Wed Nov 7 201220:24Mike Adams unlikely to return to Rangers
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said it's "unlikely" free agent Mike Adams will be re-signed.
"It's unlikely," Daniels said. "Mike has earned the right to free agency and put up the performance worthy of a substantial contract. We would like to have him back, but it ultimately we haven't done many of the kinds of deals he is looking at." Adams is recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery and could get a slow start to spring training.

Fri Oct 19 201219:04Mike Adams undergoes successful surgery
Mike Adams underwent successful surgery on Thursday to relieve the symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome.
Adams, who is a free agent this offseason, will need five to six months of recovery time before he's cleared to return. He may not be ready for the start of spring training, but should be good to go before opening day. He'll be a high-risk, high-reward type of free-agent signing.

Fri Oct 12 201215:46Mike Adams' surgery date set
Mike Adams will undergo surgery on October 18 in order to relieve the symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome.
It's the same procedure that Chris Carpenter had before he made a quicker-than-expected return to the Cardinals' rotation late in the year. Of course, Jeremy Bonderman and Noah Lowry also had the procedure years ago and were never the same afterwards, so there is an unknown element to the surgery. Adams will be a free agent this winter.

Sat Oct 6 201214:02Adams expected to undergo offseason surgery
Mike Adams (thoracic outlet syndrome) is expected to undergo offseason shoulder surgery.
Adams will meet with a specialist Thursday before making the decision final. Chris Carpenter missed the first five months of the season with the same surgery, so the odds are against Adams being medically cleared for spring training. He'll enter free agency as a major red flag injury risk.

According to Rangers GM Jon Daniels, there are still several hurdles that Mike Adams must clear before he is able to return to the mound.
Adams has been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome, which will require offseason surgery. He's not expected to be available for the ALDS, and sounds questionable to return at all in the month of October should the Rangers advance further.

Tue Oct 2 201220:04Adams unlikely to be ready for first round
Mike Adams (thoracic outlet syndrome) is not expected to be available for the first round of the playoffs.
Adams visited Dr. Drew Dossett Monday, and he didn't put any limitations on the right-hander, but there remains no timetable for when he'll resume throwing. "We haven't made that call yet," general manager Jon Daniels said. "He's still in the mix, but it will be tough to have him active without seeing him throw." Adams is expected to undergo offseason surgery but is hoping to pitch through the injury during the playoffs.

Mike Adams underwent an MRI on his right shoulder Friday and will be sidelined indefinitely.

Sat May 19 201218:53Adams (infection) likely out on Saturday
Mike Adams is suffering from a respiratory infection.
He likely will not be available Saturday. Adams got an X-ray and CAT Scan on his chest on Friday. "Hard to recover right now," he said. Joe Nathan has pitched in four straight games, so he's presumably not available Saturday against the Astros either. Alexi Ogando could be in line for a save, as could Koji Uehara.
