Tue Sep 20 201123:48Carp goes 5-for-5 in victory over Twins
Mike Carp went 5-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 victory against the Twins.
The monster game raised his batting average 14 points, from .277 to .291. It was the first five-hit game of Carp's career. He entered the contest hitting only .206 with a .672 OPS in September, cooling off from monster July and Augusts, where he hit .349 (.959 OPS) and .313 (.898), respectively. Keep in mind that most of his success this month came yesterday, when Carp had a grand slam and an RBI double in a rain-shortened game against the Indians. If mixed leaguers stuck with him through his struggles, they are being rewarded handsomely this week.

With the Mariners trailing 1-0 in the eighth inning on Wednesday, Mike Carp tagged Scott Downs for a two-RBI double, propelling Seattle to a 2-1 win at home.
After entering Monday in a 3-for-27 slump, Carp has gone 5-for-12 with four extra-base hits and five RBI. He'll finish August with a sterling .313/6/25 triple-crown slash. It's likely he'll remain streaky in September, but he shouldn't be unowned in mixed leagues right now.

Wed Jul 27 201116:22Mike Carp goes 4-for-5, drives in four
Mike Carp finished 4-for-5 with a triple and four RBI against the Yankees on Wednesday.
Carp's three-run triple really should have been caught by Curtis Granderson, but it was another well-hit ball for the 25-year-old. Carp isn't distinguishing himself (at least not in a good way) with his play in left field, but the Mariners are going to have to keep his bat in the lineup going forward, even if it's at DH.
