Little (ankle) have both been deemed unavailable for Tuesday's contest against Detroit. Powell's absence with a right quad contusion has now hit multiple games, and with Little -- his backup -- unavailable, Tony Snell and Larry Nance Jr. can be seen as next in line to get added run. Powell has shot a career-best 50.5 percent from the field across his first 18 games, with Little playing a valuable role for Portland's second unit with an average of 8.3 points and 5.3 boards per contest. The next chance for either player to get back into action comes Thursday vs. the Spurs. |

Sun Nov 28 2021 | 20:55 | Norman Powell Won't Play Monday |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Norman Powell (quad) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Utah Jazz. He suffered a left quad contusion during Friday's matchup. It sounds like he'll miss at least one game because of this issue. Nassir Little is likely going to be asked to pick up the slack without Powell available. He isn't someone who is considered a must-have player, but should have an uptick in value while Powell is sidelined. |

Wed Nov 17 2021 | 20:32 | Norman Powell Cleared To Suit Up For Wednesday’s Game |
Portland Trail Blazers small forward Norman Powell (ankle) is set to take the floor for Wednesday's contest against Chicago. Powell, who has battled a left ankle sprain, has finished with single-digit shot attempts in two of his last three outings, averaging 10.7 points per game in that span. His presence in the rotation keeps Nassir Little's DFS appeal at bay, although head coach Chauncey Billups has been vocal about finding the right rotations amidst Portland's early-season struggles. The 28-year-old has been as steady as they come on the glass, having snagged either two or three rebounds in 10 of his 13 contests this year. |

Tue Nov 16 2021 | 21:43 | Norman Powell Questionable Against Bulls |
Portland Trail Blazers guard Norman Powell (ankle) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Chicago Bulls. Powell has not missed a game this season and has more incentive to play with Damian Lillard (abdominal) likely to sit out. That being said, Powell has been on fire lately, so it'd be a shame if he was forced to sit out. He'll be an excellent fantasy option, assuming he's able to play. Fantasy managers will have to check back later on Wednesday. |

Thu Nov 11 2021 | 09:53 | Norman Powell Scores 23 Points In 29 Minutes |
Portland Trail Blazers guard/forward Norman Powell continued his good scoring run with 23 points in 29 minutes in Wednesday's 119-109 loss to the Suns, shooting 8-for-17 from the field with a 3-for-8 success rate from downtown. His line included three rebounds, one assist and one steal with zero turnovers. Powell, who was 4-for-5 at the line against Phoenix, has now scored at least 20 points in five of his six appearances this month. He'll be in another nice scoring spot on Friday against the Rockets, who like to push the pace but can't defend very well. With Portland also ranking quite high in pace, this is a matchup DFS managers should target Friday night. |

Sat Nov 6 2021 | 09:00 | Norman Powell Stays Red-Hot In Win Over Pacers |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Norman Powell continued his hot shooting in Friday's win over the Pacers. Powell poured in a season-high 25 points on excellent efficiency, as he shot 8-for-14 from the field and 3 of 4 from deep while draining all his free throws. The 28-year-old rounded out the solid all-around effort with contributions across each category. Powell has been a fantasy stud over his last three games, with averages of 23.3 points, 2.3 triples, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 blocks per contest while posting 59.5/53.8/92.9 percent shooting splits. He'll come back down to earth eventually, though it likely won't happen on Saturday against the struggling Lakers. |

Tue Nov 2 2021 | 09:32 | Norman Powell Notches Team-High 22 Points Monday Night |
Portland Trail Blazers guard/forward Norman Powell led the team with 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting in Monday's 113-103 loss to the Sixers. He went 1-for-3 from behind the arc and 5-for-5 at the charity stripe with one rebound and two turnovers in 29 minutes. Both Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum finished with 20 points. Powell is a good third scoring option for the Blazers and is averaging 15.6 points per game, but the team needs a bit more from him with Lillard having a rocky start to the year. Portland faces an improved Cavaliers defense next. Powell has yet to record back-to-back 20-point performances this season, so fantasy managers shouldn't get their hopes up for Wednesday's matchup. |

Thu Oct 28 2021 | 19:48 | Norman Powell Uncertain For Friday |
Portland Trail Blazers guard/forward Norman Powell (knee) is questionable to play against the Los Angeles Clippers. Powell is still dealing with knee pain and does not have a concrete timetable for his return. Powell's missed the past two contests and Nassir Little has done a good job with the starters. Little is averaging 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks over the past two games without Powell. If Powell misses again, Little will likely continue to start and be an option in DFS. |

Wed Oct 27 2021 | 19:35 | Norman Powell Ruled Out Wednesday |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Norman Powell (knee), listed as questionable, won't play in Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies. Powell is dealing with a left knee injury and remains without a timetable for return, with his next chance to take the court coming on Friday versus the Clippers. Nasir Little, who played 32 minutes in Monday's loss to the Clippers, should continue to see an expanded role in the absence of Powell. Alfredo Simons has put up double-digit shot attempts in each of his last two games and could offer some sneaky DFS appeal as a three-point shooter in a favorable matchup with Memphis on Wednesday. |

Wed Oct 27 2021 | 15:09 | Norman Powell Could Miss Wednesday's Game |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Norman Powell (knee) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The organization has not given a timetable for Powell's return, but it has only been two days. He is dealing with left patellar tendinopathy, so the Blazers could be cautious with him when he does play. Fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Powell is limited when he returns. In the meantime, Nassir Little will continue getting increased playing time. Although, he doesn't have great streaming value right now. |

Mon Oct 25 2021 | 18:30 | Norman Powell Without A Return Timetable |
Portland Trail Blazers small forward Norman Powell (knee) was diagnosed with left patellar tendinopathy following an injury he suffered to his knee this past weekend. According to Trail Blazers beat reporter Casey Holdahl, Powell is still experiencing pain in his knee, but he is improving. He is currently without a timetable to return and it seems likely that he'll be out at least a few games, maybe more. Nassir Little and Anfernee Simons should both see increased playing time while Powell is sidelined. Simons in particular is an intriguing DFS play for the team's game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. |

Sun Oct 24 2021 | 20:00 | Norman Powell To Miss Monday's Game With Knee Injury |
Portland Trail Blazers small forward Norman Powell (knee) will miss the team's upcoming game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. Powell suffered a knee injury in Saturday's game. He left after logging just 12 minutes in the game and he didn't return. According to the team, he is dealing with left patellar tendinopathy. It isn't expected to be a long-term injury, but he'll likely miss at least the next few games. Tony Snell (foot) has also been ruled out for Monday's game, so the team will certainly be a bit shorthanded on the perimeter. Nassir Little and Anfernee Simons should both see a bump in minutes on Monday. |

Wed Oct 6 2021 | 18:23 | Norman Powell Misses Practice With Hip Ailment |
Portland Trail Blazers small forward Norman Powell (hip) was unable to suit up for Wednesday's practice session as he continues to work through a hip injury that forced him from Monday's preseason opener. Powell is coming off a sustained breakout campaign last year in which he averaged a career-high 18.6 PPG, although his offensive efficiency dipped after joining the Blazers for the stretch run of the year. Hip ailments can be notoriously finicky, and they are especially concerning for Powell, who has not hit the 70-game plateau since the 2017-18 campaign. Portland has depth on the wing to cover for Powell for the time being, but his status will be one to monitor heading into season-long drafts. |

Sat Jun 5 2021 | 00:42 | Trail Blazers, Terry Stotts parting ways after 9 seasons |
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — No team in the NBA has a longer active streak of postseason appearances than the Portland Trail Blazers, who have gotten there in each of the last eight seasons. That wasn’t enough to save Terry Stotts, and Portland will have a new coach next season. The Trail Blazers and Stotts parted ways Friday, ending a nine-year run that saw the team good enough to get to the playoffs — but not good enough to get past the first round in four of the last five seasons. “I have the utmost respect for Terry and what he has accomplished these past nine seasons,” Blazers President Neil Olshey said. “This was a difficult decision on both a personal and professional level but it’s in the best interest of the franchise to move in another direction. “Terry will always hold a special place in the Trail Blazer family and the Portland community. We relied on the integrity, professionalism and consistency he brought to the job every day and we wish he and Jan nothing but the best.” It was being... [ More] |
