Sat Dec 4 201011:00Parra likely to be used in relief by Brewers
Brewers manager Doug Melvin said Manny Parra will probably pitch in relief in 2011.
It's the right move, as Parra has fared much better as a reliever and simply hasn't shown enough consistency to remain a starter. He has the potential to be a shutdown late-inning reliever, though with John Axford and Jeremy Jeffress around, it's doubtful he'll ever be used in the closer role with Milwaukee.

Thu Oct 21 201017:05Manny Parra undergoes surgery on left hip
Manny Parra underwent surgery on Thursday afternoon to repair a small labrum tear in his left hip.
The procedure was fairly minor and he should be fine by the start of spring training next season. Parra, 28 in late October, posted a 5.02 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 16 starts and 26 relief appearances this past year.

Fri Oct 8 201016:16Parra may have torn hip labrum
Manny Parra is dealing with a possible torn labrum in his left hip.
Could have fooled us, as the southpaw had nine consecutive scoreless appearances to end the season. He's currently receiving a second opinion on the injury before a proper course of action is decided. Parra, who turns 28 later this month, posted a 5.02 ERA over 16 starts and 26 relief appearances this season.

Sat Sep 11 201010:38Parra not done as starter yet
Brewers manager Ken Macha isn't ready to give up on Manny Parra as a starter just yet even though the lefty has been markedly better out of the bullpen.
"I can't completely say that," Macha said. "I thought that he had tremendous progress this year regardless of what his numbers are." Parra has a 6.19 ERA and 1.74 WHIP as a starter and a 2.90 ERA and 1.36 WHIP out of the bullpen this season. He's showed his upside with more than a strikeout per inning this year, but Parra is simply way too inconsistent, and a permanent move to the bullpen would probably be wise.

Wed Aug 25 201017:43Manny Parra shifted to Brewers' bullpen
Manny Parra has been shifted to the Brewers' bullpen.
Chris Capuano will start in his place on Saturday against the Pirates. Parra, 27, has posted a 5.65 ERA, a 1.70 WHIP and a 110/56 K/BB ratio over 108 1/3 innings this season. He's been a major letdown for the pitching-starved Brewers since showing promise as a rookie in 2007.

Sun Aug 22 201018:57Report: Parra's rotation spot in danger?
Manny Parra's days in Milwaukee's rotation could be numbered, according to MLB.com.
Parra surrendered seven runs in six innings Sunday against the Padres and now has a 5.65 ERA in 108 1/3 innings this year. Manager Ken Macha and general manager Doug Melvin spoke briefly Sunday about September call-ups and a newcomer could definitely knock Parra from the rotation for the third straight season. Parra is arbitration-eligible this offseason and is a non-tender candidate.

Tue Aug 10 201023:18Parra walks six, allows 1 ER in no-decision
Manny Parra walked six but allowed just one run to the D'Backs in Tuesday's 2-1 loss.
Parra's talent is apparent, but he continues to baffle the organization with starts like this. He handed out six free passes, but danced from trouble by striking out six and allowing four hits. With one out in the sixth inning, he'd already racked up 106 pitches and needed to be pulled. He isn't a fantasy option right now.
Sun Jul 18 201017:42Parra torched for 10 runs in loss
Manny Parra was torched for a season-high 10 runs over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Braves on Sunday afternoon.
Believe it or not, it wasn't the worst outing of his career. Parra also gave up 10 runs in a start against the Marlins last June 2. He has been punished for 21 runs over his last four starts, boosting his ERA from a once-palatable 3.83 to its current 5.28. That being said, he'll probably keep his spot in the rotation at least until Doug Davis from the disabled list.
Mon Jun 28 201023:58Parra gives up four runs in no-decision
Manny Parra gave up four runs over five innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Monday night.
Parra scattered seven hits -- including a rare home run by Michael Bourn -- while fanning seven and walking four. Tonight was the first time Parra has given up more than three runs in a start this month. Despite the loss, he's worth consideration in NL-only leagues because of his strikeout potential. He'll bring a 4.12 ERA into a matchup against the Cardinals this weekend.
Mon Jun 7 201000:04Brewers' Parra strikes out 10
Manny Parra fanned 10 while allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings Sunday against the Cardinals.
With Dave Bush getting bumped last week, it looks like Parra is in the rotation to stay. He's been inconsistent his whole career, but the upside makes him worth using in NL-only leagues. He's fanned 37 in 36 1/3 innings this season.
Sat May 29 201022:52Brewers' Parra removed after three
Manny Parra yielded three runs over three innings in his start Saturday versus the Mets.
Parra was supposed to start last Sunday, but he was scratched after being used in an extra-inning game the day before. He ended up recording the win in relief Sunday anyway. This was his first outing since then, and he simply wasn't sharp, throwing only 46 of his 78 pitches for strikes. It remains to be seen whether he'll stay in the rotation.
Sat May 22 201021:04Brewers' Parra needed in relief
Manny Parra, who was slated to start Sunday, took a loss in relief in the 12th inning of Saturday's game.
Jeff Suppan wasn't available after his long outing Friday, so the Brewers went to Parra after using the rest of their pen, with the notable exception of Trevor Hoffman. It didn't work out, as Parra took the loss in his second inning of work. Now the Brewers will probably call up a starter for Sunday. Mitch Stetter could be sent down.
Mon May 17 201012:48Parra to start Tuesday against Reds
Manny Parra is slated to start Tuesday against the Reds.
The Brewers are doing a bit of rotation maneuvering in the wake of Doug Davis (heart condition) hitting the disabled list. Parra could be asked to make more than one start if he pitches well against Cincinnati. As a reliever this year, he's posted a 3.98 ERA and a 20/4 K/BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings.
