Thu Jul 7 202215:00Rafael Devers Returns Against Yankees
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (back, hamstring) is back at third base and is hitting second in the lineup on Thursday against New York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole. Devers sat out the last two games with a sore right hamstring and back tightness, but it was never considered serious, and he'll return to face the division rivals. Although it's a tough matchup against Cole, the 25-year-old is a must-start in fantasy, slashing a healthy .327/.383/.579 with a .962 OPS, 17 home runs, 46 RBI, 57 runs scored and two stolen bases on the season. He's hitting just .238 in 21 career at-bats against Cole, but Devers has also taken him deep four times and has driven in 10 runs against him.

Wed Jul 6 202215:37Rafael Devers Sitting Wednesday With Injuries
Boston Red Sox skipper Alex Cora said that third baseman Rafael Devers (back, hamstring) will sit out again on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. "Little bit sore, right hammy, tight back," Cora said. Devers will miss his second straight game, but the injuries sound pretty minor, and fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Christian Arroyo will start at third base and hit eighth on Wednesday against Rays right-hander Corey Kluber. Arroyo will be a low-upside DFS option in the absence of Devers, although he has gone 8-for-18 (.444) with a home run and three RBI in six games over the last two weeks. Overall, though, he's hitting only .229 with four home runs, 13 RBI and three stolen bases in 40 games for the BoSox.

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers is absent from the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against left-hander Jeffrey Springs and the Tampa Bay Rays. Christian Arroyo will be manning the hot corner for the game. This is nothing but a routine rest day for Devers, who has continued to smash the ball all season long. He ranks third in the majors in batting average (.327) and sixth in the majors in OPS (.962). He's also maintaining a career-best 52.9% hard-hit rate and a career-best average exit velocity of 93.8 mph.

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers went 4-for-5 with a double, three singles, and a strikeout during Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles. He ranks among the top 10 percent of hitters in exit velocity, hard hit rate, xwOBA, xBA, and xSLG. He also leads all of MLB with 19 doubles, and 69 hits. Over his last 15 games along, the 25-year-old star is slashing .424/.449/.818 with five homers, nine RBI, and nine doubles. Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers is not in the starting lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. It's just a normal day off for the All-Star third baseman. It will be Devers' first game off of the season after going 19-for-72 with three home runs and eight RBI in the first 17 games. Infielder Christian Arroyo will draw the start at the hot corner in Toronto and bat eighth against Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman. Fri Apr 8 202214:05Red Sox, Rafael Devers Won't Reach An Extension
The Boston Red Sox and third baseman Rafael Devers will not reach a contract extension before the start of the regular season. Devers is under contract through the next two seasons, but he said this offseason that he won't discussion a long-term extension during the year. With shortstop Xander Bogaerts in a similar situation and likely to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract to become a free agent after this season, the 2022 campaign could be the last with both Devers and Bogaerts on the left side of Boston's infield. Devers, 25, is one of the best all-around hitters in the game, regardless of the fact that he doesn't have an extension in hand before Opening Day on Friday against New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole.

Wed Apr 6 202218:12Rafael Devers Turns Down Extension Offer
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers has turned down a contract extension offered by the team. According to MLB Insider's Hector Gomez, the offer was something lower than Devers was willing to consider. The 25-year-old is under team control through the 2024 season, but it's not a good sign for the franchise that he's passing on a long-term deal at this juncture. Devers is coming off yet another standout season. Over 156 games in 2021, he slashed .279/.352/.538 with 38 home runs, 113 RBI and 101 runs.

Tue Apr 5 202221:56Rafael Devers Extension Looking Unlikely
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers is unlikely to sign a long-term extension with the team at this point in time, according to Red Sox beat writer Chris Cotillo. Devers put an Opening Day deadline on the extension talks and Cotillo reports that there is "still no momentum" on a deal, despite the fact that we are now less than 48 hours away from Opening Day. Devers signed a one-year, $11.2 million deal with the club in March to avoid arbitration and through the terms of that deal, he is under team control until the end of the 2024 season.

Tue Apr 5 202214:19Boston Discussing Extensions For Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts
The Boston Red Sox have had recent discussions with both third baseman Rafael Devers and shortstop Xander Bogaerts about long-term contract extensions. However, neither player is expecting to reach an agreement before Opening Day this week, and neither Devers nor Bogaerts want to discuss contracts during the regular season. Devers can become a free agent after the 2023 season, while Bogaerts has an opt-out clause in his contract after this year that he seems likely to exercise. The combination of Devers and Bogaerts on the left side of Boston's infield is an elite combo, but the pairing could be in their final season in 2022. RotoBaller has Devers ranked as the No. 10 overall fantasy player, while Bogaerts sits at No. 39.

Wed Mar 23 202210:32Red Sox Give Rafael Devers $11.2 Million
The Boston Red Sox avoided salary arbitration on Tuesday with third baseman Rafael Devers by giving him a one-year, $11.2 million deal, according to a source. The 25-year-old Dominican was a first-time All-Star in 2021, hitting .279/.352/.538 with an .890 OPS, career-high 38 home runs, 113 RBI and 101 runs scored for the BoSox in 664 plate appearances over 156 games played. Devers has a high floor and a high ceiling for fantasy managers and is still relatively cheap in fantasy drafts. He's so attractive because of his elite barrel rate and his low strikeout totals, and he should also continue to rack up the counting stats in a loaded Boston lineup.

Mon Feb 21 202214:14Rafael Devers Enjoys Strong 2021 Season
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers enjoyed yet another quality season at the plate in 2021, further cementing himself as one of fantasy baseball's best at his position, alongside the likes of Jose Ramirez and Manny Machado. The 25-year-old hit .279 with a .352 on-base percentage, 38 home runs and five stolen bases in 664 plate appearances. What's more, he turned in a 9.3% walk rate and a 21.5% strikeout rate. The walk rate represented a new career-high for Devers, while the strikeout rate was the second-lowest of his career. Fantasy managers who miss out on Ramirez in drafts and want to select a third baseman early should consider the Red Sox slugger. Devers should once again be hitting in the top four of a lineup that also features Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinezand Enrique Hernandez.

He also walked and scored two runs in five plate appearances. Devers now has a hit in seven straight games, with four homers in that span. He's driven in 25 runs in 24 career postseason games. Sun Oct 17 202121:07Rafael Devers Joins Grand-Slam Party In Game 2
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (forearm) saw teammate J.D. Martinez deliver a grand slam in the first inning of Game 2, and he followed up with a slam of his own in the top of the second. Devers also walked and scored a run in five plate appearances. He's gone 9-for-29 with three homers, 10 RBI, and seven runs scored this postseason, which is especially impressive considering he's been dealing with a sore forearm. It doesn't seem to be slowing him down at all, and he isn't expected to miss any time despite appearing to aggravate it on a missed swing.
